      I disagree a bit. Of course, Peak Weeknd is Trilogy Weeknd. But i feel like he progressed in a way with his music. He’s more experimental with his music and that’s what artists should do more. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the f**k boy version of The Weeknd, but so many OG fans complain about his style, and thats ok. Everyone is going to be like “I miss the old Weeknd” “I miss the old Bruno Mars” “I miss the old Kanye.” And I don’t get it. Just listen to the classics? Lol

    The Old Kanye wouldn't be relevant in 2022. How many artists Kanye came up with in the late 90s/Early 2000s are still outselling people 20 years into their career? Kanye is the only one. If Kanye did what the fans wanted his career would be over. Michael Jackson literally had like 5 musical careers because every album was a different mix of genres

      Exactly. The “old Kanye” I think it’s safe to say objectively made better music than the current Kanye but the reason Kanye has been a relevant high selling artist for 2 whole decades is because he evolves with every new album release, hence never allowing his style to become stagnant which is what keeps bringing in new fans

    I disagree with the Uzi playing it safe take, Eternal Atake was completely different from what Uzi dropped before, that’s why it got hated on as soon as it came out and it’s currently doing 4+ billion streams compared to WLR that is doing 1+ billion streams and they were released in the same year. I’m so tired of the narrative that EA wasn’t good or memorable when the numbers back it up. The people that comment Uzi fell off or people on Twitter that hate on Uzi don’t represent even a portion of their overall fanbase. The narrative can really change an overall opinion of something even if the numbers support it

      finally someone speaking sense, i also think duplee has a very shallow understanding of „development”, where u either just pull out a new sound out of your ass for the sake of being experimental while ignoring honing your particular style to perfection. This years Uzi E.P and especially songs like Final fantasy show that hes just amazing at producing melodies and the ambiance of his track is really on another lvl

    • @2crovv
      @2crovv 2 роки тому

      @@mk-ms6hc with that being said, because uzi mastered producing godly melodies, should he switch it up with pink tape, or play it safe? if u think he should switch, how do u think he should execute it?

      @mk-ms6hc 2 роки тому

      @@2crovv well for me personally, I dont mind him staying in the lane his in. He does not need to change the producets or the genre completely. My ideal pink tape would be a bit of a darker vibe with more vocal experimentation while still staying in line with what he is good at. I think i should also clarify that change is good i just wanted to say that doing a 180 is not always the right step and what one can call „development” you can do what ur good at while slightly challenging someones pre-conception of what a body of work from you would sound like.

    X didn’t change. I been with him from 2015, to now. His music has always been a chaotic beauty. You’ve got Look at Me, his most popular song. Fighting, sex, guns. Songs like Riot, which speaks on the violence we put against eachother as humans, then you have songs like Jocelyn Flores which speaks about a loss of a loved one. X has always been that real ass nigga that will speak on anything at any time he wants. He would flex but he’d still be humble enough to say he was just a regular human being and shouldn’t be compared to Tupac or Biggie.

    As a Coheed and Cambria fan, I can say this is not the only genre this happens to. So many people want an artist to just make the same album they grew up loving. Hell, I've heard Nine Inch Nails fans say that Trent Reznor made better music when he was on hard drugs and even say that they wish he never got clean.
    An artist is supposed to evolve. You can voice displeasure, reasonably, but at a point, it should come to "eh, its just not for me" and you should move on.

When he released No Pressure it was a return to form. A lot of fans say the old logic is back, I disagree. It doesn't sound the same, it sounds like the new Logic is passionate about making music again and that's what was missing, not his old sound or anything else, just passion and love in the music.

A lot has changed for him since those days and he finally got the recognition he always wanted so there was never any point of him staying stuck in the past. I think that's why Kanye is annoyed with "I miss the old Kanye" comments. Because at that time many people didn't find him serious about his rapping. He was doubted that he would do fashion. The 808 & Yeezus album was totally hated. In most of the things he predicted, he was a meme. And now everything has manifested and people say "We have always loved it. Since day 1." It's like "Why do you love the 808 & Yeezus albums now? Because it's old?"
    Reminds me when Outkast came into the rap game and who were treated disrespectfully because the were ATL rappers. Now they belong to the top 5-3 rap group of all time for many.

