@@KrzyshtophHe made a comment at the start of the season about how he likes how much Brendan engages with the players and how much he liked that. People assumed that was a dig at Ange since he was famously very distant from the players at all times. He also made a comment when Turnbull got a few starts in the first few games, about how he was too good to be starting on the bench and how the previous season was tough on him. Could be seen as a dig at Ange, but he did come out and say the comments weren’t aimed at him - but who knows!
Great analysis as usual. On memory recall I saw it as Celtic could have been 4 -1 up at half time had Butland not been playing like Corgi The Cat. Had Maeda kept his cool and Matt with his penalty it could have been more. I don’t really remember many shots on target from them 2nd half.
Great show as usual guys ... i was feeling exactly the same as Alan at the final whistle i was annoyed that we didnt put them to the sword ... really think we could have hammered them on the day but delighted with the win at the end of the day
Hi guys let me start by saying that I’m a huge fan of this channel- it’s in my top 3 Celtic podcasts. This wasn’t your finest work today- Enda looked completely distracted and asked open ended questions that neither James or Alan seemed to know who was supposed to answer. I thought overall the sentiment of the podcast was really negative (and uncharacteristically demonstrated very little understanding of the wider context of the game for the players) and even bordered on begrudging. I don’t have green tinted spectacles- I don’t think this is the best team to ever pull on the hoops jersey but do I think this is one of the best league win in years and should be shouted from the roof tops. and in my opinion that’s not what we got here (you’d nearly be forgiven for thinking we’d lost at the weekend). The strength of this podcast has always been the data driven insights into the game that people like me don’t see or understand just watching it and we got none of that today. Hope you guys read this and that this is a one off - thanks for all the hard work that goes into this podcast- I would not have said above if I didn’t hugely value what you do.
It would be interesting to know what your other top 2 Celtic podcasts are, but for me the very easy option for The Huddle Breakdown would have been to say that this was the very best League Title success ever because it most certainly isn't, but what it is is arguably the most important & winning that £60 million & indeed if I remember correctly without listening to it again, James said that winning this season's League Title was more strategically significant & important than winning the Ten In A Row & factually for me he is completely correct on this, but for me emotionally, I would rather we had created history & succeeded in completing Ten In A Row & still even now would swop this season's League Title & the £60 million for Ten In A Row every day of the week!!!! As for your feelings that '' the sentiment of the podcast was really negative'' it just might be that you mistook their ''negativity'' for just sheer pure relief that we did win the League & the £60 million & I certainly remember dear old Alan saying right at the start of the season before a ball was even kicked that whatever else happened this season, we just had to win the League & that this was our one & only priority & I'm sure you were also of the exact same view, because I certainly was & said so continually on this & other Celtic podcasts throughout the season & my own personal relief at us winning the League after the Glasgow derby victory turned to more celebratory joy after the excellent 5-0 win at Kilmarnock last night & I will be even more joyous after we trounce St Mirren at Celtic Park on Saturday!!!!!
@@frankbrennan1619 hi Frank- the huddle breakdown is joint first with E Tims (recommended by Alan btw on this podcast), and I also really like the Celtic exchange - slightly green tinted lenses but I think the content and tone is very good. Re the negative impression - James saying these were two sh’t teams was pretty negative and I don’t agree with that (although he’s way more qualified than me to comment), I think we’re ok, I think we played some really good football in the first half and first part of second. Yes they created half chances but we created way more beyond the goals. I also think the size of the occasion was completely ignored- this was a game to more or less win the league and missing the penalty had a huge impact on the team and gave Rangers oxygen. I think they deserved huge credit for not collapsing (as they have done before at Parkhead) and grinding the game out. I appreciate every single podcast the guys produce, I completely get that it’s a thankless unpaid job with idiots like me taking a swipe every once in a while but the quality of this one was just so much lower than their normal standards that I felt I had to say something.
