The problem with the ducted fans on the bike wasnt drag, per se, it was that they were oriented perpendicular to the bike. When the bike took flight off the jump it wasnt perpendicular to the ground, it was nosewheel up, so the fans literally stopped it in mid air and it dropped like a rock.
Yeah, I was gonna say this in counter to the explanation at 7:32 . The fans likely could work if they were designed to pivot to always be pointing perpendicular to the ground, instead of vectoring some of their thrust backwards when coming off of the ramp.
If you want the fireworks to go off simultaneously, you'd stand a better chance if you used quick fuse on the rockets and a regular 30-sec/ft cannon fuse to give you some time to gt into the air. Then when the slow fuse ignites the quick, the fireworks would theoretically all go at once.
Great video! Thanks man. Do you think it would work better if you turned the kite the right way instead of upside down? You can see when you're riding along the ground. The kite is pushing the guy down LOL. Was that part of the strategy?

Almost no lift, and negative angle of attack on take off, Nice and light though, your best attempt in my opinion. try 15 % angle of incidence and adjust your balance backward a little. should work easy . 2)Another suggestion use 3 wheels. 3) On the delta wing you had negative angle of attack. 4) Other then the first one, your wings were top heavy 5) You should make them fly before you make them drive.

This was hilarious to watch. You never disappoint with your videos. You should turn off the flywheel once it is airborne or it will counteract all your surface controls. I'm running my flywheel on a Castle UBEC at lower voltage so it can run loser in turns and do tricks while jumping. The flywheel is great but too powerful for racing on a 1/8 scale off-road track. I also added a steering dampener on mine to prevent tank slapping.
When KSP taught me that you don't need aerodynamics if you had enough reaction wheels, I pretty much figured that was a lie. I am actually shocked to see the kite glider working so well
I think there is some interference between the controller of the bike and your mic. I hear a ringing sound for most of the video. At 14:55 there is no ringing till you pull the trigger on the controller.
Pretty sure the "ringing" you hear is the flywheel in the bike. Don't think an rc remote can interfere with a microphone, and if it would you'd hear it in all of his videos where he uses a rc vehicle
Kites are designed to be graphic side down, the cross bar is supposed to bend the other direction giving an inherent amount of dihedral to the wing. i hope you revisit that one .
I wonder if there has ever been a scientific study that proves that kids who played with gas and matches, grow up to have high levels of ingenuity and high problem solving skills
So many things done wrong! Lots of fun. I would have definitely angled the fans forward 45 degrees to keep the attitude more favorable. The last wing design needed some small wheels on the tips to keep it from dragging. It would have worked better with a dangling design where the wing can move in relation to the weight of the motorcycle. A simple gyro based flight controller would probable have been a good idea to tune a servo to change the weight and thus steer the wing in relation to the motorcycle weight. But can you ever go wrong with fireworks attached to toys?
Fun videos as always Merry Christmas to you guys. Didn't see it suggested yet unless I missed it but possibly add training wheels or a wheelie bar to stabilize it when the wings are on. Keep doing what you do I love all of your content!
The negative angle of attack on the ground would be creating down force, so when it turns, the down force pushes the inside wing tip down, making the bike go into a ground loop.
All I got from this video is I need one of those motorcycles because dang are they well made to take this level of abuse.
