Your videos are exactly what the knife community needs more of. Less chatty "im an influencer" crap. More information. Direct, to the point, and tons of knowledge thrown out fast. I love it man, keep doing what youre doing!
Excellent list...but I would have to add the Vosteed Nightshade. On WMK the thumb stud version is $69 and the thumb hole version is $72 ($65 with your coupon code). Also, the green G10 Kizer Mini Roach is on close out for $45!
@@trekfortruth2841 I know same here it’s such a great slicer and comfortable, I wonder if they discontinued the Domin with the straight edge that was another great slicer and a good price but I haven’t seen them restock it in a while
Just because a knife you probably bought isn't on the list doesn't mean he's crazy like your implying. I know some reassurance will make you feel better so go look for some validation somewhere else buddy and just appreciate the man's list 😉
Great list. I must be paying attention cause I got several of these after watching your tests. Love the penguin, pyrite, vision fg, qubit, and the serene. My next pickups are a racoon and a mayoral. Thanks for the great content, Stassa23! Oh, for those looking at the serene it is D2 steel and not the 9cr18mov of the other Sencuts on the list.
Lots of personal favorites on this list. I own all but 4 of the 20. The new Raccoon with top liner lock is the best version in my opinion of the model. It's super smooth and solid, basically a compression lock.
I recognize that the term "cheap" or inexpensive is relative, depending on one's own economic level. That said, cheap knives to me are under $30.00 or they don't fit the bill. I own a few knives in my collection with eye watering price tags, but they are never going to be camp or truck knives. For those purposes I use an OKC RAT1, and a SOG Fielder. Both are beaters, never break, easy to sharpen, and if I do bust one, no big deal. The Fielder in particular is a tough old knife, 15 years in the truck, and it has performed a lot of H/D work.Harpoon blade has been a great pry bar. The RAT lives in my camp mess bag, about 10 years or so, slices, dices, and will help get the fire going.
14C28N is an extremely tough and corrosion resistent steel. Great for outdoors and wet environments. However it is rather low on edge retention, for domestic everyday use. D2 is a cheaper all around steel, with 50% better edge retention and 50% less toughness and corrosion resistance! Great video. Thumbs up!
Great list. I own a few of these knives. One of my favorite (and vastly over looked) budget knives is the CJRB Lago ($45), which I like more than its sibling-the Pyrite alt.
Great list! What are your thoughts on Eafengrow knives? They are budget friendly and well made based on what I’ve seen and read, as well as my own personal experience with the couple knives from them that I own (one fixed blade “camp knife” and one edc folder). I’d love to hear your opinion on them if you have any experience with them!
Out of 17 folders ranging in price from very budget to just over $200 the knife I carry the most is a large Honey Badger Knife in D2 with a drop point blade. Around $60 now, though I paid less than $50. Lightweight, yet solidly built, comfortable, capable & dependable.
Just recently found your channel, and I’m digging it, thank you. Not a huge knife guy (yet) but know what I like. Just ordered some knives based on your feedback. Unfortunately I can’t use your links😠 I’m in Canada. Thanks for keeping it real.
KIZER DROP BEAR - insanely good knife, blows out of the water lots of other more expensive knives. The Vosteed Raccoon Crossbar lock is indeed one of the other top choices for sure, and the SRM 255L is another great value edc knife.
Of that bunch I got Penguin, Sachse and Qubit. Love them all, Sachse is one of my favorites and only knife I never had ANY, even slightest issues with. Perfect from the box, never even needed to lube it. Qubit is my Civivi GOAT. Had some stick but now it's tuned perfectly. Need to etch and stonewash the blade, though, I hate how Civivi's brushed satin smudges. I need to get the ArcBlast - if it mixes the Qubit's EDC versatility and perfect size and ergos with Sachse's impeccable performance, it may as well become my new fav. But these days my greatest budget knife of all time is Trivisa Hydra. I know it's not for everyone with that higo styling and enormous front flipper, but I love it. It's my best buddy from the day one and after I tuned it, it is the smoothest knife I have ever seen. Ridiculously fast and versatile, it matches any clothing style and setting, too.
Kizer Towser S is one of my favorite knives out of the my 400 plus knife collection. I also own 3 Civivi Quibit because I love it so much and also own the the brown linen Civivi Sokoke. I love the feel and look of the Sokoke knife and am disappointed more people don't have the opportunity to own this brown linen micarta knife, which I think is the the best looking micarta I've ever seen. It looks very wild west and classy to me.
Stassa23 is my jam when it comes to knives. I've been collecting for a few years now & I've never agreed with a list more than this one. So much I got the Civivi Sokoke w/damascus blade & black micarta for $50.
I think a broad drop point blade with a full flat grind is the most versatile blade shape for me. I think the Sokoke is a great #1. My other favorite budget knives not on your list are the Petrified Fish Mini Beluga, and the CJRB Mini Feldspar or Ria. I still think the highest value knife available is the Hogue Ritter RSK series. USA made and super steel for $150-180 is hard to beat.
Agreed on Sencutt quality and value, I love my glidestrike crazy smooth, and keep the Phantara in the kitchen always, watched this video and ordered the serene 😅 same day delivery 🚚 Bang!
My favorite is 11 Canary folder, only complaint would be that it has no jimping on the spine, but everything else is perfect for my preference! If you want to go really budget, Ganzo knives are awesome! I have the FH41s, it's elegant and really well made fit and finish, I was hesitant because I didn't want D2 but it's holding up pretty well and easier to sharpen than what most people say!
Stopped buying liner locks 20 years ago. Don't like metal scales because I use my knives in the winter. I'm not a fidgiter so not impressed with "flicking." BTDT, grew out of it. I buy knives to use, not fidgit with. Prefer slip joints, cross bar locks, and lock backs. My latest purchase is a Real Steel Stella Slipjoint VG10 Satin Spear Point, Blue G10 Handles. On sale right now for $50 at Knifecenter. My EDC is an Asher Spiro crossbar (thanks to your review). Haven't found anything better to replace it. Prefer knives that are not open in the back. Harder to clean but more comfortable for hard use. Before that, Benchmades of one sort or another.
I recently got a Sokoke in Green micarta and black blade. The front flipper sucks and not near as smooth as the non coated blade. It's definitely snappy.
Would somebody PLEASE HELP ME WITH A GOOD POCKET CLIP THAT I WONT LOOSE!I got into the civivi paraxis & didn’t switch to the after market clip. I like deep carry clips BUT never tried a milled Ti one.the short, wide & strong looking clip that comes stock on a benhmade bug out, looks like a great clip design on a great knife. Benchmade is more expensive,yes..BUT , I have lost $200+ worth of civivis I am curious about that kind of cross bolt (?)lock (and button locks at 2nd place of trying something different. I’m open to suggestions.liner locks have been about all ive ever had.so…?.?.)just want to get a knife that no matter if i slide down a mountain spinning in circles, it will still be in my pocket. Preferably still deep in my pocket where I put it. Unless I am missing something with the milled Ti clips that look like they ride higher up.?.?.just want 1 that isn’t going to bend or snag & be gone. Is there such a thing?Thx for any advice. These knives are all nice. & they are still making plenty of good $.some prices are nuts!
I would add the qsp parrot. Cheaper than the penguin and better cutting geometry. Option to swap out the pocket clip with a civivi deep carry pocket clip to make it a perfect sub 30 dollar knife.
Rat 1. I've beat this knife hard and it takes the beating and sharpens up easily. Tough and easy to sharpen.. I do wish they'd make it in a 154CM or 14C28N
The Vision FG certainly is an awsome knife, but I cannot go past the fact it has non recessed liners, flat scales, and this metal bar on the tang part seems uncomfortable. Recessed liners and contoured scaled is a real plus imao, that is why I choose the sokoke over the vision, even if I have not be so lucky to actually try the vision. In any case, for a few more bucks, one can have real good steel, I am thinking little knives like the Vosteed Nightshade S35VN or the Kizer Yorkie M390 both can be found around 100 and are in a whole higher league than those cheap steel knives. Out of all of them, however, I would recommend Kizer’s 154CM, but they are not cheap.
Brother I feel your pain! There's nothing you said! that I can't agree with....I wish too take this opportunity to say "Thank You" for your expertise. I rarely make a move without your input. Best wishes and Keep it sharp!

