This is about as emotional as you can get for a love song. This is the best rendition of his recordings of Magnolia. When he says "your driving me mad" There's nothing that I have heard I believe more. Thanks Mr. JJ Cale for all your music over the years.
There's a lotta beautiful love songs out there, none of them more beautiful than Magnolia - and this sure is a wonderful version, maybe the most beautiful. GREAT SOUND! Thank You, jjcalefannet!!!
Destiny I've been playing this so many nights. Music is all I've got right now with what's going onAND then here you come with your sax. I l o v e that. Thank you. You're so fortunate to have played with this man. Keep on blessing us with your music.
Wow JJ, you got me again. and the sax ,how sweet the flow the piano must have been a nice day that day .Thank you JJ again and again Yep so many memories ... Magnolia you sweet babe ....... tears in me eyes, must be the onions
Thanks! John requested what song we wanted to do that show and I suggested this, and he said, "Only if you play some syrupy saxophone for me." It's my favorite song. I miss him.
@@destinypivonka6555 The treasure you hold is the memory of the past .Moments like this can truly be a gift ...to have the opportunity to work with and meet extraordinary people .The syrupy sax done its work and completed the moment together.Destiny ( what is in a name) this was part of your destiny .. (-: On the syrupy sax I travelled back in the years to when this song first came out ,during a long hot summer in the seventies .......smell of summergrass, blue sky and a young man in love haha .....Got to get back to..........haha
It's funny. I was just looking to see if this footage was on UA-cam- I knew it existed somewhere.... my friends are doing song lists to quell the quarantine boredom. Yesterday's topic was flowers. ;)
@@destinypivonka6555 Yes ,we are working on things like that too ,recorded some music .and send it to a musician/friend to add their part and so on untill we can mix it .Maybe join a song on your sax with some players from the Netherlands? next weekend we will probably record St James infirmary and send it on .
It was a fantastic show. I was 22 when I played that tour. It was the first "name" I went on the road with, all the guys in his band are friends and musicians I grew up playing with around town. Most of them are gone now. I miss them terribly. The band was the most laid back bunch of guys you could put together.
when I move to the low country, this was the first song , I played that night, thank the gods for that old okie....btw I first bought the Lp, in Rockville, Iceland. Had two more years left on the military enlistment.....
Me! I actually requested this song for the night. John asked us all what we wanted to play. He's the first big act I got to tour with. I was 22 here. I miss him. He was a beautiful soul.
This is not such a great clip of his playing, and if you are into bluesy guitar, I recommend you check out some of JJ Cale’s other stuff. He was the Mozart of blues guitar, able to say in a handful of notes where the shredders required hundreds. JJ Cale built his own guitars. To Eric Clapton he was a mentor about how to play the instrument. Ruminate on that awhile. Neil Young named JJ as one of his two favorite guitarists. The other was Jimi Hendrix. As I say, check him out.
What the hell is it with American audiences..... whistling....whooping......talking......all whilst the artist is playing.? Ignorant.... disrespectful.... immature......
Mike Gustafson Obviously you're an American....rude, disrespectful, ignorant, immature AND universally stupid. Oh, and certainly not a music lover....if you defend such actions. Au revoir.
The world cries for you JJ Cale - you are magnificent, talented, humble and pure .

Rest In Peace JJ.
You were the best we ever had!

JJ Cale. Amazing song. Likely my favorite of all time. I love this guy. Never sold out always stayed true to himself. Man can he write a song.

I don't have any studio gear, otherwise I would. It sounds fun. Maybe one day you can come play in Chicago. :)

Good choice to add the sax to this. So mellow......

What a great song.

it has taken me over 30 years to have the guts to play this because of the memories. . . thank you
Bittersweet listening. Some sad ol memories but beautiful song

Couldn’t agree more. Just beautiful.
I was back stage with Robert Palmer.I asked him ,Who do you listen to ? He said JJ Cale

Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Mr Cool..love you JJ
J.J. had such a way with this song, makes me long for New Orleans nights gone by.
Yep, I was born there and raised in Mississippi. This song has special meanings to me. 💙
Best love 🎵 ever makes you want to snuggle n feel that stuff ❤ 💕 ♥

Incredible song even though the video is unwatchable.
Love this music
love this
Well, damn, that was so sweet. Thank you JJ.
love.
The best.
Anyone know what that guitar is? I know he played a Moonelectro by Steve Helgerson.
Sweet simplicity
Tipping his head like Clapton letting the band know he's coming in....
Beautiful. Who's playing the sax?

Haha, never mind. It's in the introduction. Skipped that.
Music is awesome but video made me dizzy.
U and me both
Also content.
Sucks that you put your AD across this video.... Ruins it totally
Maybe we all get....
something awry in the rhythm in this one
like as if they are not all in the same groove
the piano mostly I think
Ever body's a critic just enjoy 👨
