My landlord adored my husband and myself. We mowed, landscaped, washed all the windows on a multi-family rental. Cleaned all common areas. Maintained the hall by washing steps and shampooing the landings. My dad was a professional painter and he showed me how to do it right. My landlord begged us to buy the house from him and be his landlord. The drawback? My mom lived next door! 😂😂 We moved 50 miles away after my dad died.
If husband and wife was living in the home and they were getting paid to take care of the wife's husband, between 2 adults and receiving money from the government they could not come up with $1000 a month for rent? Where was the money going every month?
Doesn’t necessarily have to be drugs. She was taking care of her father with assistance from the VA , which was probably a nominal pay every month. Problem is people don’t budget good/right. When times are tight you don’t need bills like cable/satellite tv, the most expensive shoes and clothes for kids and you, three cars and a boat, multiple pets, steak and take out every night. Not saying that the defendant had those issues as to why rent wasn’t paid, but people don’t prioritize their money well .
This reminds me of the other similar case where the landlord also had a pig tenant (the balding woman with the morbidly obese child and her husband had died), but in that case the landlord was super prepared, very similar cases. Lots of 🐖tenants out there.
Landlords loved me because I left my apartments in perfect shape…clean, undamaged, windows cleaned, oven cleaned, fridge cleaned, toilet paper in the bathrooms for the next tenant.
I, for one, would not be a landlord if my life depended on it. So many headaches. For some landlords, collecting the rent is like pulling teeth, every $%@# month. Some tenants use their income in this order. Steaks, nice car payment, cigs, hair & nails, drugs, and then if there's something left over, rent.
I see this happen time and time again. People have no respect for someone else's home. I understand you move in, you let things slide, you don't really notice how much grime can get piled up. But come on people, when you move out, do a big clean sweep! Hire a moving company to come clean for move outs, or at least take some time to pick up after yourself. If I ever get an extra home, I'm not going to bother with renting, unless I can get a huge deposit or will not allow pets of any kind. Way too much hassle.

A professional property manager rented a townhouse to a family. Sometime later the man of the family ended up in jail. He was caught trying to start a marijuana grow op. He had dug a 12 foot wide and 6 feet deep hole around the meter base. He was going to get power from the underground wires going to the townhouse for his marijuana operation. The interior was totally wrecked. The only good thing left were the kitchen cupboards. There was no carpeting and lots of damage. The property manager had to pay $15 000 to the hydro company because they needed to install new underground cables. Imagine his costs!! This story shows the risks you take when you rent to somebody.
His problem was he was not a good public speaker. What he meant was he already removed the $500 deposit from what was owed and sued for the balance. But he just kept throwing out numbers that didn’t add up without that fact accounted for. But at least he got most of it and is rid of them. And trust me, I know the death of a parent can destroy you, but someone in the family has to carry on paying bills, etc.
Talk about not having it together. Plaintiff doesn't know how long he lived in the house, what year it was rented out, how to add or subtract, how many kids he had when he lived in the house or anything else.
Poor landlord, Eric was nervous and gave the wrong $ figure. When I rented a townhouse from landlords, I treated it as my own, paid for any maintenance myself and was never late with rent for 15 yrs. I paid to replace some windows, added an arbor to the back patio and maintained all the landscaping myself. The landlords were great and they gave me a good deal on rent. Treating their property as if were my own, was the least I could do. I'll never understand the mentality of people that live like pigs. That lifestyle shows up in all aspects of their lives. Get lots of good references and do a deep background check before renting to them. Evicting a tenant can be a nightmare. And tenants wonder why the rents keep going up all over the country. I feel bad for this lady's children, with the way she lives. I see a common modality on this show...95% of people getting sued are on gov assistance of some sort... they take little to no responsibility for their own lives.
I agree I rented an expensive prop for5 years and was only late once by 2weeks .with landlord permission when my darling wife suddenly died .he gave me 3 months grace and said he respected the fact that u refused to keep him waiting’s he came to the funeral!
In my job, I have a lot of "customers" who are Section8/Subsidized housing tenants. I often have to contact landlords. I have had landlords actually start crying about damage. One day, I caught a landlord, who was in the middle of scrubbing human feces from a carpet. She started bawling. Carpets have burn marks, pet urine & feces, and even human waste. The state makes it almost impossible to evict them. One tenant didn't buy oil for the furnace, and all the pipes burst. The tenant then moved, so the state wouldn't even pay for any kind of repairs. All the hardwood floors were ruined. The covid moratorium was the worst. Most of my "customers" were not even affected, because they get SSD and SSI, which did not change. Even the unemployed people got more on unemployment ($600 more per week) than they did, while they were working. Most of them still didn't pay rent, because they didn't have to. When the moratorium was over, they moved out and never paid a penny. No wonder so many landlords are not motivated to renovate and upgrade their properties.
Wait! The defendant, her husband and her late father was all living under one roof. Yet, only she was so called “working” and her husband did crap?! Am I wrong for being surprised that JJ didn’t question about her husband income or employment status?

