I love how he died in the middle of the stairs, because at the beginning it said that someone who used the notebook can neither go to heaven nor hell. Great symbolism.
Great symbolism, great / emotional ending.
Woah thank you for pointing out that ❤️ this whole thing is a masterpiece
The anime said and manga, but all humans in the death note world don't go to heaven or hell. They go to "Mu", which is nothing(like not existing) its pretty dark but yeah.
Mapfal it’s pretty dark? So would you say it’s a world without light?
@Fusion Art
goddamn it
Misa did in fact killed herself at the end. They didn`t show it but the author confirmed it "She couldn`t live in a world without Light"
Sn00pyy Yes that would be dark.
Sn00pyy Yes that would be qui- fuck. Beaten to the punch.
I thought the life spans are omnipotent and could only be changed through death notes...that they didn't just resemble their natural life span, but the actual remaining time they're alive
yeah that would be Dark
Well, *lights off*
Can we stop and appreciate the incredible voice acting this dub has presented us?
Stopped. Appreciated. One of my favorite anime ever
Of all the dubs I've ever heard, this was the most well performed and most accurately translated. You still can't beat the original. For example, after L approaches Light at school and Light freaks out, "Shit! He got me!" In Japanese, you really get the feeling of, "Holy crap he's mad." Not quite the same punch in English, but they came real close. Usually a dub is down-right cringy.
Decent.
Dub is better than sub in this case.
I speak spanish as well and latin america dub is amazing, nothing can beat japanese but I think spanish (not from Spain) comes in second place. Everyone did a good job with dubs tho.
everything's the teacher's fault for putting him next to a window

well its because ryuk was bored lol
Damn this is the last time we'll hear light say "I win"

Ryuk just ended his life sooner near was the one who beat him

Your profile picture is perfect.
It was so satisfying
@@bluepika1618 L's death was satisfying too lol
Light's biggest mistake was killing that first fake L in the beginning. Had he not gotten to greedy he probably would've never been caught.
yep but then we have no story and it shows how he wasn't as smart as he thought he was ad is a great intro to L.....when his ego was challenged he got cocky and trigger happy and made mistakes pretty basic mistakes due to not wanting to lose and his hormones and just hubris and narcissism plan and simple...he had the advantage...L needed to prove the needing to see a criminals face and name first style method by said serial killer existed and that it was a person possibly in in japan with a trigger finger but he couldn't kill the real L at the same time since he didnt have his face or name
You really think L wouldn't have had a contingency for that?
L would have just tried some other tactic
Well killing fake L instantly narrowed down area of search to certain region. Also it proved that kira needs a face and name since he couldnt kill real L. Its not smth that couldnt be done later but the hunt for Kira would be completely different. Butterfly effect.
Nope. Then he would have never gotten close to L therefore not killing him.His mistakes were made in the final episodes because he was over confident. The normal light would have taken precautions if the real notebook had been switched.Like if no one dies ,Mikami will write my name. And he had another chance to win by writing everyones name in his watch paper but he screamed so loud that he drew the attention that idiot matsuda.
28:00 yes Calvin. That flashback scene genuinely hit me.
Because for the first time in his life, Light felt remorse. So remorseful, that he was running away in the opposite direction of his past self. Remorse not for the many he's murdered, but for the shame he feels of failure. Never had he felt peace. Until his final breath, he's haunted by the idea of losing to the one he felt most threatened by. Something he could've avoided, if he simply walked the opposite way.
10/10 I love Calvin's takes and observations. He's the best!
The 5 stages of failure:
1- Shock and Surprise (2:42)
2- Denial (3:08)
3- Anger and Blame (5:21)
4- Depression (9:42)
5- Acceptance (10:53)

Misa did say she can't live in a world without Light. Plus, she already cut her lifespan twice just for his sake. She wouldn't have long to live afterwards anyway.
1.People were never told that Light was Kira, they basically said that Light died in the battle with Kira, and the real Kira is dead,
2.The ending in the manga is really different, Light doesn't run off the werehouse, he stays inside begging Mikami to write their names in the notebook, but in response he asks him how is he supposed to do it, and basically stops believing in Kira as a God, (also Mikami doesn't kill himself)
Than Light starts begging Ryuk to write all their names, and Ryuk being like 'Ok, this bitch lost' wrote his name into the notebook, then after showing it to Light, Light starts to basically be a little bitch and starts to say stuff that doesn't make a lot of sense l, like begging Misa, and a lot of different people and than dies the end.
3.There was a little chapter when Matsuda discusses with someone(Idk who) that Mikami has died in prison, and saying that maybe Near wrote his name in the real notebook to win, but the other person says that it doesn't matter, as Kira was defeated
4.Yes,Misa killed herself
5.Later there was another Kira that killed elderly people to 'ease their suffering' Near (Who was announced as L) makes an announcement that he isn't gonna fight this "C-Kira" (which stands for Cheap Kira) after hearing that C-Kira writes his own name into the notebook to kill himself
6.There is actually a crazy theory that Light was turn into a shinigami, but it was said to be untrue by the creator. Beceause he said that the after life was based after his own believes, which meant that there is nothing after death. That's why Ryuk says that the user of the notebook can't go to heaven or hell, beceause in that universe they simply don't exist
Whoa, that was a long comment, but I hope that I put everything in here that we now, if I remember something I will write it in later
What's the C-Kira thing from? I don't remember it in any of the 13 volumes. I've never read Another Note but I understand it's a prequel so I wouldn't think it would be there either.
