I currently live and own a beachfront home in Costa Rica, with low cost of living and expenses. I had considered purchasing a residential/vacation home in Naples. After extensive research, I decided it was not fiscally feasible! Escalating home insurance rates, insurance providers canceling and leaving the State, increasing costs for goods and services, traffic congestion, weather situations, escalating property taxes, and escalating HOA dues. It would actually be cheaper to buy a liveaboard yacht, and anchor off Naples and Miami!
overpriced houses with over priced insurance with overpriced HOAs with overpriced property taxes in an area that is getting over crowded and may get hit again and again with hurricanes. yeah, nope..
Great post- so true! And lots of people who think they are better than everyone else because they golf and play pickleball and tennis! the arrogance is disgusting!

There is definitely an insurance issue, however if you have a tile roof, newer construction and don’t live in a flood zone insurance is not an issue. I live 3 miles from the beach and my homeowners insurance went down this year.