I miss when Kanye would make MBDTF or Late Registration because those are incredible albums, their both very different But i like them because they were made by the Old Kanye, The new Kanye maked Jesus is King and Donda and although I like Donda, It's not on the level of a project that Old Kanye would have made. It's the same With Em, I miss the Old Eminem because He would make When I'm gone, I am, Lose Yourself and Stan, amazing, quality music and ever since curtain call he makes Bornana or Ruins a Rihanna song. Finally with Andre 3000, I miss the Old Andre 3000 simply because he could get on a microphone and make an album with Big Boi, that is all I want, not for him to basically retire after dropping a dope Album where he did evolve and shift his style. I think the "I miss the Old" can be over used, like with all the examples in this video, but I think for some It's the best way to give your opinion on an Artist, good video tho.

    Joji is in my opinion the single greatest career switch of the 21st century because he had been planting the seeds for his eventual change up way back in the beginning. Bro's first album may be a meme album sure but that doesn't change the fact that it was a real album that charted in the top 70 I think of the Billboard hot 200. When he saw that his music was doing great, he decided it was finally time to pursue his original dream of being an artist and slowly ended the story of Francis of the filth and now look at him! His first album "Ballads 1" was highly regarded as a great album by critics alike who heard it, and now he's considered one of the best and most successful artists in the world with multiple Hot 100 breakthroughs including the critically acclaimed and highly praised "Glimpse of us" which peaked all the way at no. 8 on the charts.

    Quadeca is another artist that was big in the UA-cam scene and considered as the best UA-cam rapper, but has COMPLETELY reimagined himself with WAYYY better production, and just a higher quality of sound, not to mention him doing it all himself. Although he was considered the best UA-cam rapper, if he stayed musically where he was with generally decent beats and vocals he definitely musically wouldn't be where he is now. It also think he'll have album of the year this year

    growing up a late millenial i felt a lot of alienation during the unironic "only 90's kid will remember" era of the internet, because i used to like many of the media like cartoons/moveis/vidya/music early millenials liked, but then they also liked to shit on newer stuff i *also* liked, and i was like "yo wtf i respect your thang why you can't respect mine?" that's when i realized that such wave of nostalgia was literally just a product of the alienation they themselves feel because the cultural landscape they grew with was washed away by newer stuff that didn't appeal to them anymore, and furthermore i realized that this process was inevitably gonna happen to me as well. As such i've always strived to be humble about new stuff coming out and be critical of the old stuff even if it gives me a lot of nostalgia. Today's newer cultural innovations i'm out of the loop on are the things that current kids are growing up with and will feel nostalgic for and there ain't no reason to hate on that, the wolrd keeps on changing and it's better to embrace it

    Just saying, The Beatles had the exact same kind of backlash then. Everyone missed the 63-66 pop stuff they were doing, but all of that was really schlocky stuff compared to what they would go on to make. Now all you hear today is "The Beatles later years were their best" and it is true. The fans would eventually grow old, have children that loved new Beatles, and maybe even look back on that "bad stuff" and realize it's greatness finally. Fans don't know what they are talking about, no matter what the artist does. It's always an opposed response to something else that the artist does.

    Personally i prefer joey bada$$ older stuff to his new album, but that doesn't mean i cant enjoy what i can from it.
    As long as i find it enjoyable, then i don't mind what direction an artist goes in. If i don't enjoy it, i can say im not a fan of it and move onto something i do like, pretty simple.

    With Kanye, it’s not even nostalgia. His music has evolved so much, his new stuff is unrecognisable from his old stuff. So obviously the fans who fell in love with him back them aren’t gonna be as positive about his music now. Because it’s basically just a different artist making different music

Imagine making a hit off a whim and for the next 10-20 years you have it hear it and play it at concerts. Not sure about y'all but I'm over things I did a few months ago... just be happy they were there at the right time and made something good enough for you to enjoy