@@MrZAP17 It's a one-shot by the same author that takes place roughly three years (I think) after the events of Death Note.
But the way Ryuk told Light didn't seem like Heaven and Hell did not exist in the story's universe. He tells light he can't go to either place which implies both places existing.
huehuehueheh neither exist. All humans, regardless of if they are death note users, become nothingness after death. Ryuk outright states this to Light as he’s dying
BDD the new death note manga says it was light was Kira he’s taught in notebooks

Rest In peace L and Kira...... *the best rivels of all time* 🍰🍎
I preferred how Light died in the anime than in the manga.
In the manga, Light died after getting shot by Matsuda and he died as Kira
In the anime, he got shot and he escaped and ran and he died as Light
That's not how he died in the Manga. In the manga, Light starts begging Ryuk for help. Ryuk pretends to help, but then reveals that he wrote Light's name in the notebook. Light begs for Ryuk to reverse the process and dies begging for his life.
@Roderick wtf are you talking about? They are done with the anime you *_neanderthal_*
@Roderick This was the last episode, the fuck is your problem.
@Roderick show ended almost 2 decades
Well there's actually a reason behind both endings, the original autor who wrote the manga said that she always saw light as the villain of the story from the very beggining, he was meant to fail even before she thought how the manga would end, she even claimed to be surprised about how about 50% of the fandom actually suported light despited how twisted he was, you can see how the autor hates kira by how patetic is his death in the manga or how she depicts him as a worldwide hated terrorist in the latest one-shot (which actually makes no sense since, like in the real life, there's always going to be at least half of the population supporting his radical methods)
In the anime the director was pro-kira he couldn't change the ending because that would be going way too far, but he at least wanted to gave kira a better death
light was one of the best anime character that I have ever seen
Intelligent actually

he is my favorite. i know it’s wrong, but I like to think anyway Light became a Shinigami
same, he is the definition of a good character to me. not necessarily “good” but you know what i mean. the final episode when you see him break was done so well. this is one of those anime that i wish i could erase my memory of and watch again.

We should appreciate Gevanni's talent. He is a skilled lock picker, he copied whole notebook in one night.
Without him the case will not be solved.
Near's Wattari.
I like to think Gevanni is Wattari's nephew or something
@@scarlightemperor3410i headcanon that gevanni (and lidner because of her connection with mello) are wammy's alumini.
I love how it was Mikami who messed up. Light would never lose his god complex unless he himself was the one who made the fatal mistake. But because it was a "human" who messed up, Light would never admit to anything.
Also, the main question of the series (do criminals deserve to die?) is left unanswered. If Light was imprisoned, the story would be clearly saying "no, criminals should not be killed". But because Light is killed by the people against his killing of criminals, it's hard to see as it taking one side over another.
Well, second-degree attempted murder. Everyone on the SPK and NPA who's actually accepted the whole Light-as-Kira thing by this point is in favor of capture.
I think the story, at least in the anime, seems to have shown the winners were against execution. Light even focused on it as it being a weakness that L didn't have and near did. If near was ok with execution he would have verified the notebook and rules like how L planned to before he died. Near is much more pure than L, and Mello was much more emotional. Both of which being things that kept them from reaching his height.
If L won, light would have been executed and probably without any court ruling, and that question would have been in a grey area. L and Light we're actually pretty similar beings, just different environments.
LOL Icon
For me, my takeaway is more that while Light may have changed the world physically, he didn't necessarily change the people in it (criminal or otherwise), seeing as how the crime rate went back to the same level when he died.
Light has a sense of justice but the way he goes about it is not right. You stop criminals by helping at the base level. That is helping kids and people on the bottom with no way out. People will fear light but that is a short term solution. Inspiration will last over fear of punishment.
light was a failure lmao his method was temporary, the world can never be perfect.
I think my favorite part of ALL of this is how the end ALL started back when Light first killed for his own gain, and not out of justice. The chain of events that eventually led here can all be traced back to Raye Penber's death.
Incorrect but close, Light did that with the start of Lind L. Taylor.
yep...someone linked to a woman who was linked to L...the prequel book called the bb murder case sows L learning of shinigamis for the first time on the case with naomi who was rays fiancée...ironic isn't it?...I like how aoizawa trusts near enough to give him some info while risking his life ...shows how near is so trust worthy due to his lack of emotions getting in the way...he just sorta does his thing and gets shit done and even is worst enemy was willing to help him out for getting in his way so much as the 2nd part of death note isn't about light vs near its about near vs mello in all honesty....near wins cause he just cares about solving the case no bs...no fascination with finding a friend or losing a friend in mello or his spk members...hes just justice...he cares about bringing true justice...near got revenge for ray naomi and L...thats why you gotta love him..
thedarkfreak actually , further back. If he had never killed L taylor (fake L on TV) he probably would never have been caught anyway
how? He first killed the kidnapper on tv and then some molesters. How is that personal gain
@@adityasonparote8228 I didn't say his first kill, I said his first kill for personal gain. More specifically, I wasn't saying his first kill was for personal gain, I was qualifying the statement "first kill" to mean "the first time he killed someone NOT out of justice". And the other commenters are correct that I was mistaken: that first kill was not Raye Penber as I said, but it was Lind L. Tailor.
