There is no player in world football who is too good to be subbed off. If Palmer was marked out of the game, bring in another player alongside who can create and dictate the game and we have one in Felix. Both of them should have been on the field in the second half.
@@udbz7264 Felix won’t score? First of all, has he not scored any goals? Yes, his conversion rate isn’t eye-catching but you can’t draw that conclusion. I rely don’t blame Maresca on not going for broke towards the end of the game. It wasn’t a risk worth taking given the windy conditions and the fixture. his emphasis was no doubt on controlled possession towards the end of the game. Perfect take on Sanchez.
Cucurella is the player that makes the team ticks in all areas of the pitch. He is the most inform player currently in the team, take it or leave it. He supports the attack, he supports the defense well too 😏
Can we just chill with all these critics. We have to understand we will not play at 100% every game, and we as fans need to understand and respect those guys for their hard work. We can't only give them props when they play well. They have been playing well so far this season, a season that some people wrote us out from the start. I think it wasn't our day, Everton came with a game plan, and they stood by it. Win, lose, or draw we need to SUPPORT OUR PLAYERS.
I always found it weird how people gave Fofana time to get his game sense back but never gave Sanchez the same patience even though Sanchez was out for 7 months last season due to injury
Leaving Palmer in the pitch despite his underwhelming performance because someone is a waiting for a moment of carelessness from Everton for him to score was to dumb and silly
Don't understand why so many fans are angry about the result. You should be angry at the Palace and Forest game instead. BOTH WERE AT HOME. This game was away, at Goodison Park. We simply didn't create enough, win enough fouls. Our final pass bar the Cole cutback to Jackson was not there. None of our wingers took on their fullbacks enough. The draw was fair.
Cucu strength to simplify it is all the things you mention, but tenacity, and never feels the pressure or gets intimidated. He gives the rest of the team confidence and sets the tempo.
no cap cole palmer thinks he can drop 6/10 and still play because mareseca wont drop him iwl some games he is crucial for us but if he isn’t playing good felix should be given a chance
This is that type of game where Palmer’s finishing is why he was left on the pitch. The ability to take a shot from deep or sneak something near post. Overall I would like to see Felix more. But this was an ugly, sloppy mess of a game where people were struggling with their touches and passing because of the weather. So maybe not the specific moment where we need Felix and Palmer. Could he have taken off Palmer to see if a fresh Felix could have had an impact against a defense that might be feeling the lactic acid around the 75 minute? There is always an argument for that. But, I refer back to my first point about Palmer’s finishing capabilities.
@@JoshuaWilliamson-s1yabsolutely agree, sure felix could have been brought on but not in palmers place.. palmer needs half a chance to score. Also if palmer is marked out of the game by 2 players, it leaves space for other players to step up but they didnt
Overall I just don’t think tactically maresca prepared properly this is one of his few games that you can say he hurt himself bc I’m still confused on why he didn’t just trust in bright force place out of positions when it’s not needed this is the bs that potter and poch did (in the beginning to mid season)
Maresca’s system is reliant on inversions. Whether in DM or half space positions. It’s obvious Veiga doesn’t have the engine to play in that role. He is at best a LCB or a pivot player. The next best thing to Cucurella is Gusto but he isn’t the finished product in that role especially in the attacking phase but at least gives the team the required balance.
I understand maresca dont really like to make changes. Also keeping chillwell and not playing him doesn't make any sense. He can definitely play high up as an inverted player.
One clear analysis you mentioned in the review of the game was that our wide play was stifled by players who don't add quality playing there, Disasi on the right and Gusto on the left, Palmer was non existent because Everton was closing down the central spaces, Our winger were always 1 v 3. Hopefully Maresca can realise even though tu want to be respectful to senior players yu gotta play Acheampong and Veiga
Yeah especially on right side I realize Neto and maduke never really had a one on one vs their LB but Sancho most of the time did but gusto didn’t make the best runs to help him tactically I just don’t think maresca prepared properly
But Nini if Christopher Nkunku and João Félix can't play even when Cole Palmer is having a bad or quiet game, then why did we buy these guys if they can't be trusted in situations like those?
Felix was bought because he's good on FIFA and his agent is cosy with the club. He's pretty useless unless you think a fancy dribble here and a nice little flick there without end product wins you points.
