How to approach drawing women: Openly and casually but don't interrupt her, she's trying to draw.

I actually relate to your approaches! Recently when I was drawing a woman who is dancing, I looked up tons of ballet references for the foreshortening of the arm & I used the line of action method to understand the flow of her body. Honestly, I’m still an amateur at anatomy but for me it just really helped by starting with the head & working my way downwards with the neck, torso & so on. Even if the initial guidelines look like a stick figure, it’s alright as long as you understand your subject & try to highlight the important aspects of your artwork. Hope this helps! ❤

Hi ergojosh. I saw your post looking for feedback, and figured I'd see if i could give any.
First thing that I have experience with is the vocl-cut-ins as sound effects. This is a bold choice, and potentially a distracting/offputting one. They overpowered your own voice in terms of both volume and in being higher pitch/treble than your speaking voice. So you'd need to either fit those within pauses of your own speech, or balance their decibels to be both audible but background to your own voice. They didn't really play in the rest of the video, but having a few are the start creates the expectation that they will be frequent throughout the runtime. This may explain the viewers leaving the vid early. The non-vocal sfx sounded perfect, because nonvocals didnt clash with your vocals. You also use them much better at the end of the video than the beginning.
You also asked about offensiveness. I don't think anything in the video was offensive outside of one particular slip up. When you were describing the one woman's eyes on the vogue picture, you were just trying to find a way to describe the expression. But I think your word choice may have been too close to established stereotypes. Even when being positive, people can respond negatively to such statements. If you had said, "she's narrowed her view and created a very sharp expression" or something like that, might have gone over better.
As for the format, i don't think there is anything wrong with thos format, and i think it can succeed. But i think the issueay lay in the title. Anything with "How To" and people expect that tutorial, that step by step, yknow? If the title were "exploring drawing from reference," or even something a bit cheeky like, "sketching bikini models from reference," you'd have a title and capture more of the vibe of this video. Which is less a tutorial but a freeform description of your method as you're doing it.
It is a great video regardless of the views not being where you want it! I'm happy to talk more if you want. If you're on blusky my handle is SocraTetris 👍🏾

It’s always the foreshortening that drives me crazy!
Also I know ur work is primarily digital but I’d love to hear ur approach to how u setup ur art for different situations. Like ur go to sizes/measurements, thoughts on vectors and how u would set things up for prints. Basically the technical side 😅

Hey don't say that your vids aren't doing well. They're awesome and very transparent as always, it's just that people are too lost. Everything has become so lame and messed up. We don't know where we're going with our lives. Plus the whole AI thing has pretty much caused artists and digital artists loose all motivation. Infact it's so hard to differentiate between real hand made digital art or ai made art. This is one of the reasons the art community is dead. You don't stop doing what you always do best. Thanks for always being the best art therapist.

At this point in my art skill level, I tend to subconsciously use all of these methods. Some drawings use all of them in one piece while others don’t, just depends on what my end goal is for that specific art piece. I tend to prefer to lean more gestural, since it turns out less stiff looking.

I'm a tattoo artist and have been for 15 years. I switched to the ipad a few years and agree it streamlines the entire process however, do you not think that the lack of permanence and the ability to just tap and delete, or cut and move elements on a whim makes you draw with less intent? I find when drawing on paper it pushes me to get it right first time and makes each stroke all the more important.