The kidnapper and the rapist he killed both to test the power, and out of a sense of justice. Lind L. Tailor he killed just to satisfy his own ego, and to declare that it's a crime to oppose him, even though at the time he believed Lind was a world-famous detective that has solved multiple criminal cases. That's NOT killing for justice.
The end of this video... WONDERFUL!!! ♥

Light Yagami showed that he’s just a terrified, insane, desperate killer.

insane yeah, terrified and desperate no. He had been caught so he would obviously be like that. People get terrified and desperate when they don't do their homework or when they are being fired. Just bc you have instances of being scared doesn't mean you are always like that
@@adityasonparote8228 Bruh you are missing the point 😑
I don't blame Mikami or Light for why they got caught. Mikami took out Takada under the assumption that Light couldn't move around freely. It was the safe move to make and if i were him I'd have done the same thing. Sometimes you just have to give credit where credit is due. Smart move by Mello
Yeah, Takada was the bridge between the two, so it was expected that one of them whould commit a mistake due to them not being able to comunicate with each other, kidnap her specifically was a very smart move on Mello's part.
.
My only problem is mikami has shown to also have complete faith in his God in their first conversation over the phone mikami is about to question why God is doing what he is doing then says no this God's will, and your telling me the same person is going to make mistake when his God specifically told him not to do anything light even says he said not to do anything so why would he?
@@quinzou29f95Light said “no unnecessary moves” but since mikami knew light was always being watched, as far as he was concerned it was a necessary move to go and write Takada’s name in the real notebook no matter what. Light should have actually communicated to mikami beforehand that just in case an emergency arose, light would have an ace in the hole. But he didn’t do that due to his arrogance 😬

"It's like watching a friend resist an intervention" well put Calvin, well fucking put.
Lol I loved the ending XD You guys are the best reaction channel, always doing cool things on key episodes n stuff.
If you guys want to keep explore the universe of Death Note, there is actually a lot of content concerning L and Watari and the orphanage. There's a pretty great novel called "Death Note: Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases". It's about the case solved by L and Naomi, the one mentionned in the show and after which L said that he trusted her completely. It concererns a pretty cool character called Beyond Birhday who's connected to L.
The Teapot Of Doom BB, L's doppleganger one of their foster brothers at Wammys turned rogue.
einc70 Yeah, a really cool character! I still hope that this story might be adapted someday! Manga, anime, or even drama!
Why? People should stay clear of Death Note, the author ruined it with such a forced ending like that.
they wont' adapt it because the twist only work on light novels because its only words
Silent-cer yeah, you're right it wouldn't work as well ... I think that people who know the story would still enjoy it (I would at least), but it would kind of ruin it for everyone else.
If you rewatch the last episodes you can see Mello's decision. As he was informed that Near was planning on confronting Kira face to face, he knew he had to make a bold move to force an error from Kira's part or else Near would be in risk.
I like how the series worked out. Kira vs L was the ascension to divinity, he destroyed the old world which L represented. Kira vs Melo/N was the descension from divinity, where the new opponents stripped away his "invincibility", first by attacking his sister, father, team, etc. When Light was panicking and made those ugly/derpy faces in the end, it brought him back down to mortal level, his anonymity and power stolen.
Kyle Hahn Truth. Near and Mellow treated Kira like a human with weaknesses and venerability.
Even though the anime ended a little different from the manga, I still think it's a fitting way to end such a cinematic and well directed anime.
you know who i feel sorry for the most after all this, Light's mom, think about it, she had a loving family (sure her husband was busy being the chief of police but he came home still), then this Kira stuff started, then she started seeing her husband less and less, now granted the highlight of this was Light graduating and going to collage, but she started seening him less and less as well when he got involved, then you have him and her husband lying to her about what their doing to keep the kira investigation secret, some time goes by, then suddenly her daughter gets kidnapped for ransom for unknown reasons, she gets saved but is from then on an emotionally/physically scared empty shell of a human being (with a side of PTSD) and she's now wondering what the hell these 2 are doing that some one would kidnap a family member completely unrelated to what they were doing, but you get no answers, then you get a call saying your husband got KIA'ed and now all she has is a son who is never home, and her scared for life daughter, some more time passes, then she gets the call that her son is now dead but is told its a good thing because it turns out he was Kira the whole time, so she went from loving family to now its just her and her daughter who is really just a shell
nope, thankfull for his mother she was told that Light got killed by Kira in the final conflict.
I appreciate the fact that based on what the detectives know, Matsuda may have been the one who killed kira. Like, they'd have no idea if the heart attack happened because of a death note, or shock from being shot multiple times
Here's something the Creator/Writer of Death Note said, Tsugumi Ohba, that I think is very poignant, and a very good statement on the ending in general.
