We live in this bizarre period in time when mediocrity has never been more celebrated.
The 80s literally exist
How would you define mediocre? He’s clearly one of the most popular/best in his field (from someone who has never watched him before/will ever watch him)
The kids are more aware these days of what it takes to make it. Children who are serious about football, are in academies and playing football. The kids who go to/enjoy celebrities playing football matches, likes celebrities...
We live in a time when life is easiest in its history, appreciate that boys.
This right here, you don't hear about the kids wanting to become footballers because they're too busy becoming footballers. You don't hear about future presidents because they're too busy becoming that.
bit rich of TalkSport to have this segment when they pay Rory Jennings to spew his clickbait nonsense takes on the air
I thought he was a Real fan not someone who jumped on a bandwagon 6 months ago.
@@gavinmitchell4477 no loooool he’s been a Chelsea UA-camr since 2011
@@TapesProductions Real 😂 good one.
@@shadow_realm47he’s not a voice for Chelsea fans. Neither is the old fella who has an afternoon show before drive. The person who closely represents Chelsea fan views on Talksport is Cundy. He’s in tune with what most match going fans think.
@@gavinmitchell4477The point is he’s a UA-camr whether he’s a real fan or not it’s crazy how UA-camrs have become the new celebrities and a credible voice for actually doing nothing but existing
kids saying they wouldn't play for Palace aren't good enough to be playing professional football anyway
This was going to be my point. The OVERWHELMING MAJORITY are not, and will never be good enough to play at the top level. So why strive for something unattainable? Anyone can be a viral sensation. Anyone, for anything! But only a select few can be a top athlete, even with hard work.
That's exactly why it is a silly discussion.
At 15 or 16, they know if they will never make it to pro football - but YT becomes an option.
Let’s just be real mate…
No Kid is tryna watch Crystal Palace vs Fulham 💀💀
Even though Palace are playing decent football rn, the Headline just isn’t sexy enough
Every generation in history has complained about the generation coming after them…… even though they raised em 😂
What’s your point
@@AntJay-kc7ps The social environment created by the older generation influenced the culture of the younger generation. Older generation complain but they are partly at fault.
@@vexto4592 And what relevance does that have to anything the problem remains and you can complain and still take accountability for influencing something which people do
@@AntJay-kc7pswho ever takes accountability for it though?
@@saab2906 That’s the problem
Absolutely zero self awareness. Football at the top level is gone. Ticket prices, subscriptions to watch all the games, players earning absolute fortunes. Young players at all these top clubs have no motivation to succeed because they are already earning a fortune without having to make it. Sky sports is the beast that is killing the game from top to bottom.
Why shouldn’t players earn fortunes they make the club their money this is probably the dumbest agenda football fans have if you was making a company hundreds of millions what would you expect to be seeing
the kids see relatively low barriers to entry/ an easy route to become "famous" through youtubing - speed went from a nobody to being invited to private parties.... becoming a famous footballer takes a lot more effort and talent - kids are just looking for the easiest path to notoriety
100% accurate
A capitalist society values charisma and connections over being a good implementor. That's what separates a mere 8-5 employee to being a CEO/Manager of a big company. Look it up. Having a large network and being a good communicator are valued more. What speed did is not easy. He's part of the top 1% that made it all thanks to his relatable attitude and network.
@@vexto4592 this may be true but most people under 20 don't consider that when picking a career - it purely comes down to how easy a job 'looks' to how much it pays.. speed has put in work but the outside optics of content creation will always be that it is an 'easy job'
@@juliushibbert3334 acting a fool in your bedroom "putting in work"
Most of these UA-camrs are scammers. They couldn’t care less about the people that watch them. Just give me your money and most of their audience is under 15
Exactly . Look at all the crypto scams they run , that shows you what they really are about .
in what field does the product/company care about the consumer? don't be a child. the world is about profit.
Tell me about it kiddo, not like it was back in my day. The stars of my days truly cared about kids, like my fave...Jimmy Saville.
they feeding woke message with the marketing