?? He got the rent owed but no money for damages to his property... the 500 dollar security deposit should have been his to keep too, as the filthy house could not be rented to anyone after she left.
IN MY VIEW What's with the "We left in a hurry" excuse for not cleaning the house BEFORE she left. Judges typically give you 5-10 days to move out. If you don't by then....You have 24-hour notice to vacate.
I don’t understand why people live like that? Clean your damn house! How can you live with yourself knowing you are letting your children live in home like that?
My BFF keeps asking me why don't I rent out my lake Elsinore 🏠 since I spend more time at my Irvine 🏡. These types of defendants are the reason why. Juste nasty people!
When I rent out, I do a 6 month mandatory inspection. If they fail, rent goes up and tenant pays for cleaning. It’s also written in the contract that shoes are to be removed before entering the premises. And no pets allowed.
So ~she~ says that she paid *some* of January but then balked on Feb, March & April So with 3 full months and presumably about half a month, that would make the remainder close to his value of damage… +/- $3,500 in backrent and $1,200 in damage (after he retained her security deposit) $4,700 After defendant said partial January payment and owed for the following 3 months, Judy stuck to 4 months backrent Either way, defendant is on the hook for a chunk of undisputed money
why would this woman put herself out there knowing she was going to look like a nasty fool. she should have kept this in the courts and not gone on national tv.

Math is not his thing! lol!
Also not JJ's. He could show the damages, that JJ acknowledged. 4 rents were not paid. The Damages as he claimed were 1700. On top of the 4k for rent. So why he only got 4200? He should have gotten 5700?
?? He got the rent owed but no money for damages to his property... the 500 dollar security deposit should have been his to keep too, as the filthy house could not be rented to anyone after she left.
Because his math didn't add up.
Notice the look on her face when JJ said it was disgusting? just a shrug and i dont give a dam kind of look
Judge Judy calls ‘em like she sees ‘em.
IN MY VIEW
What's with the "We left in a hurry" excuse for not cleaning the house BEFORE she left.
Judges typically give you 5-10 days to move out. If you don't by then....You have 24-hour notice to vacate.
"Currently, I had..." 😂
I don’t understand why people live like that? Clean your damn house! How can you live with yourself knowing you are letting your children live in home like that?
My BFF keeps asking me why don't I rent out my lake Elsinore 🏠 since I spend more time at my Irvine 🏡. These types of defendants are the reason why. Juste nasty people!
Daddy should’ve had life insurance
the plaintiff appears clueless as to the dollars he’s suing for in this case … he’s unsure of several specifics
Blinks in slow motion 👁️
When I rent out, I do a 6 month mandatory inspection. If they fail, rent goes up and tenant pays for cleaning. It’s also written in the contract that shoes are to be removed before entering the premises. And no pets allowed.
Can they put their shoes back on once they enter? :)
That guy has a real problem with numbers!
3 bed for 1k? My god I wish this was NY
❤❤❤❤ judge Judy the best 😅
I am a lawyer representing the Pigs Federation of America and I will be filing a case on this channel for defamation of my esteemed clients.
The man is exhausting. Be prepared!!!
In almost every episode, people are unable to keep track of dates. It's not that hard.
Dang i pay $1230 for a studio. $1000 for a 3 bedroom. I need to move to Idaho!
Definitely I wouldn't eat in her house.
She’s bringing a dish to the potluck. 😂
not having income doesn’t keep you from cleaning and picking up
Always take pictures! Am glad the plantif got his money. House was left a mess!
This lady is so ignorant. She got an excellent deal for a three bedroom. A bad tenant if I ever saw one
HAHA she lost!
Good morning 🌅🌄. Judge Judy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟✨✨✨✨✨⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
Once she saw the 💩💩, it was over!! 😮😮😮
Y’all gotta start making sure your houses are clean. It’s not that hard. Come on now!
Why didn't he get the $4700 he was asking for? She just gave him the back rent and none of the damage cost.
He kept the security deposit and then stuck his own foot in his mouth about how much the damages cost!
It doesn't matter because he can't add or subtract, probably still trying to figure out what just happened.
He's not going to see a penny
Probably.
One look at her and by her demeanor, the title is accurate
Oink oink.
*confused bulbasaur face*
Whew 🤮
The title is an insult to pigs. They are brilliant and beautiful creatures. 🐷 ❤️ 😊
The plaintiff is super cute and very nicely dressed.
The Maths ain't Mathin'!!
Already looks like one too! 😂😂😂
So ~she~ says that she paid *some* of January but then balked on Feb, March & April
So with 3 full months and presumably about half a month, that would make the remainder close to his value of damage…
+/- $3,500 in backrent and $1,200 in damage (after he retained her security deposit)
$4,700
After defendant said partial January payment and owed for the following 3 months, Judy stuck to 4 months backrent
Either way, defendant is on the hook for a chunk of undisputed money
why would this woman put herself out there knowing she was going to look like a nasty fool. she should have kept this in the courts and not gone on national tv.
Before/after pics start at 4:30. "We left in a hurry" because we don't plan well, and the place was starting to stink of dog poo and garbage.