“Light was a villain, but I figured there were probably people rooting for him as well. I would have been fine letting Light end miserably, but tried ’he might have died, but as he wished, became god to some people’ as a consolation for him. But truthfully, I think that as he told Ryuk, he wanted to reign as a living god. No matter how much he’s supported by worshipers, his own death was the one thing he wouldn’t have wished for. So, I suppose you could also interpret it as a dreadfully wretched irony. Well, in all honesty, I guess that I wavered this much on how to present it because I loved Light’s character so much. Though L is number one. *laughs*”
Light's death really showed what kind of a person he was as well, his narcissism, his lack of thought for anyone outside of their usefulness to him...
In the end, his veneer of superiority was stripped away, when he couldn't come to terms he lost. All that was left, bleeding, begging, and whimpering, was the person he was all along.
God I love Death Note. Light and L are fantastic characters, too bad the netflix movie did it badly :P
Something else from Ohba, about the two last Yagamis.
“There was no longer any way to write Sayu and Sachiko’s situations into the story, so I left them out of the last chapter as well. They were probably told by Aizawa or somebody that Souichirou and Light died while trying to bring down Kira. Though naturally they don’t know the truths about Light being Kira and such. And the truth about the Kira case will never be known by the world, because I doubt either the investigators or Near’s group would reveal it.”
Also he said that only Soichiro Yagami was the only good character, the only one that was justice. Whereas L was sort of evil, and Light was very evil.
That's an interesting point about hiding the Death Note among court records that nobody checks, cause Mikami was a Prosecutor lol. He probably COULD have hidden it in some old case records, and Gevani wouldn't even have found it weird for him to be going down to the records room at his workplace.
That is true. But i feel Mikami was too ocd for that. Like putting it in an old box would be to messy, it has to be some place clean like a bank. Idk.
Misa did kill herself. Just not on THAT scene. According to the authors she killed herself one year later, when she found out Light had died. Some people say that scene on the train is the one, one year later, but nobody knows.
Also the ending of the manga is different, if you're interested in it, check it out.
Death Note is a very tragic story, when you realize that a lot of innocent people died.
And when you realize that, when Ryuk goes back to the shinigami realm, other shinigamis will want to go to earth, because how fun it was for ryuk. Ryuk is the one to blame for the destruction of earth.
It's time for MY BOY MATSUDA.
Only fitting that he does the deed after everyone else. Admiring Light and his family so much, even a little bit towards Kira's results in the beginning, only in the end that matters is the betrayal by someone of "justice".
light made his mom depressed most likely commiting suicide once she finds out her son died after her husband died and her daughter is a vegetable and her son is kira...matsuda had to shoot him...he deserved it

The Death Note that Rem Gave to Misa is the one in Near's possession, and Ryuk has been attached to it since the Yotsuba amnesia ploy. This is why touching it lets Near see Ryuk.
The Death Note that Ryuk dropped for Light has been returned to Sidoh, and is no longer in the human world.
Ryuk's own notebook is of course with him; Rem's own notebook is the one carried by Aizawa.

@@esdrasfilipe431 The Holy Bible has the death penalty too.
Psalm 82:6 “I said, ‘You are “gods”;
you are all sons of the Most High.’
7 But you will die like mere mortals;
you will fall like every other ruler.”
John10 34Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are "gods"'?
We are all gods according to Jesus, but we will all die in the end. Jesus is the one that saves us in the end like in John 3:16, John 14:6, Romans 10. Light Yagami is a hero/god. Look up the stages of a hero. Light sacrificed himself to save the world in episode 1. Light did save the world with the crime rates going down. Light tried to team up with L but L refused to team up with Light on TV, L threatened Light that L was going to kill Light when L finds Light. What was Light suppossed to do? Light decided to lie to survive and save the world. Light only killed criminals and L was secretly a criminal leading the agents in a bad way where Light had to kill them in the end. Anime Theory: L's DARK SECRET! (Death Note Theory) - UA-cam. This is the proof that L is secretly a criminal. This also is how Near can also be a criminal. It is interesting how Light tried saving the world and so did Jesus but they both died because of people killing them in a way. God created us all with purpose. Light cares about human life as you can tell in episode 1, where he says, "I just killed a human life," he feels bad, knows that the person he killed is a criminal, he freaks out, knows he has to do that to save the innocent like a hero does. Light killed L because L was going to kill Light anyways. Yes Light does care about L but L is scary/villain in Light's perspective so that is why he killed L. Light does not have a brain disorder, Light was only using self care to keep his mind in a positive space to stay healthy and keep going on his mission to save the world. Light had to be his own team(alone on his mission) because no one would listen to him, unless they had the DeathNote and the same mission as him. Heros have to kill villains to save the innocent and that is what Light did to save the world. There is a quote from Megamind that relates to Light: "Everyone always wanted him to apologize for being a monster, no one ever seemed to apologize for turning him into one." Heros are monsters. Villains are monsters. Light was very cautious about the DeathNote and he knows that he can accidently kill his family which I think he explains in episode 1 or 2. Light loves his family very much as you can tell with all the episodes. The part with Light's dad dying, Light was very upset and Light actually cried. Light wanted his dad to write Mello's name in the DeathNote to help Light on his mission, at the same time his dad had shinigami eyes and played with the DeathNote so Light's dad might go to hell, suffer with shinigami eyes, being in pure pain at death(DeathNotes fault). That is why Light questions his dad, "With your last bit of strength do you wanna die in pain?" If Light's dad wrote Mello's name down Light's dad would of not died in pain and possibly joined the shinigami realm. Light called his dad an idiot because Light did not want his dad to die and wanted to be with his dad longer(Light was not able to see his dad a lot because of his dads job and Light loves his family very much, like his dad as well). Light knows his dad is going through pain from the DeathNote. At the last episode Light called his dad a fool because his dad fought for justice, just like Light did and Light also feels like a fool because he(Light) fought for justice as well. Light chose to not say anything at that part after because he does not want to waste his breath, no one will listen to him, understand him and choose sides with him. Light was very cautious, not trusting Ryuk and Misa for a long time. Episode 15 there was a building imagination where Light falls off of it meaning suicide thoughts because of Misa being caught as second Kira and Light cares about her very much obviously due to his suicide sad thoughts. Light used self care to keep going on his mission to save the world and Light does not have any brain disorder. God created us all with purpose and it was not by mistake. Light dreamed big after he finished high school, he made the better world with the crime rates and the wars going down. Light wanted a peaceful world where there was no fear and he wanted teamwork. Light smiles throughout the episodes because he survives and is able to save the world. Light laughs because he is scared and laughs at how stupid people are trying to kill him for no reason by not seeing his perspective while not taking the time to understand him. Light wanted an apology with all the threats and beatings that happened. This is why Light is the true hero.
