Hi! Barbra was probably around 20 years old in this performance. She's the best. Did you know that she is currently recording a new album at 82 years old? I hear it is duets with stome incredible people like Paul McArtney, Sting, Ariana Grande and many more. I know what you are saying about today's singers-there are some great ones, but could they sing like this? Imagine anyone else having this control at 20 years old. LIke you've mentioned, she taught herself how to sing like that! I always like how she takes her time to sing it the way she wants to in order to tell the story.

It's an absolute masterclass. As fantastic as the singing is technically, she manages to infuse every syllable of every word with intense emotion and meaning--truly an actress who sings.
Very fine analysis, sir. Streisand was utterly exquisite here. Impeccable tonal control combined with that chilling Streisandesque emotionality.
The control is beyond anything I’ve heard. I didn’t know that could be done even with her. Those notes were amAzing!
And in the 1960s, no auto-tune that so many current vocalists depend on, or are required to have, because they truly are not that talented. Barbra's a true talent. A treasure.
She recorded this on The Third Album, March 1964.

Omg!!! Woke up and was so excited to hear my name and that you watched my recommendation. Wow! Couldn’t stop laughing listening to you going for that tongue twister of a title. Barbra started her career with these classic standards. When you think she’s apparently releasing a new album this year at 82 and she is a mere 21 here! Her reverence by others singers is not only the absolute beauty of the voice, but the mind boggling control and acting ability as well. It’s as if she lures you in and you forget to breathe. This was the beginning of a beyond extraordinary career. It’s truly remarkable.
Now skip forward to 1986 where she did a concert in her backyard called One Voice. Same concert where she sang with Barry Gibb. It’s full of jewels but her rendition of Somewhere over The Rainbow.. Beyond!!

You are so right about the dinamics. I'd say that's one of the main things missing from most moderning singing these days. Of course, the use of that outstanding control is one of the signature features of Barbra's performances. Now, let's jump forward 60 years, and listen to rigorously "live" performance of the same song at age 72. Nobody can expect someone to sound "the same" at 72 as they did at 20, and guess what, NOBODY DOES and when I say NOBODY, I mean NOBODY. oh my God now that I think of it, I don’t think you’ve reacted to Ms. Streisand singing with Judy Garland on her show they perform a medley of Happy Days Are Here Again and get happy if you have not reacted to that then get on it young man 😂😂