Definitely the Nightshade / mini.
Dang I didn’t even think about WMK it would have definitely been on the list thanks for sharing 🍻🍻
The only reason I didn’t put the roach is because it probably won’t be around for much longer 👍
Yeah, bummed they discontinued it. @Stassa23
@@trekfortruth2841 I know same here it’s such a great slicer and comfortable, I wonder if they discontinued the Domin with the straight edge that was another great slicer and a good price but I haven’t seen them restock it in a while
How can you not have the Civivi Mini Praxis for $28.75 on that list ???
Because I don’t like flipper only knives but if they had thumbstuds both the mini and full size would have been on my list 👍🍻🍻
@@DeerUNIT42the first two knives in this video are D2 ffs
@@DeffoZappo and they're outclassed!

Gotta agree with your opinion on the Vision FG. One of my favorites.
Awesome list brother. Have a wonderful day
Top 5 knife channels on UA-cam, easily, thanks for these great vids man. Going to get one or two from this list 😊
Yes! Columba made the list! Everyone needs one... seriously...

Amazing list. Your honorable mention is hands down my favorite
I really like the Civivi Quilt and the QSP penguin. About to order a Civivi Sokoke. Your suggestions/reviews are always good. t/y :)

I agree with the others that it’s an excellent video and an excellent list. I would include the Vosteed Corsair and Real Steel Sacra
Awesome thanks pretty much just made my Christmas list off of this video. I was surprised to see no Kershaw knives especially the iridium or leek

Are the liners super weak in the large pyrite? It seems like the steel liners would prevent the scales from flexing.
Stassa, where did you get that Moyarl with light gray scales and satin blade? I can't find that combo.

Great review
Why do you not like flipper only knives? What problems do they have?
Why wasn't the CRKT Pilar III D2 included? The reviews for that thing are practically 5/5
Some of my favorites are made by Petrified Fish...
3.5" Moyarl ❤
I wish your limit was $80, then you could have added the civivi vision fg, and the real steel pathfinder folder.

Camillus Cuda Mini. Very good knife! Not in the list. Too bad, it deserves to be known with its unique opening system.
No Lago?
Bestech Ronin looks awesome
the sencut serene is D2 steel not 9cr18MoV
Is it just me, or are the Sencut Sachse and Arcblast nearly identical?
Gotta checkout the top liner lock racoon

Definitely has 🍻
$1999 scales for the Vision seems a little crazy

Petrified fish any count? I think thats the name.