“This world is rotten, and those who are making it rot deserve to die. Someone has to do it, so why not me?” - Light Yagami
“I am justice!” - Light Yagami and L Lawliet
“If Kira gets caught, he is evil. If Kira rules the world, he is justice.” - Light Yagami
“Hear this: I'm not only Kira, but I'm also God of the new world!” - Light Yagami
“Having finally made his dream reality, he was overwhelmed both by the magnitude of his achievement and by the joy and happiness that it brought him.” - Light Yagami
Light won.
Another sign that L is a villain: “There are many types of monsters that scare me: Monsters who cause trouble without showing themselves, monsters who abduct children, monsters who devour dreams, monsters who suck blood... and then, monsters who tell nothing but lies. Lying monsters are a real nuisance: They are much more cunning than others. They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart; they eat even though they've never experienced hunger; they study even though they have no interest in academics; they seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them... because in truth, I am that monster.”
― L Lawliet
I do like L too. It is sad, L and Light never teamed up. Light did try to team up but it just did not work because L refused. In real life the agents, councilors, police, everyone would try to understand the suspect as best as possible and not kill the suspect like that. In this anime the agents did not make peace with Light and instead decided to kill Light without taking the time to understand Light or even compromise with Light. I am team Light!
Light Yagami=Toothless the Nightfury
Light and Toothless are both heros that the world did not deserve yet and they both tried to create the new world. Genius are always called the insane ones while they did make the world a better place.
same
There were so many opportunities for light to change
The whole series is very bittersweet
2:58 For the record, Near is Nate River - like naturally flowing river proving that he is L's successor, the creators of the manga confirmed it.
In the extra portion of the Death Note manga, Ryuk actually did have his fill of the human world. And he just chills out in the Shinigami world.
I cried the first time I saw this, it made me thankful for all of the loved ones I have around me. Light pushed everyone away, which left him scared, alone and isolated. He looked back and saw himself as a normal but ambitious kid with dreams, a family, and friends. To me that would be my ultimate fear in life, to end up with nobody left 😞
Back when L originally described Light as someone who is "childish and hates to lose," it really fit Light's character perfectly. The thing that I love about Light's character that I've realized after watching this show so many times what his actual motivations are. And it's so much simpler than we are made to believe.
Basically, Light's motivation is simply denial. He grew up being the best and never learned to deal with what it was like to not be the best. So he couldn't stand the thought of losing or being wrong. He held this way of thinking so strongly that when confronted with the reality that he actually murdered people when he first used the Death Note, he immediately came to the conclusion that he was doing the right thing simply because he couldn't be wrong. Or, rather, couldn't ever admit to being wrong.
And since he convinced himself that he was right to pass judgment on criminals, he logically couldn't just up and stop doing it. Because if he stopped, it would be as if he was admitting that he was wrong for using the Death Note in the first place. So, therefore, since it wasn't wrong, he had to keep doing it.
The whole "god of the new world" was all just Light trying to convince himself that he was right. It was denial the entire time.
And what's interesting is that Light doesn't just do this once. He does it multiple times throughout the story. He overreacted and killed Lind L. Taylor, so therefore he made room in his moral code to "punish those who stand in my way." This opened up the door for Light to allow himself to eliminate Ray and the rest of the FBI agents. Killing Naomi (Ray's wife) force him to rationalize killing not just law enforcement, but literally anyone who he deemed to be a threat. And the cycle just repeats until he's basically got no moral code left. And you can even see how tattered his moral code became when he lost his memories of the book and how drastically different of a person he was.
It's such a well written character.
I don't think it was just Mikami messing-up but also what Mello did as Near said. Which makes that scene where Near's female operative letting Takada go with Mello mean so much more since Mello knew then that he was going to die in the end.
