Evillene deserves her own origin story. How did she become evil?, how did she build her empire?, did she ever love anyone?, why did the Wizard want her killed. If the wicked witch from The Wizard of Oz (which is pro-dominantly white) gets to have her story told, why can’t Evillene?
In the books there were four wicked witches. Glinda and the Good Witch of the North dethroned the wicked witches of the North (Mombi) and South. There was a part in the first book where the Wicked Witch of the West used the Flying Monkeys to banish the wizard from the west to the Emerald City after his balloon landed in her territory. So, when he ordered Dorothy to kill her he either did it as a form of revenge or he feared her too and knew everyone else in Oz feared her too and knew it wouldn’t be done.
FIRST GOT ME A LION is one of my favorite parts with the scarecrow and the tinmen is really the best act ever it starts with the lion what the witch is going to do and then the tinmen scarecrow. I enjoyed it very much
They could’ve done more with the melting. Having her backup and out of frame with a lot of fog is pretty high school theatre. I would know because that’s exactly what my high school did when we did the Wizard of Oz
They said her character was dumb in the 1978 version, having taken over a factory that had existing pipes and irrigation. This one's even dumber. Not only has she taken oversight of a factory with plumage, she actively has people mopping the floor. Seriously, that's even worse, as it brings more water near her when sanitation should be the least of her concerns. And she taunted and threatened a girl's life with a knife with the bucket right there withing reach and laughed evilly, distracting her. The old one wasn't this stupid. She didn't install the sprinklers, but this version of her allows plumbers to maintain the water mains rather than shut them off.
Basically all the Wicked Witches were pretty dumb leaving water around for Dorothy to dump on them. The closest "smart" version was the one in the anime who made Dorothy go to a far spot to get water, cover the jars that had water in them, and cook with blood, but when she melted when a large jar was near her and Dorothy pushed it on her. ua-cam.com/video/beTLS6t4L1Q/v-deo.html
Like Mary,..But Evil Lean is a "phat" Witch and without that looses a lot of the fun character qualities of previous film version and broadway show. Lizzo would be a Cool Choice for New film version ❤
I like that Mary J. Blige is doing her own spin on Eviliene instead of just imitating Margaret Hamilton and other The Wiz Evilienes. 🙂

They could’ve did more like instead of her backing up they could’ve had a lift installed to have her go under the stage to make it more realistic