@@PesMLRyanGiggs he can be inefficient but this is quite disingenuous. He’s our only player that can hurt teams through ball carrying centrally. Would’ve given Everton another issue to deal with taking attention from palmer
The point is that a single player can make or mar a team in football. Cucurella is in that position where if not available and I think Maresca will find a system to make us play good football and win without Cucurella, Everton was a test to that.
Enzo didn’t play the duel roll because Maresca doesn’t want to chance open spaces for the counter attack. Especially for the long second ball. He has continuously done this against the bigger teams. He wants his resting 5 never to vacate their space. Obviously then the team lacks natural movement in our attacking phase. We wait and hope for moments by our gifted attackers. It’s actually hard to watch and doesn’t benefit the 4 forward players who hold very stagnant positions in both attack and defence. This is proof as to why we are still the small horse. We played not to loose. We play to stifle the opposition, not believing in our own ability.
Joao Felix debut goal against wolves I saw that thrive to be a better version but went back to his old ways of dribbling alot complicating his game sometimes his defending is low all dis leads to why he doesn't start games + he is not that effective like Cole palmer.Felix should start getting serious n be the player we want not jus an entertainer but a lethal forward that brings a threat.💙💙💙🔥🔥🔥
We need another ball carrying defender. A top striker. A top striker will convert those few chances. Can't wait for Messinho and Paez to join the squad
I think the coach favors certain players to others.if there's a time to start Vega in the prem,it was against Everton. He begged for a draw against a defensive team.I wonder how people talk so much about palmer even when he is shit, as if he's prime messy. He was extremely poor and yet he finished the game.I believed the coach when he said they're not in a title race,he is not bold enough.Arsenal didn't show this level of fear against Everton. Please crown Liverpool as the champions. That is a team!
I was saying he should have subbed Palmer. But then it wouldn’t help his confidence. Because he rarely has a bad day on the pitch. I would’ve subbed him anytime after the 75 minutes mark. Also I wouldn’t have just like the coach. Because we have to show him that he’s that guy we believe in him. I think we need back Ben for that position without Cucu. Honestly
I don't necessarily buy into the idea that if maresca substituted Palmer and Sancho, we could have done something more. Maresca was overall happy with how the game went and he doesn't use substitutions in such situations. The system didn't click because there was no cucurella and Disasi didn't offer any support or threat going forward. I do think he did the wrong thing by starting Sancho. When Brentford was playing deep in the last game, we used crosses to create situations. The strategy should have been the same but it wasn't possible to execute it with no cucurella and with Sancho starting. A better combination would have been of Neto and Madueke. Still, it's too early to criticize Maresca unless he continues to cost us points with such details. Also, keeping Palmer on wasn't the problem. Felix would have been ineffective because he usually runs at defenders and there was no space to run into Everton. We would have been more culpable of losing the ball with Felix and conceding attacks. On top of that Felix hasn't played enough games recently to expect him to be sharp. Important to put things into perspective
It wouldn't have worked. Everton has big, tall defenders (even bigger than Brentford) and they were playing a very low block. Pumping crosses in the box would have been useless because Everton allowed no second balls or drop downs. Madueke did nothing when he came on. All the wingers were being doubled up on. That left some space in the middle but CP was having a poor day. The bad conditions also meant it was difficult to judge the ball and play long passes effectively so we lacked the splitting passes on transition (when Everton did try to attack). Sancho relies on one on one play in tight spaces, but Gusto couldn't link up. There were many chances where Sancho or Palmer played the pass and ran into space for the return but Gusto turned to safely pass backwards or towards the middle.
4 players u mentioned plus gk was good and the rest were crap plus Marescas tactics against the most defending team is yet to convince me really COYB ❤❤❤❤
Nobody is above the club. Palmer sub or not ain’t a big deal. I think Maresca dropped the ball tactically this game. I feel as though we should have subbed off sancho move Neto to the left, brought on noni when Cole got the yellow. Sancho did not perform bad, all things considered, just a few things could have been crisper. Twice he was looking for ball to foot and missed the run into space. Neto on the other hand wants to run onto the ball. However, as you said, this is the first time we have started a 2nd half and not looked remarkably better. TBF maresca did dial up two big chances for Jackson, so his initial setup was good. Hopefully, in the future we can be a bit more aggressive in going for those three points.
I don't understand our fanpage, they crying for us dropping important points , who said if you are a title contender you should win every game 🎯, then suddenly palmer is nothing cmon you crying for felix, he can't , even score an open goal 😂
Why are you expecting Disasi to overlap? Maresca wants a back three in rest defense, if disasi goes in the final third Enzo and Gusto need to move back in holding mid and wide centre back respectively. Looks like a ovr general set up doesn't allow for overloading a flank. Would have liked Palmer to drift wide like he did under Poch while Noni was also on the pitch.