If we actually look at this thoroughly, Ryuk is the real villain. His mere boredom made him throw a notebook into the human world unnecessarily and all that caused a death of a lot of humans including light. Light could've been leading a normal life after his extraordinarily studious college life and would've eventually become a police like his Father. But, Ryuk's boredom caused chaos. Not to mention, Ryuk never thought about it. He didn't empathize Light as he wrote lights name in his death note. Hell of an anime. Nonetheless. Ryuk's still my favourite. 🍎
No, Ryuk is a fake villain. Looking at him, you would think he’s evil by his appearance and well…because he’s literally a God of Death. But he is far from been a villain. Light was bored too but he could have decided to not use the notebook, but he didn’t cuz he was already corrupted inside…the notebook was just a little push. So yeah, Light is the real villain.
@@isavargas1 light is evil as fuck
@@isavargas1 While I agree that Light the villain in this story, I don't agree about simply deciding not to use the notebook. I've never seen or heard of a person with so little curiosity that they wouldn't at least verify its authenticity. I'm sure some people like that exist, but that type of person isn't someone who would ever watch Death Note in the first place of their own volition.
@@isavargas1 If light didn't do anything, there wouldn't be this plot , it's also true that ryuk created the death notebook, it's his fault
If only light didn’t get a selfish shinigami.
Fkn Rick killed them all. XD
rick? who is that
The *savage* who is writing names in the death note at the end of the video
Portgas D Ace Riuk
*Ryuk...or is it a 'r/whoooooshh' for me?
Rick?
I found it fitting that matsuda was the innocent one of the group and still had doubts about catching kita and he was the one to shoot him
I always think that behind all the direction of the story and that stuff, L and Light were like, you know, "friends" and seeing Light in those stairs with the ghost of L watching him is really sad. Adding the fact of when Light was running and saw himself, like, man, Light was a brilliant student, he could've been anything else if it wasn't for the notebook.
I'm surprised no one has pointed this out yet, but did anyone notice how Light said "Matsuda, you idiot!" when he got shot.
For those that don't have context, "Matsuda, you idiot" has always been a comedic-centered line the Task Force used to poke fun at Matsuda, who's mainly been a comic relief character. I jus love the fact that it's MATSUDA of ALL people to shoot Light, and for Light to respond with the words people use to poke fun at Matsuda, but this time it's completly genuine, just really gets me.
Never underestimate the funny guy is what I'm saying.
You guys need to watch Death Parade. Light actually makes a cameo there in hell.
Lmao
Yes.
Nathan 15 hahahaha yesss
Nathan 15
Don't force them to watch a terrible anime just for a 2 sec good cameo.
ᔕoтonaмι ᔕoυтa The concept of death parade is unique, *but* every episode feels the same. Same thing happens in every episode and that's quite boring tbh
The only main difference in this and the anime was the light cried out to ryuk to kill them all and ryuk said nah i told you im not picking a side im just here to kill my boredom.
Only Blind Wave is so cool as to treat their fans with that outro! What absolute
champs you guys are :)) love you all!
I loved this anime. Such an incredible anime for how old it is.
Everytime I watch this series start to finish, I'm always the most depressed about Misa. Yes, she was annoying and ditsy, but you couldn't help but care about her. I;d like to think that she lived on, but I highly doubt it.
(le sigh)...and now I'm sad.
Same...
L guessing about the deathnote's condition based on assumptions based on earlier assumptions based on even earlier assumptions with no proof whatsoever and then getting it right every single time, sure I can accept that; another shinigami who was not mentioned or brought up earlier, suddenly introduced in the last quarter just to remove the extra notebook from the plot, sure I can accept that too; Light being arrogant enough to wager his entire plan on another person with his only notebook with no back up plan / escape / counter, I can accept that as well;
But Geovani replicating a notebook with perfect details, perfect hand writing, perfect indents, perfect material, perfect texture, perfect wear and tear to the microscopic level in ONE NIGHT???!!!! That is stretching the suspension of disbelief way too thin to be believable...
Deus Ex Machina working for the antagonist of the story.
Well how convincing would that copy even need to be?
To begin with, Mikami had done him a favor and *already* made a perfect copy of the Notebook, which Geovani had periodically checked on and photographed. I don't think he needed to do much more than adding 1 or 2 new pages of what he already had that night.
THANK YOUUUU
i'm with you in everything you said. except that i really can see Light boasting about how he won seconds before because of how arrogant he was. Because how he thought of himself as a God (more every time) so he couldn't commit mistakes, and because we have heard him thinking something like "i wanna laugh because of how genious i am and how stupid they are right now but i gotta keep a straight face". Also! he said to Naomi Misora "because i am Kira" before being completely sure he had won. I mean there was no reason to say it at all. He just did it cause he was an arrogant and enjoyed seeing people lose against him. He got it right that time, but it could have ended up wrong, just like how happened here..
Jesse Holt He had pictures, remember? If he made the front and the back the same, then he could have scanned the text with some 3d printing, and popped them onto the book. Plus, while Near bragged that Giovanni copied the whole thing, it's far more likely that he did just enough to deceive Mikami. Maybe he knew which parts of the Death Note Mikami checked, and focused on them more.