@@hassyg4083 hmm if you watched the likes of speed you'd realise they're anything but woke, in fact you wouldn't let your kids watch him given how their humour/jokes are. The assumption gen are woke couldn't be further from the truth, lot of them are absolute bellends
I'm more concerned that none of these kids wanna be engineers or doctors. I'm a teacher and soooo many kids are holding onto pipedreams without even considering a backup plan.
For me it comes down to availability, kids don't watch as much football because it costs far to much! We're as UA-cam is free and always available on your phone.
Yup. The EPL/UCL turned football into a cartel and hid it behind a paywall. Champions league used to be free to view on ITV, now you need a pricey TNT subscription unless you pirate it lol
As Tom Brady said about the young NFL players these days, they want to be stars not champions. They would prefer to be famous and have highlight reels on UA-cam than be champions.
Ishowspeed will probably get to hand the european trophy to the winners this summer. The way its going........
Well he also did the cheese roll down the hill. Give him credit for that.
definitely
The UA-camrs are usually just talented enough to have an internet connection
What ?? Make sense of that will ye. That the best you could think of saying
Funny you say that yet it’s one of the mose freeing jobs there are. Entertainment is so importwnt
Its the world we live in kids want to be famous and not work
Have you done a survey and asked them all?
That ishowspeed guy is just weird in my opinion. A clown. Can't be taken seriously
Well yh duh and he plays up to it knowing it gets him followers and money. Don’t think he wants to be taken seriously
Yeah don’t take him seriously. He’s just having fun on the internet, not harming anyone
Yep and getting paid handsomely to do so while living the dream.
He’s harmless. He’s made the most out of a crazy generation, fair play to him. Minted now
I agree in a way but we’re not his target demographic
“I wanna be Brent Goldbridge” 🤨
"I wanna be Mark Goldbridge" 🤣
They don't want to be him. It's just a guy who makes them laugh. It's not this deep. Stick to actual topics. You are reaching
Yeah I agree they should stick to actual topics. But I have to say I think it’s a sad state of affairs that he’s thought of as funny. Admittedly I’ve only seen a couple of things from him to see what it’s about, but it seems like he just gets irrationally angry and starts barking 🥴 pretty weird
@@oufc90he might not be funny to you but he is funny to other so to each is there own just ignore it an move on
Thing is kids do idolise these types of social media people, not just find them funny. They try emulate their pranks and the mentality is different, based on likes and what gets attention, less what is actually modest talent. It's a race to the bottom where each newcomer has to be more stupid than before to garner new attention. Mind you there's always been clowns that kids find funny so nothing new in that context. Bent at the beginning quoting kids saying they'd rather be like him than a Prem footballer if they're not a too team - they want an easy pass to the top without the work as though top players haven't worked at their craft, too much work for them. So it very much is that deep overall
@@Allegro_Giusto some parents need to take the responsibility of censoring what there kids watch no kid under 15 should be watching I show speed parents just aren’t involved in there kids lives an when there kid’s idolized idiots they blame society instead of blaming themselves for not monitoring what there kids are being exposed to
@@Neville-ne5fp Yep 100%. And by the time these kids grow to teenagers they're already hooked in. Problem is every kid on social media is told you can have it all, work smarter not harder, do something you love blah blah, all the usual rhetoric. And when push comes to shove, when they're an adult, they're not prepared for realising not everyone, and i mean most people, aren't in jobs they love or famous etc, then comes the depression and blaming others, the government, the whoever it's easy to blame. OK now I'm going deep, but I'm not lying right lol? Hopefully we start curbing age redtriction or something for social media access for under 16s quite a bit, but it's not being done fast enough.
Football fans also support their favourite players over their team. Our generation is fucked
It’s like just being an influencer. People leave their jobs to go on Love Island.
“Old men yell at clouds” vibes
This is sadly true. My kid plays sports and I am trying my best to stay him away from neighbours’ kids who spend most of their time on screens. Some 4 and 6 years old with iPhones waking up 4-5 am to watch videos on UA-cam and play video games is criminal.
If you are 15 or 16, and not in an academy, or playing special football, then you already know you won't be a professional footballer at an elite club.
... but YT is a definite option at that age.
This is a ridiculous comparison, if you think about it just a little bit.
It's all extremely gay

