That handle is shaped like a well used bar of soap. Not a bad thing at all. I'm a huge fan of Civivi. Not least because their microfiber cloths are handy for my glasses 🤣
Yeah their microfiber cloths are really neat and useful. Fair price too. The fact they include a free knife with every purchase is what keeps bringing me back.
If anyone is on the fence about this knife just get one! It’s a more attractive knife in person and it’s honestly the most snappy civivi in my collection! Definitely going to be a user for me! 🤟
Thanks for the review. Pushed me over the edge. I love Ray Laconico stuff (as a new collector) and I wanted it. Just replaced my Artisan Sirius. I love it.
I like this color because it is the exact opposite of all my knives and ill be using it as camping backup knife so the material good no slip when wet especially. Good video, great info. Have a great week
The ergonomics look really good. I think I'd like that one. Gonna get one. Thanks for the review. Oh...if she does call, just tell her that you only review knives under $100, please. Thanks, brother.
Same here. I am sucker for OD green and any combination of earthy colors. MC is straight trippin'. lol My first thought wasn't "grandma's old couch." It looks more like striations in a rock, like a rare mineral or similar. This color on the Sokoke reminds me of sandstone in particular. Don't take it from me though. I am the guy whose closet is full of green, brown, tan/FDE, and camo clothing. XD
14c28N is great for budget fixed blades. I beat my Joker and it has held up very well. Batoning, jackassing and recklessly abusive. Seriously good stuff and they need to use it more than D2.
Thanks for the reassurance I needed in the order I just placed with BHQ. That and an SRM just to check out that newish budget brand. I got the linen micarta uncoated version because that burlap looked like it wouldn't age well.
Definitely agree with the type of scales on this one. Looks gross as aha. Just picked up the black g10 variant, which, imo looks way cleaner. Especially with the bead blasted blade.
Hi All, I am barely a novice, but I do have the bug. I own this knife, in the aforementioned hairy, awful burlap MC references 😂. Personally, I really, really like the feel - but I certainly don't begrudge anyone who doesn't; it's all good and we're all here because we enjoy the discussion. Apart from that, I agree with MC and others here fully that this is objectively an awesome knife. While I fully appreciate how wild this industry might appear; outside looking in (to myself included) this is truly a HUGE value proposition; comparatively. I have a medium, maybe slightly on the larger side of that; stumpy(ish) hand and it fits me great. The only thing for me that I feel could be improved might be a forward choil that I could actually apply my finger to. If anyone reading this owns the Backlash; I would contend that the two combined would be fantastic. But there is no comparison, truly, in terms of specs between the two. Not to rehash MC, but: nested liners, 14C28N, the action (and I like the burlap Micarta) are all very darn impressive for the price. Being a relative noob, I'll admit to being a bit of a Civivi fanboy - if for no other reason than seeking value. In my opinion, this knife is awesome and amongst their best value-for-money propositions. Thank you MC for awesome content, and this community - and thank you all for reading. Rock on!
I love the blade and the micarta (on mine) is smooth but the liner lock on mine doesn't engage well enough to keep it from unintentionally coming unlocked. I haven't hurt myself because of it and I still carry it but I'm more careful with it.
That liner lock is not getting up behind the tang of the blade go to Canadian cutting edge Jake has a fix for it and I believe Jared does right here that can be disassembled and fixed but careful little bit at a time you can take more off but you can't put it back on, Sanding I mean.
"Petrified grandma's couch"! LMAO! I kinda like that micarta but it should be reserved for really straightforward work knives. Imo this knife is a little more refined and EDC-ee than that. So, I get your point. Sexy knife wearing grandma's evening dress recovered from the Titanic.
Which one? Their USA site, In Q&A section, says the T001D model does not fit: "Hi friend, this clip is not compatible with Sokoke, as this knife have a countersink on the clip part with small size."
It’s hilarious that they keep sending you the ‘petrified grandmas couch’ even tho you complain about it everytime, it’s almost like they’re doing it just to troll you at this point 😂😂
Them scales are definitely fugly. The design doesn't speak to me too much, but it definitely looks like a solid user. I appreciate the 14c and dual deployments offered in studs and front-flip. That jimping looks super comfortable to front-flip with, too. Great price for what you get. Not bad 👍
I don’t like knives w 3d handles cause I wear form fitting pants. My blades need to stay hidden. This doesn’t work.. I could see this is a hunters glove box as a backup or rope-knife. Other than that though I’m sure it’s great. I’ve not had a Civivi that didn’t punch $100+ above it’s weight.
Really hope someone comes out with custom scales for this one. I like the textured feel of the burlap micarta but at the same time, it feels a bit hollow. Honestly I went with that model because I wanted the coated blade, it just looked better on the website.
I for whatever reason kind of dig that ugly look. I have a bunch of polished lightning ano Titanium knives and coated Ti. Have G10 and so on so that unique look is just different and I might have to order it. Probably wouldn't carry it much since I have the 15V Manix that has pretty much killed me carrying anything else. But never know till you buy it to see how much it gets used. Hope everyone is having a sharp no cut fingers day.
Oui loik eet. Oui loik thit knoif! It's veery noice. I'd have to grind that damn front flipper into dust on the floor tho. But that's why I've got a grinder and a mini fridge out in the garage, right!
It's a bad idea, that will f**k the knofe, as the front flipper is what hits the stop pin at the openin endpoint, at least that that's how I remember from another review
No. There's a small indention behind the part of the front flipper that's meant for contacting the stop pin. The area you use to deploy the knife is entirely separate and unaffected by the stop pin.
@@Samonitari - yeah I wouldn't grind the stop pin contact surfaces, just that big goofy flipper lever. Actually after rewatching, there's nothing to reduce without removing the stop pin contact surface. Oh well.
Watching all your video's, and being a silent viewer, I now must say that this is a really ugly Micarta nightmare. The blade looks cool. Ty for sharing what not to buy ;)
You describe the burlap horribly its soaked in a phenolic resin that keeps it all on place. As for the thumbs-up easy to manipulate you don't have to get under them just try touching the top of the stud and move it forward, it's riding on bearings. Believe your the Sam guy who cut out the ace grand access to the liner lock are you kidding me. I'll give you this you provide a good laugh on your videos
I dont care how well made Chinese knives are ,I saw hw they were when tey brke into the knife businiss.I just cant purchase a chinese nife yp use.USA,germany and Italy!