If he drifts wide, we got 0 occupation centrally or close to Jackson It’s all relative to where the balls being played, I get with disasi there’s reluctance to venture forward, it just hurts the team a lil and it hurts the wingers and our wide play
Gusto playing the 2nd CAM next to Palmer has been subpar all season. Has happenned 4 times I think and we’ve looked mid to bad all 4 times. Should’ve used Vega and let Enzo move forward.
Whenever a team sits deep, is organized and Palmer heavily marked, Chelsea struggles. Attacking options to open the game have to come from others. Jackson failed to convert 2 good opportunities. Sancho was restricted by Young. Neto under serviced. An improvised defense with shackles. Not much creativity in the final third. Palmer frustrated putting through balls but teammates not anticipating them. We lacked size, physicality and movement. The referee allowed a lot. We had to step up, vary the pace, tempo and decoys. More wheels needed in the 2 nd half. Maresca opted for regenerative brakes. Two late, ineffective subs. We needed legs and a system change. It never came.
It seemed we were not on the same wavelength. Primarily because Sancho and gusto can't work together well and Disasi is not a full back. Against a deep defense, we needed more variation and options. We kept using through balls and hoping for the right pass and a moment which never came.
I think it was good result, yes, one point is good. Most importantly now we must demolish Fulham and other team and end first half on the best possible level
as much as maresca has done a great job. I cant accept our manager is content with a draw... especially vs everton. we need to build a strong mentality if we want to be that title winning team in the future
We win the game if a clinical no. 9 was there in place of Jackson Palmer didn't need to be subbed off he needed Felix to come into the game and free up space, you cant double mark both of them.
Bro Y We Can't Just Relax And Look At The Bigger Picture...Look How Good Our Team Has Been Since The Calendar Year.....Cole Palmer Is Important To Us Jus Has Curry for Goldenstate Warriors....Just Think Deep And You Would See It💙🇯🇲💙
I thought we should have subbed Sancho for Felix and let Gusto hold the width.. but the reality is we not gonna win each and every game.. we still won 6 of our last 10 games and lost only once so what are we complaining about
Cucurella's absence actually exposed Enzo Maresca. That's the underestimated engine room of Chelsea's attack. Thank God for Robert Sanchez and Tosin for saving the day for us👍🏼
Drawing the 17th game of the season against Everton at Goodison doesn’t mean we’re not still in the title race. We’re four points off LFC with 21 games left.
Nah we aren’t in the title race till we beat a big team like arsenal or Liverpool. People are mad about us dropping points after a 6 game win streak like top 4 wasn’t our only goal for this year.
To be honest i think enzo maresca failed with his subs,we are the best scoring team un the league for a reason and taking the opponents by suprise with bold substitution would have won us the game
Would I ever sub Theirry Henry? No. Would I ever sub Palmer? Yes. Palmer is amazing but he plays in a position where he can be man marked. For the simple fact he doesn’t particularly press well and doesn’t like to run in behind tells me yes. When you are being marked out of a game they are the 2 things that can make a massive difference.
Maresca said that Palmer didn't do his usual thing because he was not given space. Maresca is wrong here. Good players are not given space. Do you expect your opponents to give you space to score Maresca no no. This ur comment is not encouraging. Palmer must continue to be😢closed in. I don't believe he should be subbed but rather Palmer must create space to perform and ensure clinical finishing. He lost a good chance early in the game. Messi always create chances. Palmer must be stronger and ready to escape his man marking which can even get us fouls and penalty. Palmer is human and off days are expected because of the standard he has already set. Cucurella is key to us with his inversion. I would have prefered Viega played. Viega can invert better than Gusto and Viega is tall and good in corners and high balls. Generally Maresca got his selection a bit wrong. Palmer surely can be subbed on a bad day. Felix brings in a different option and that's what we should try. Up Chelseaaaaaaaaaaaa 4life.
Nah you don't sub Cole. Pep doesn't do that with Haaland, Slot doesn't do that with Salah. People have to understand the best players, the coaches don't take out until they get a g/a. You try to find a solution to make them get a g/a. That's what Maresca did with Noni and Nkunku, but the goal didn't happen.