What about killing jealous just to bring in an extra notebook for Misa I mean how about two shinigami who are literally of different species fall in love with her plot convenience
Light died in the middle of the stairs to shows
He never went to heaven nor hell he was stuck in between 😌
i still hope he somehow ended up in hell
cartier 😭😂 I kinda liked light lmao
He was such an interesting character with such academical skills it amazes me how he would just think on his feet
@@SewaSwra yes, he was an interesting character, but he was also a total dick, to me he deserved to rot in hell or in jail, but yea, he was a good character
There was an epilogue chapter in the manga. From what I can remember they don't give out Light's name, and instead say he got killed in the line of duty in order to spare the family. They also said that crime ended up going back to how it was before Kira came around. And there were still alot of Kira worshipers.
I started watching this anime after you guys dropped your first reaction to it. After that, I was completely hooked. I binged the entire series in 4 days. You guys got me into watching my first anime (but I haven’t seen any others since then), so thank you, Blind Wave
I'm curious. Have you watched other animes in this one year that's passed?
hahahah holy shit that ending xD
Kudos on the ending to the video! Nice acting and cinematography. You totally nailed the dramatic atmosphere and grandiose gesturing. ;-)
One of the best shows of all time.
This was epic.. i was starting watching death note with you guys 4-5 months ago before my parrot died :( and now its over. i will miss this show. Thank you ( we would love naruto reaction..)
Alin Mihai : Soket hell yeah Naruto 😍
Hahaha-no
raicristian alasio yes
Alin Mihai : Soket
I wish naruto had a reanimation like full metal alchemist brotherhood. With better pacing and better animation. No filler and no slow pacing to fill a whole episode. Then naruto would have been much better.
Alex Xavier Naruto has a pretty good pacing in my opinion. I agree that it's not the best show out there but definitely is one of my favorites
The end.....
but the moment has been prepared for.
Its weird because it made me so sad for light. I didnt feel alot of sadness or remorse for Walter White when he died, but I wander why I did for Light. When he broke it broke me.
LMFAO that ending to the video xD
R.I.P. Light
Mikami stabbed himself not because he wants to create a diversion but because realized that the one he thought as a god was just a mere human.
This was my favorite video that you guys have ever done, and that's saying something. Great analysis, great reactions, and the perfect way to wrap it all up. Bravo, gents. What a great ride.
TLDR; for "Death Note"
"Measure of a man is what he does with power"
Fun fact, in the first compilation film, a new Shinigami is introduced, wearing a red tie as a bandana. He seeks out Ryuk to hear his story of the human world, but leaves before Ryuk can finish his story. The popular, but unconfirmed theory, is that the unnamed Shinigami is actually a reincarnated Light, which partly makes sense because he could enter neither heaven nor hell due to his use of the Death Note, but the sheer amount of people he killed using the Death Note practically made him a human Shinigami.
Damn it rick!😂😂😂
Jessica Cortez lol and i enjoy your channel^·^
Damn it Morty
Loved this reaction series. Looking forward to Code Geass ;)
Yeah, it won. They're reacting to L's funeral first though.
Tbc Alex man i wish they react to code geass...i've began to watch it and those first few episodes were so fucking intense..i can't wait to complete the series and see their reaction...but the ending got spoiled for me though😔
Yeah.
Sai Kaushal Yeah dub is pretty good
Sai Kaushal Code Geass has some good English VAs. Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo, second MMPR Black Ranger) is Lelouch, and Yuri Lowenthal (Sasuke Uchiha) is Suzaku. I watched the dub first so I’m a little biased, but it’s my favorite anime and the dub is pretty decent.
The ending was glorious 👏
Shane's acting tho 👌
“Don’t think that any human who’s used the Death Note can go to Heaven or Hell. You’ll find out about that after you die.”
“Can’t go to Heaven or Hell... I know it already, Ryuk.”
“Mm? What?”
“It just means there is no Heaven or Hell, right?”
“...You really are an amazing guy. I thought all humans completely believed in Heaven and Hell. That’s right. As you say. There is no Heaven or Hell. No matter what they do in life, those who die will go to the same place. All humans are equal in death.”
The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
The human who uses this note can neither go to Heaven nor Hell.
All humans will, without exception, eventually die.
After they die, the place they go is MU. (Nothingness)
Once dead, they can never come back to life.
J Crowe that seems kinda vague don’t you think, it is conformed that the supernatural exist in that universe and possibly other realms other than the shinigami’s may exist. Also shouldn’t the individuals return to were they came from after they die, consciousness can not come from none consciousness, for nothing can’t become something, and something cannot turn into nothing, therefore the concept of nothingness doesn’t exist to begin with.
Hiccup Parker there is a rule they didn’t include in their reaction that says that All humans die eventually. When they die the place they go to is MU(nothingness).
Jollyfella don’t the shinigami not know there own origins or why they exist? They live on a higher plane from us, however that doesn’t necessarily mean that they know everything about existence. They themselves are afraid to die due to the fact they may know what already happens to them after they die.
The creators of the story have stated that they put both the rules in that you cannot go to heaven or hell and that all humans go to nothingness, for interpretation so both may be true and no true at the same time, it’s a paradox. They have also said that one of the rules can’t be correct without the other being false, that’s way they say there are no rules against making false rules within both the manga and the anime.
Hiccup Parker you are right. They don’t know. The only thing they do know about their own existence is that their life is tied to notebooks by extending their life in killing, or with certainty ending their life by saving a human life.
