Appreciate you checking us out! Yeah the underwater footage is pretty cool and was very informative for us, that's why we thought we should share it! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching. I think the musky thinks it can grab it anywhere on the sucker and take it to an area it wants to eat it. I think we, as anglers always think they head hunt all their meals.
Great footage, clearly your always improving your game. that nose slider awesome 👏. Question do you sit and wait for them to come to u or drag them around a area?
Thanks Phil. We are always working on getting better and learning. We don't subscribe to the cast and use a sucker as a decoy theory. We find the bait and and find the muskies and spoon feed them suckers. It's not productive if you don't know where the bait will be, but it works for us. Thanks for always tuning in!
I don't do much sucker fishing but I've always hooked one up top and one low way back I just figured that's always how it's supposed to be done. But I just haven't had much luck or fun sucker fishing so hopefully this season I'll change that
Thanks for watching Pat, sucker rigging is as much about finding the bait fish and muskies as it is in the actually technique. Most anglers hang a sucker as a decoy and continue to cast and hope that draws fish in. We find the fish and get the suckers in front of the muskies.
Thanks for watching Kit! We debated not showing that hook placement, but in the end we are here to share and help. And stay tuned some more Dadson's will be available soon!
Thanks Dean! Sucker rigging is not for everyone. If you can't find the bait and the muskies it can be a pretty tough bite. Thankfully we have a handful of spots that we can rely on for some fish. Appreciate you always watching!
Six inch suckers are not a great choice for muskies, they will literally inhale the whole thing. A single treble in the back and set as soon as you feel any pressure. Be very careful, any swallowed hooks will mean an heavily injured fish.
Well, I’ll be fishing from the bank and I can always change my rig.. I would rather lose a trophy than kill it…..Also, I was planning to use a single 5/0 circle hook to avoid injuring the things…..Know any affordable guides for Monday?
Thanks Musky Cartel! The underwater footage was so crucial to understanding that the best hookset in the world won't help if the musky bites where there are no hooks! Thanks for watching!
There is a lot of really helpful insight here! Nice work, I’m just hoping next year it will be a little easier to get my hands on some suckers down here!
@@54orbust I want to do bad, don’t threaten me with a good time! We gotta get this new little one settled when the time comes then we will figure it out!
Great vid. I'm just getting into Musky fishing but always made my own leaders for other fishing including saltwater. you talk about people using bigger suckers and have hook set problems why wouldn't you make your own leaders and add more hooks for a bigger sucker?
You are right, you can make your own, which we do and you can add a third hook. However the more hardware you add the less likely the sucker will swim naturally. Appreciate you watching!
You definitely need a rig that's big enough but the most important thing I think is when you set the hook. The fish needs to be swimming away from you not just facing away I never set the hook straight up. After many years I've never had a fish swallow a sucker so don't worry about taking extra time.
Esox, we've never had one really swallow a sucker either, and we are not afraid to take some time to get the right hook set. We prefer to be over the fish and let them tell you when they are making a move away from you, then bam! Hard, sharp hookset! Thanks for watching!
Another fantastic video!
Thanks Lawrence! Thanks for watching and thanks for sharing on social media!
First time I've seen underwater footage of sucker hooked muskie's!! Great footage and information!

very interesting to see how often they are just tasting it and not "committing" to wolfing the poor suckers

Great video Glenn. Like the lower placement ideas in the rear of the sucker. Let me know when that Dadson is available buddy!

Excellent video, and I don't even sucker fish. The underwater footage and your analysis are awesome. Good stuff to know if I ever try suckers.

I’m going to use six inch suckers here in a few days….Where should I hook the minnow?..

How do you catch the bait. Never seen a sucker
Almost all bait shops in musky areas will bring in suckers from the bait dealers.
Prices vary from $10-$20 per sucker, so it gets pricey real quick.