@@paddycairns1972 When it comes to opinions Paddy, we all have them as you well know & for sure there are no ''experts'' or that some of us more ''qualified'' to state our opinions & guess what, we'll disagree now & then or even frequently & emotions & feelings will get stirred too, because that's only ever what football is all about, with some great highs & the unavoidable lows & disappointments & no matter that we all know, or should do, football is first & foremost a ''business'' with everything that involves & having to adhere to strict budgets as Celtic just ALWAYS have to do etc etc & truth be told that for me, I just love listening to James & all that he says & his football analytical knowledge delivered with his charming American accent & I have no idea of his family background & where his love & knowledge of Celtic comes from exactly, but for me it's only ever a case of how does this Yank know so much & speak so authoritatively & in depth about ''soccer'' for an American & yes I know how patronising al of this sounds, but for me you just don't hear anywhere else the stuff that James speaks of & so there will be occasions or indeed many, as with you in this particular instance, some will find what he says slightly jarring or off-putting in a particular context, although overall still a big fan of his & yes of course, there is ALWAYS a place for the continual & persistent happy clappy, give Brendan the money, sack the Board type Celtic podcasts that proliferate the world wide web but there's only the ONE Huddle Breakdown!!!
I wasn't shocked or surprised in the slightest by Hatate's completely awful performance in the Glasgow derby & hopefully his most demented & devoted fanboys can also agree on that but probably not & as I've said previously on a number of occasions, Hatate went completely in the huff last summer when he didn't get a move to little Brighton or Ange not taking him doon to Spurs & he was so huffy puffy Rodgers had to pick Turnbull ahead of him when he was fit at the start of the season & so now for sure, Hatate NEEDS dropping off at the Departure Lounge of Glasgow Airport at the very earliest opportunity that is humanly possible & for Celtic Football Club's sake more than his.
@@echotonal You might think so mate & that's perfectly fine, but my comments are a pretty fair & a pretty accurate summation of what happened with Hatate last summer & then him being out injured for the vast majority of this season & for sure, it was totally unfair & unreasonable too, for Hatate's devoted fanboys to expect him to really turn it on when he did eventually return to the fold only a few games ago & understandably all we've seen is the odd glimpse or two from him, but now after last Saturday's Invisible Man McCarthy like ''performance'' God only knows what Hatate it will be who turns up for the Scottish Cup Final & of course, his very last appearance for us in a competitive game...
We have not replaced our main creative losses from last year. Jota and Mooy. Let's hope the ship doesn't sink in the mouth of the harbour this coming season.
Scoreline doesn't reflect the game very well. They got almost no joy from their "tactics" despite us getting very nervous. Watch it back knowing the result and you see a different game. But there are 11 other teams (ie not us) in the premiership and 11 of them look for lighted balls to our left side as a route to attack. Be it long diagonal or deep crosses to the back posts. That's a clear sign we need to strengthen here, significantly. If we score the penalty and it's 3, it would end up 5 or 6. Us missing that penalty definitely gave them a boost.
Would love to see james or Alan pull some data on potential targets for next season. James says quite a lot about athleticism who would he say would improve us? Would make a good episode over ☀️
A resurgence from the dark side last night after once again going two behind is typical of them the past few months. This season was one of those 'inflection points' on the footballing Power curve. And Rangers missed it. By this i mean this season was a rare opportunity for Rangers to catch Celtic financially and level-up to Celtics financial might. As James Said Celtic are the Bayern Munich of Scotland and the structural difference between Celtic and Rangers is large but this season represented Rangers an opportunity to catch Up but they flopped again. However next season also represents another opportunity for the Rangers to claw Back some parity but after next season There wont be Many opportunities for Rangers because the Champions League Route will be very difficult for at least 4 or 5 seasons. Next season IS the key season If Celtic want to build another 10 in a row tilt
We have a lot of work to do for next season. We could lose every single signing from last year Lagerbielke, Nawrocki, Yang, Tillio, Parma, Holm and not miss any of them. That is 20 million pound spent and no improvement to the team. The guys that got us over the line were more or less signed 2 -3 years ago. Needs to be huge improvement in the way we spend money.
Absolutely Liam & indeed the work to be done this summer is even more than that of last summer & so this new guy Mark Cooper who has been brought in to replace Lawwell Jnr & Dudgeon as Head of Recruitment/Scouting has a ginormous task on his hands & no matter that the bar has already been set very low with the TEN duds we signed last summer & Kuhn in January at a cost of TWENTY THREE MILLION pounds & all of them on very silly huge FIVE YEAR deals & NONE of whom were in the starting eleven for the Glasgow derby & that tells you ALL about them & their character sadly....