They didn’t make the notebooks themselves and Ryuk said that no shingami knows why they exist. The ”big guy” the father/king of the shinigami I believe it is who creates the notebooks. He made rules that prohibits shinigami from saying certain things.
Ryuk told Light that he shouldn’t assume that a human can go to neither heaven or hell. Which is the divine prank. The only rule told about humans existence, which is never revealed to humans is that when they die, the go to nothingness. Ryuk hinted that Light would found out what would happen to him when he died. Which means that shinigami is told this rule at least. They don’t know for sure, but whoever passes out power to end human life with magic is the one who passed on this rule. We don’t know. But the big guy at least told the shinigami that humans go to nothingness when they die.
Jollyfella that’s false that the king knows what happens to both humans and shinigami death, he said that all who used a Death can’t enter an afterlife if one should exist, as for the rule that all humans go to nothingness that rule is only to tells humans that it is unclear of what happens to them after they die, not that they cease to exist. The old man is simply the eldest and most knowledgeable Shinigami who simply try’s to keep his kind alive as long as possible, that is he’s over all purpose.
there was an AMAZING fan ending someone made in manga form. after dying light goes to the shinigami realm, but not as a shinigami, it's a punishment. he suffers every death he caused one after the other, and once it's finished he would be erased. even suffering heart attack after heart attack he still had drive to try and turn the situation around. was PERFECT for the character. satisfying af.
tho it was also a fan ending based on him winning this encounter. he actually fully "fixed" the world, and died in the white house. so likely he has millions of deaths to go through by then.
It was a pleasure rewatching this marvelous series with you guys. Your reaction were always on point.
I was not expecting the las minute of this video hahaha OMG it was perfect
Shane was the only one that looked concerned when his friends were DYING!
Really, with an ending like that, this has to be your best reaction series!
Yep, and that was Death Note. Too bad you cut the Swimming Lessons with Light Yagami segment, but that's the way it is.
What swimming lesson?
16:15 The majority of the people who have watched this series agree with you man. For alot of people the show just kind of fell apart without L.
but l is lame..near is different...hes a unique specimen not seen in much media..hes way more emotionless and logical yet still kinda cares and isn't willing to do the evil things in fear of his own life like mello or L...he even says later he only does what he does cause its his job and it interest shim..he doesn't have a sense of justice either...he won cause he won...that's it...its a blank canvas..which is why hes white which in asai is a pure color and means enlightenment ..hes kinds reached the top..sure hes harder to relate to but hes a manipulator of people..he even got light to bite...thinking hes inferior...getting his rival to help him...its a plan he made the moment mello left...
@@razkable ive never seen so much bs spewed in my entire life. Go ahead and like Near idc but youre delusional if you think he is in any way better than L.
It didn’t fall apart because L was gone. It fell apart because the writing just went to crap as they rushed through everything from episodes 26-37.
One thing I surprisingly never hear anyone talk about is that Near and Mello are like the two different sides of L's personality separated into two characters.
Near is the cold, logical, and apathetic side of him, while Mello is the emotional, impulsive, determined side of him that is willing to take drastic measures to reach his goal. Maybe Near is the childish part of his personality, while Mello is the one that hates to lose. And since Mello likes sweets, (chocolate), and Near likes playing with toys, together they might represent the part of him that likes playing with his food. Maybe if Near and Mello worked together, they would be equal to L. So maybe L didn't really die, just the extreme versions of the split sides of him appeared, instead. and it could be that Mello got killed, because it's the Mello side of L that ended up causing his death.
It was actually revealed that Misa committed suicide on February 14th. It seems a world without Light was truly dark for her.
If Light had kept Rem around, he could've just told her to write their names as a last resort and she would have done it.
I feel like this is one of the most satisfying ends to a show.
The manga was darker
Light fucked up by getting caught up in his ego. Having followers makes you feel powerful, and he loved that power. So he was more than happy to have someone like Mikami. His love for himself and his God complex was his mistake.
In the end though he didn't make any mistakes himself. Mikami was the one who made the fatal decision to kill Takada.
You guys are to easy on Misa Misa... SHE STILL IS A MURDER! I know she is funny and fun but in the end she needed to face justice... and she was so blindly loyal to a monster that there really wasn't any other end for her
A murder?
Ok, she still a murder, but is really sad that she committed suicide at the very ending
Light got what he wanted, in the manga, in a bonus chapter, after crime came back and ramped up much more then in lights time, he is worshipped and prayed for too come back.
He became a god.
I always knew Light was going to die, but actually having it happen made me sadder than I thought
A few others have mentioned the manga ending with the female Kira worshipper who strongly resembles Misa. The reason that this character could very well be Misa and that this scene actually is taking place a hundred years or more in the future is that Misa had two shinigami die for her, transferring their lifespans to her. Since the lifespans of the shinigami are never divulged, these two could've given Misa hundreds of years of life... Or maybe only a few years, totally up to the individual on how they want to interpret it. I believe it was her and she created the religion of Kira and has been leading them for centuries
Can you guys watch L's Monster speech in Death Note Relight 2? I love that scene.
The end of this video is a gem 😂
doesn't this setup for a second season because ryuk in the beginning said that you become a shinigami once you die so what if he comes back to the human world as a shinigami for a second season ???
Why my eyes filled with tears again, when yesterday I just finished watching this for the second time
