Fun fact, when Chopin wrote this prelude he also wrote on his journal: "Here i am... Arms crossed, trusting my piano all my anguish and despair and almost supplicating to heaven to vanquish all mankind"
@@samuelguzmann i read it on a book called "Chopin", by Mazzuoli, an academical essay, but he quoted it from a book called "Chopin vu par ses élèves", by Eigeldinger, where you can find a lot of this biographical anecdotes if interested!

Chopin's final Prelude is a thrilling display of virtuosity, with trills, scales and octaves suspended above the stormy sea of notes played by the left hand. The music seems to evoke a hero's journey into battle, even as the hero knows they will not survive. Although there are moments of glory, the three chilling notes at the end seem to clarify with certainty that hero has met a tragic fate.
Thank you seemusic for playing the song I requested I'm very proud!! You recorded one of the best peices in history imo. Tomorrow I am doing my first piano recital and I'm very nervous about that. Do you have any tips for me?

That chromatic scale in thirds kicks my butt every single time. Great performance. It takes a massive amount of practice to learn this piece - just wanted to acknowledge your work ethic and drive on top of your obvious talent.
@@japonoyunyapmcskojima8290 true! I got the thirds down but when i started practicing the left hand the polyrhythms are quite crazy... It definitely needs a lot of work and slow practice.

I believe he wrote this around the time that the part of poland in which his family lived had been taken over by the russians. He was waiting to know what had happened to his family and had composed the E minor prelude and C minor etude at the same time.
i see similarities between this and op 10 no 9 with far reaches in the left hand being possible using a note in between as sort of a pivot. However this one looks so much harder.
I believe this prelude has hardest difficulty rating according to henle if im not wrong and i believe its way harder than people usually act like it is even tho i didnt play any of the other hard preludes i failed in this prelude a lot and have less difficulties playing some of the harder etudes like op 10 no 1... so i lack info to judge correctly but im pretty sure lot of people underestimate it too

The descending thirds part looks killer. Correct me if I’m wrong, it looked like thirds to me
Yes, it is thirds!
I just saw you posted a short starting right there at the thirds. Love the “zoomed out” view of the short video , makes that run look even more sick!
I think polyrhythm is the hardest challenge here.
