best AI for enemies I have encounters in a game so far has been in gears of war and in blackstone fortress. The former is randomly drawn if then else statements and blackstone is just random action tempered by simple if conditions. It was a bit fiddly in Blackstone but it really works out pretty good.

I would be interested in your review of "Five Parsecs from Home".

Thanks Keith. I've actually got it in my queue to give another look at.

I tried this out as soon as my copy of Stargrave arrived. The major difficulty I had was keeping track of the enemy units. A Trooper can be armed with the same weapons as one of the specialists with slightly different stats. I used some Gene Stealer Cult models which all look very similar as the enemy gang, which was probably a mistake. I'm already having to keep track of 8-10 units on my own team and I got lost as far as who was who on the other team. Keeping track of 20 units, for me, was a little much, especially when the stats for most of them are very similar. As a solo experience, I greatly prefer Five Parsecs From Home in that your team consists of six models, but all six of them can level up and I find that much more interesting. The combat is simplified enough that it is not so overwhelming. (I'm using the 2nd rules for Parsecs). If you have not tried it yet Joel, you really should, but it may be a little light for your tastes. I love the way it randomly tells a story through the various tables. Similar to Necromunda, the actual skirmishes are over in just a few minutes and then there are various rolls to determine what happens from a story perspective.

I've looked into it, but haven't had a chance to play it. Maybe I got enough practice soloing all of my games of Stargrave so far, so I didn't have too much trouble tracking anything. I just left the book open to the two page spread with all the soldier stats :)

I love the added player idea for a competitive option using solo AI

I haven't tried it yet, but I really like the solo scenario generator idea. This is what I was hoping for from Perilous Dark. I'll probably port this system over to Frostgrave and make decks of "marks" and environments.
    Thanks for the review!

I would consider the target point the hostage or the Mark/mark token (after takedown). If there are no crew members in line of sight or in range.

I think that would make sense a good portion of the time, but depending on how you set up the table, they all may just clump around one spot... which maybe is a good thing :)

@@DriveThruReview true maybe they consider the mark or hostage of super high importantance which then turns it into a tactical game of Tom Clansey's Rainbow Six Sci fi. Giving a good reason to use smoke grenades and flamethrowers to clear out those pesky corridors Lol.

I often wing this kind of solo maneuvering…whatever is harder for me..don’t make the baddies cluster out of cover just to sit on a target etc…as a solo player im fine with that

I'll try. There's a lot of stuff out for it now so the team matchups shouldn't bother me so much :)