Loved every second of this kid section. 👏🏾s to Papa Simon for some good raising.

Pot calling the kettle black
Think kids would rather be a UA-camr more because it seems more attainable. Everyone wanted to be a footballer but most kids weren’t talented enough, weren’t fit enough, even genetically not good enough; most clubs turn away goalkeeper that aren’t projected to be 6’4. When you see UA-camrs anyone can be one, you just need a personality that resonates with people. Nowadays UA-cam’s live the same lives as footballers without having to be good at one specific aspect of life
Its funny
Cause they talking about this in on UA-cam
I'm not surprised kids want to be on their phone at a women's football game.
I’m surprised Schmeltz didn’t call in
It's too expensive to watch football unless you have a dodgy box ,pricing kids out of the game
Wait until he hears about Neon
Old people (like the speaker) have to understand that times have changed. When you were small, your parents used to be baffled by your inclination to rock music, etc. Times change, preferences change. Its the era of podcasts, youtube stars etc. It just is. This will to go away and future kids will be doing some "ready go player" type of things. It is what it is. Just accept and move on. Play your bingo, take a walk, do what old people do.
kids will be kids man it’s like people forgot what it’s like to be kids especially those who wanted to fit in.
It’s not that deep. These UA-camrs are the new stars for the younger generation. We grew up on PJ and Duncan they grow up on IShowspeed or KIS.
I genuinely have no idea who their talking about!
I was just about to write the same thing myself, who the fook is he??
They are talking about a youth with more UA-cam followers than talksport
they chatting about a cool black dude that entertains
Look it up yeah close the app you on now and open Google. Sorted 👍
@@hassyg4083 He's anything but cool.
he is correct. kids look up to idiots nowadays
In a few years time the men's game will play second fiddle to the women's game, it wont improve much in quality but with good spin and the right voices they'll 'persuade' us it's worthy of the status they bestow on it. And keep banging on about "record crowds". Anyone else notice how the BBC seemed to enjoy announcing the men's fa cup final last Saturday was a few thousand below full capacity or so they claimed?
Baffling nothing would beat smashing a goal in the Premier league
Its the want it now without working or gaining any experiences generation, years training to be the professional is not the mindset they've been conditioned
His oldest video on his youtube account is 6 years old? i don't know anything about the guy tbh but it's a little ignorant to say they dont have the mindset to train for years when they have been building there brand up for literally years.
Technically you guys are UA-camrs 😂
It is about fun for children. No adult takes ishowspeed seriously.
As if a footballer is a profound career. It's a bunch of men chasing a ball! Sounds like a prison activity to kill time and should've stayed as one. We need engineers and docs and soldiers! Farmers! The world is coming to a terrible end without men and women of true beneficial professions and skills to make survival a little easier. Sports should be for fitness and fun, that's it.
I genuinely have no problem at all with Speed. As an adult, I find his content watchable most of the time when he is out in the real world
Without social media - youtube!! We wouldn't know about talksports.
Older people not understanding social media as always
Only idiots would rather be a UA-camr than a footballer I’m 20 and would defo pick a footballer and I watch UA-cam everyday
Bloody hell let the kids have fun. Every generation says this about the previous one.
Give over... It's no different to our generation wanting to be a movie star ffs. Why should a youngster not shoot high and say i want to play for a united, city, Liverpool arsenal, Chelsea etc. Why would you want to be a footballer with gutter press
There is a UA-cam Charity football match today sold out Selhurst Park every year there is a UA-cam football match’s that brings kids that love UA-cam to enjoy football so I don’t think that it will effect the game plus having UA-camrs on Sky Sports then bring kids that watch UA-cam to watch football it’s quite an intelligent move tbh
I think u can thank tiktok for the short attention spans and any short videos on social media
Mr Bent here's a thought maybe try limit your kids screen time

Old men angry at the clouds
Some people wake to say all this Malarkey. It’s shocking
But you ain’t baffled with kids looking up to cardi B , linas x or Logan Paul scamming. Please think before you pick a topic 🤨
Like seriously Who cares what Andy Goldstein thinks??
Football becoming a game of 4 quarters has been around for years. I can see that coming up.
Maybe these kids know they aint got what it takes to play football.
This isn't so farfetched. The OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of kids are not, and will never be good enough to play at the top level. So why strive for something unattainable? Anyone can be a viral sensation. Anyone, for anything! But only a select few can be a top athlete, even with hard work.
Ishowspeed is more influential to kids because he actually goes out and interacts with them and entertains them. Football players play on a pitch for 90mins and then you don’t see them next week till the are on the pitch again. And some footballers are knobs who just because they are a footballer shouldn’t be classed as influential.
lol
You guys are also using UA-cam
It's simple. Football takes hard work and dedication. Anyone can pick up a camera and film something. Most things that go viral is stupidity.
I see nothing wrong with wanting to be a streamer or UA-camr, they make just as much as footballers do if not more than some.
Must be a younger generation thing because KSI, Thogden, and others like him are a headache. Vizeh, Nieve, and Sir Alfie Potts are absolute legends though.
You, my brother, are explaining that your children are on youtube all day. in trying to explain motivation has been kidnapped and held captive by social media is shabby mate.
They are kids, and you have the responsibility to protect them from online stuff.

You didn't have the internet/social media when you were growing up. There are new jobs now besides working in an office and cutting grass.
Social media has messed kids up bad. No under 16 should should be on social media and Darren Bent has the mental age of about 12
We are talking about Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world and used to be a football powerhouse now they let clowns show up to after party instead of the united staff and who actually cares about the club. Respect speed, and what he does but people who act foolish Infront of kids should not be allowed to access events such as this.
City fan just shut up 🤡
Did not really know much of Ishowspeed until abour a year ago and wow the guy is an absolute clown! How any follows him is beyond me
Kids are lazy. You can now earn 5m as a footballer doing less pro footballer on UA-cam. That's 100k week.
Looking up to either is weird, look up to your father
Humans have always been like this. They see whatever is popular and want to become the next big thing in it. We like taking the easy path to success and then going back to doing whatever we want. Content creation is a perfect example of that. Compared to athletes, you have to either be born with good genetics or train your whole life in order to stand out. Now, I’m not saying content creation is easy, but the odds of being a UA-camr are higher than those who choose to be athletes. All I have to do is start a UA-cam channel and upload a short or video 😅😁. However, you would be at a disadvantage if you don’t keep up with the current trends in the industry. Otherwise, the only thing stopping you is consistency in your work ethic. Lastly, times are always changing, and so are the people in them. Don’t get upset about it. Just keep doing what you love and enjoying every day!
Goldstein bang on the money for once.
If your kid looks up to speed then you have failed as a parent

I don't believe Bent here. Out of all kids in UK I would say 70% want to be footballers 10% other sports and 20 % UA-cam. I hope I'm right UA-cam ain't a job but Im to old to understand I guess
IT IS THE NEW WORLD WHERE TALENT DOESN'T MATTER