I own this knife in linen micarta and it’s beautiful. What in the world did they do to that burlap?!
I own it. It’s been spending a lot of time in my pocket. I’m a sucker for fidgety front flippers. Love 14c28n. I agree it’s fantastic.

Just got the rust micarta version.....very nice knife, gets smoother by the flip.
I put the new version Kizer raw ti clip on it...perfect!
The holes lined up . I’ve had them be slightly off and snapped one accidentally . Maybe I ll ream the hole in the clip with a bit next time 🤣
Can’t say enough how much I enjoy this knife! One of my favorites. I did go with the g10 version to avoid the grandma’s couch scales 😂
I ordered one and it's arrived tomorrow! I'm super stoked!
Thanks for the review. Pushed me over the edge. I love Ray Laconico stuff (as a new collector) and I wanted it. Just replaced my Artisan Sirius. I love it.
I love the petrified grandma's couch description.
Ohh it's basically a Civivi version of the WE Espirit. The WE Espirit is definitely a favorite of mine so I think I'll like this one for sure.
This is a very nice knife, probably one of the better Civivi designs in the last couple years since the Pintail
I love this Micarta! It wears to your hand over time.
I like this color because it is the exact opposite of all my knives and ill be using it as camping backup knife so the material good no slip when wet especially. Good video, great info. Have a great week
Just ordered one for the collection 😊
Hahaha bro you have me dying with the “petrified Grandma’s couch”. Well said. But I still love me some burlap micarta.
I have this one in the brown/red and love it. What a beautifully designed knife-budget or not!
I have the newly released Esprit with flamed titanium. Love the knife. Wish they made this in D2. Not a fan of 14C28N.
Awesome knife, it reminds me of my Benchmade mini barrage(one of my favorites). Might get this one before I send my Benchmade up for warranty repairs.
The ergonomics look really good. I think I'd like that one. Gonna get one.
Thanks for the review.
Oh...if she does call, just tell her that you only review knives under $100, please.
Thanks, brother.
I have been carrying the g10 version for a week and I wonder why I paid so much for some of my other knives.
Just bought one and can't wait for it. You gotta stop selling me on all these knives.
Love this knife and actually love the OD green burlap micarta 😂 mine is smooth though, not fuzzy like MC describes so results may very apparently. 👍

Love Ray Laconico designs, very clean utilitarian lines
This might give my green riffle a run for its money. And the riffle regularly beats out a lot of more expensive knives to put in the pocket

Love Civivi. I wish I could bring myself to enjoy front flippers. You make that flipper look so smooth. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, lol.
Do you have a suggestion for better replacement clip?

Front door mat micarta. Still a great design

"Hairy micarta". Must be from the '70s.
If youre thinkink about this knife, buy it.
the design is really neat but that burlap micarta is one of the ugliest specimen i've come across lol.
I can see you standing over a pit of lanyard holes waving a massive pocket clip and screaming out to Chinese children to get it right!
It’s pronounced “Levi-OH-sa”, not “Levio-SA”!!!
So, what would be a good after market clip for Civivis ?

Nice looking blade but good lord🤮this burlap/micarta handle materials needs to be done away with!