Great show guys. I saw a stat on twitter about how our win percentage with Hatate this season is over 90% vs way lower without. Is this just coincedence, given when he returned, or is there underlying performance data suggesting he has had a major impact on our result's.
If O'Riley is going this season, I hope it's to an English side who tend to pay over the odds. Although, I am not resigned to losing him this summer. We'll see how it goes.
I think this was overly negative, we havent played well over the season. But this is strategic victory for Celtic and will influence the Scottish game for years to come.
The very last thing this vlog was & is is ''overly negative'' & dare I say you've been watching too many other happy clappy Celtic podcasts that completely lack or choose to totally shy away from, ANY real true & proper objective analysis about ANYTHING & so are only cheerleaders for who & what they like & what's popular or not popular in the moment & no matter what the true & proper facts really are & that's perfectly okay & indeed many like this la la land approach to all things Celtic, but there also just has to be some kind of fully grown up adult talk too, because we are talking grown ups here & that's where The Huddle Breakdown comes in & last but not least, we're Champions again, Champions again!!!!!!
I thought that if everyone took their chances it could’ve been 4-2 in the first half. Quite exciting. Second half was disappointing that we couldn’t pile on the pressure. The penalty miss didn’t help but I have to give MOR a bit of slack. Butland’s jedi mind tricks did their part in putting him off. But, if not for him, we would not have won. HH guys
We were playing at walking pace at the back for lots of the second half as we had so.much space and time. That can't have helped the more forward minded players and no doubt contributed to our malaise in my opinion.
Once again James got it completely spot on with his prediction of a '' nervy 2-1 win'' in the Glasgow derby & I agreed with him, so I got it right too (!!) & at the risk of sounding like a complete James toady, he has also got it totally correct with his assertion that these are '' two bad Teams'' & for all the reasons he outlines in this video & that have been said previously, but as we all know, or should do, there are many out there who still believe that there really is some huge ''qualitative'' gulf between us & them when there completely isn't, but instead ONLY that we hitherto have been better ''in the big moments'' when they completely haven't been & praise the Lord for that otherwise it would be them & not us getting our hands on the £60 million for winning the League. As for the fast approaching Scottish Cup Final, this is yet ONLY another instance of ''fine margins'' & ''nip & tuck'' & of course we want to win it, but in terms of anything ''strategic'' as to what happens in the summer & beyond, it really is a meaningless Final for the losing Team on the day because for sure, Clementine won't be almost immediately sacked if we win, although there will of course be all the demented hysteria on social meedya for that to be his fate & it just might be a very close run thing if we do win 5-0 (we won't) but yet another Glasgow derby defeat will only put ginormous pressure on him & so if there is no perfect start to next season, then Clementine will be getting sacked in the October just like his predecessor, whilst if we lose, Brenda's standing in the minds of those who think he really is ANY kind of an ''elite'' Manager will take a significant blow & particularly if the summer transfer window only yet again miserably fails to deliver.
I wasn’t pleased at how wasteful we were an how much we let them come forward without being punished especially with them having 10 men but that heat was intense a break should have been had all other spfl games had one. Willie Collum helped rangers in the latter stages giving them silly free kicks around the halfway line even called them back when they took the quick free kick an told them to move into celtics half an retake to which they did an it wasn’t short it was shelled on top of Taylor
Brendan' Rogers will build a good side for next season, the Matt oreily money and the season book money will be his,the champions league money will pay the wages and top up the bank balance.
Yeah, despite the nerves that obviously crept in, Celtic were never in danger. Rangers were never winning that game - 1 shot on target the whole game? Lol.
@@kennyp9616 We all know, or should do, that we ONLY do our business in the completely overcrowded & totally saturated market of purchasing £1million - £5million ish players & this market is ONLY ever COMPLETELY fraught with players who have real serious flaws to their overall game & at 19/20 - 23/24 years of age these serious flaws are now NEVER EVER going to be completely eradicated & no matter how good the Coach is coaching them & this is completely proved with the NINE duds we signed last summer & another one in January at a cost of TWENTY THREE MILLION pounds & so surely new Head of Recruitment / Scouting Mark Cooper can do far better than this, indeed he just has to?
