I have another HikMicro Mini2, the square little one. I was thinking I would try this and send it back to amazon because I had a better feeling for the other brand, the Thermal Master P2. But I clearly see that this one has somehow a better image in the end... Why is so difficult to choose. I can't collect them like you do :D

In fact I'm testing the Mini2plus V2 right now and its image quality is really top notch! I was aiming at the ThermalMaster or the famous Infiray P2 Pro but now I think I will keep this one, let's see if it convinces me until the last day you can send it back!
I got the mini2plus v2. From a digital privacy perspective, I'm pleased that, though the app is proprietary, it does not appear to be part of a huge data harvesting operation (like proprietary apps usually are), does not require internet connectivity to function (though firmware updates do, for obvious reasons), and there does not appear to be any notable risk of access to your thermal camera being retroactively paywalled or altogether disabled, á la scamazon. The /e/OS tools found just one tracker, ad-related, which is pretty good for a proprietary app. As much as I dislike being required to use proprietary software for something like this, it looks like HIKMICRO are at least trying to do right by their customers, which is all I could ask for. The Analyzer software also looks pretty good. Runs a treat on the VM, but it's unstable under Wine without further fettling (which I've not attempted). A native linux version would be greatly appreciated, if their software department has the time. Publishing the API so that FOSS devs can do all that work is also a possibility. The probable upside is an increase in sales due to wider compatibility. I myself can't think of any downsides - it's not like they charge money for the software ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The silvered bags inside boxed wine + a clothes peg are great for insulating an inline DCH pump. Ditto big crisp packets. Taped together, either offers zero-cost behind-radiator heat reflectors 😊
I don't mind losing a little heat in the airing cupboard. We used to lose a lot from the last cylinder! Heat reflectors behind the radiators is less important with such low flow temperatures.
I've also seen your comparison video between the Thermalmaster P2 vs Topdon TC001, can you re-compare the Topdon TC001 vs. the Hikmicro Mini 2 V2 please? That would be awesome!

Hello, i'm afraid I no longer have this unit to be able to test for you but if the Hikmicro app doesn't then I can confirm that the Topdon app does have these functions.

A next gen one would use AI to measure the areas of each big-picture surface type, then Express it's current heat loss in kWh & W/m2. Then folks can compare results & see if their insulation is ang good compared to others' Excel interpolation + v-lookup of the technique gave my property figures that matched energy use pretty well. Let's hope the manufacturers watch your videos & read the comments 😊
100M? I'm not sure about that but it certainly works at approx 50M. Of course detail is not good at that range but it was easy to spot humans across a wide open field in the dark.
This P2 is much better than so many other cell phone thermal imaging cameras on the market. But it is too low-profile. There are not many videos of relevant reviews that can be found online
Never owned a mobile phone = yes I am that one person , is there a thermal gadget gun thing that has a built in screen rather than the gun thing that only read the temperature , I know you don’t need one but if you ever do a video on portable electric radiators can’t find any information in regards to the running cost per day be it oil filled or fan heating i think there’s a micathermic panel heater , thanks take care.
@@roblinc2u😂 it takes some time to put all the slides together etc and I've been doing some of my volunteer teaching work in the evenings too so I'm a bit behind. This thermal imaging camera video along with most of my stuff is recorded and edited weeks in advance and scheduled for publishing but the stats one is always a bit of a rush for me to try and get it out as soon as I can!

The difference between them all is fairly small at the end of the day.

I bought a P2 because I did a ton of HVAC and comfort seating in high end Chrysler vehicles (lol) and it's been fantastic. Thermal cameras are fun.

I like my P2. It was cheaper than the Mini v2 but works great for around the house, car, hvac, and work bench.

Even though both are spec'd at 256x192, the Mini 2 V2 appears to have a little sharper image quality.
Definitely appears that way. Not such a huge difference on the phone screen but easily noticeable on the recording.

Which one would you choose, the Hikmicro mini 2 v2 or the infiray p2 pro, and why? Not really needing the macro feature of the infiray.
If you don't need the macro then the Hikmicro is more versatile.

Mini 2 V2 is more versatile with better connectivity and adapters. Also marginally better quality.
Topdon have a better app IMO.