Niini why are you doing this Even the coach congratulated them and he was happy with the result You don’t expect to always win.. there will bump on the road there will be bad days
Chelsea didn't play well. They were floppy, too slow, incurate in passes, no crosses, Enzo Fenandez didn't allow Palmer take free kicks despite him self not good in shooting, poor in conner kicks. Disasi, Gusto on left back ineffective.
We are quick to vilify Sanchez (mostly rightly so) but are slow to praise him and give him his props. He did very well and kudos to him.
Yeah. He was pretty good, today. It's one game. When he puts together a strong run and stops doing silly mistakes everyone will praise him.

Bring in a top striker like isak,Sesko,Guirassy or Gyokeres at Chelsea 💙💙💙 sell Nkunku plz .
as much as maresca has done a great job. I cant accept our manager is content with a draw... especially vs everton. we need to build a strong mentality if we want to be that title winning team in the future
Var did us again yesterday , Pickford tackle on Malu Gusto should of being a red card and a Penalty. but here we go again VAR against us again.
We win the game if a clinical no. 9 was there in place of Jackson
Palmer didn't need to be subbed off he needed Felix to come into the game and free up space, you cant double mark both of them.
Sanchez deserves his flowers, tbh.
Bro Y We Can't Just Relax And Look At The Bigger Picture...Look How Good Our Team Has Been Since The Calendar Year.....Cole Palmer Is Important To Us Jus Has Curry for Goldenstate Warriors....Just Think Deep And You Would See It💙🇯🇲💙
I strongly feel like Felix deserves minutes as well
We need Jonathan David!!
Gusto playing left is a broken invasion, disasi playing right another broken invasion 💔 😞.
Has anyone noticed that maresca becomes more passive when things aren't completely going our way? Have you noticed that Nini?
Felix should have come in for gusto and keep Enzo deeper
Love Cucu in his African suit.
Would have put palmer at the right and felix in the middle and nkunku at 9😅
No. He needs to be 'rested'. He's been off it recently.
To be honest i think enzo maresca failed with his subs,we are the best scoring team un the league for a reason and taking the opponents by suprise with bold substitution would have won us the game
Palmer should have been subbed off instead of Jackson, bring in Nkuno or Felix and if Jackson subbed off it should be for Marc Guiu.
palmer did so well last season playing on the right!!
Sancho was horrible and yet played 90mins!!
Maresca got it wrong. Wrong line up. Wrong subs. But maybe bogey Brentford and Everton back to back wins was asking for too much.
Cole needs a 3 game break
Nara Bro Coacha sold us
Would I ever sub Theirry Henry?
Why is no body talking about the bad weather conditions. Maresca is right
He surely was missed 😔😔
Sign Ait nouri wolves LB 🔥🔥🔥💙💙💙
We should have been given a penalty. Pitford bone crushing tackle?
I'm but Veiga is not good enough in the midfield. He's soo slow
Cucu should not make another mistake again for an avoidable red card ♦️
Sign Bastoni inter Milan CB 🔥🔥🔥💙💙💙
Title Race, you said?
Maresca said that Palmer didn't do his usual thing because he was not given space. Maresca is wrong here. Good players are not given space. Do you expect your opponents to give you space to score
Maresca no no.
Long time i ent here something so worry no player is to big for d game some d best thing is to take them off i say u no sports man
Wow
Niini why are you doing this
Even the coach congratulated them and he was happy with the result
You don’t expect to always win.. there will bump on the road there will be bad days
It’s might sound delusional but the reason we are poor is the weather and nothing else
This is ridiculous. Bro was talking about Calvert Lewin as if it was prime Drogba. There’s a reason why Everton are in that position.
You took it some nexxxxxt way if that’s how you saw it :/
The fans crying are the fans that wanted poch to stay they hate Chelsea
Chelsea didn't play well. They were floppy, too slow, incurate in passes, no crosses, Enzo Fenandez didn't allow Palmer take free kicks despite him self not good in shooting, poor in conner kicks. Disasi, Gusto on left back ineffective.
Sell mudryk bring in khvicha Napoli LW 🔥🔥🔥💙💙💙
Or sign Leao
After 80 minutes, Palmer can be sub off.
Cucurella's stupid red card cost us 3 points
Here comes the agendas and false narratives it was just a difficult game get over it hard earned point in my opinion you 🤡
The game yesterday was too rigid. The missing piece was talent flexibility (Felix). Our game plan was was too predictable