Lets face it Celtic got away with one this season. Rodgers was a genius Sports psychologist and deserves Credit. Overall, Rangers didnt have Cortes Danilo and Sima and i expect them to sign those Guys next season. We are only marginally ahead of Rangers and we need to pull away next season
game state played a big part. you go 2 nil up and the opponent suddenly has every imperative to chuck the kitchen sink at you. you keep it to a 1 goal lead and the opponent plays it tighter not wanting to concede more
Another thing...If Scales is back up in Europe next season, are we expecting him to stop ball-watching? His defending at the Dessers goal was really pathetic and it's not the first time.
The facts are ONLY ever that if NOT for Liam Scales, we would have been in the most serious of real trouble when we had our centre back injury crisis at the start of the season & us winning the League is in no small way down to his individual overall steady & unstylish consistency of performances & these facts MUST never ever be forgotten when we look back on this season in the years to come & of course there's a but coming & here it is, but the facts are also he should NEVER EVER have been given a new huge big whopping FOUR YEAR deal because he's COMPLETELY not the answer for the future, sadly, because he's COMPLETELY not going to develop & improve & certainly when it comes to pace, or his lack of it.
@@frankbrennan1619 I agree on the first part completely and on your assessment of limitations but I think he’s a squad player going forward and will work well in that role especially for the SPL
@@paddycairns1972 Indeed Scales is ''a squad player'' & a squad player who got ''lucky'' this season with the amount of games he played, but squad players NEED to play some meaningful & frequent games in the course of the season, otherwise they stagnate & indeed regress because they hardly ever play, as in the case of Welsh & Ralston, who it can be said on a personal level, took the very easy option of simply being a Celtic squad player who hardly ever plays, whereas they would be playing every week if they were at the likes of a Hibs or a Dundee & for me if you're 24 or 25 years of age & describe yourself as a professional footballer, you just NEED to be playing for huge chunks junks of the season instead of sitting on the bench or in the stands....
I think Brendan should be in there at his board saying this is what I can do with a malfunctioning squad of misfits. If you back me for a couple of windows we can really pull in serious Champions League money, build a team for Europe and leave Rangers in the dust. Effin get into them.
Please don’t rely on social media for the Celtic supporters position regarding Brendan. There’s more not on twitter than is

We said the same last season aboot the Jota money.
HAIL HAIL lads 🍀
Yeah, despite the nerves that obviously crept in, Celtic were never in danger.
Rangers were never winning that game - 1 shot on target the whole game? Lol.
Hopefully none of this 2 million cheap project players nonsense next tranfer window
Don't you even start to think that we'll be signing ANYTHING like a handful of £7 million or £8 million types in the summer....
@@frankbrennan1619crazy that we were signing them during the Martin O'Neill years but it'll probably be Primark signings again... ..hope I'm wrong
How much are they going to buy Sima for?
Danilo isn't a loan. That's Silva
@@Celticsamuraiblue I really don't think you're in a position to speak about court cases lad. I'd sit this one out
@@Celticsamuraiblue did you donate to Celtic in 1994 when they died? Maybe you would have been a bit young!

🔊 GO ON THE CELTS. 🏆🥇 😎
game state played a big part. you go 2 nil up and the opponent suddenly has every imperative to chuck the kitchen sink at you. you keep it to a 1 goal lead and the opponent plays it tighter not wanting to concede more
Why is there two Sevco fans on a Celtic podcast trying to flog a false narrative?
😆🤣
Old blue jumper is back.. This guys got form for this sh!t.. .. 🤦🏼♂️😂
It's just a colour. It's not a rangers top
Old blue jumper has never gone away ya daft trucker...
Thank you captain obvious. @@J.D.1.
lol they stopped doing live streams because i kept swearing at them
I think it's more of a case Wee Enda getting more days off than Father Christmas.....
Who is the guy in blue... talks complete pants. They had to come out and we had to defend while nerves and fatigue took over. 🤦♂️
The guy in the blue talks complete analytical sense & many like you find that very difficult to even to begin to comprehend...
