    I love long videos. I don't use tik tok because I don't like it. I love a good chatty plant chore video so that I have someone to do my chores with.
    I also love informational videos. I use UA-cam to learn as well.
    Either way I'm just glad you are still here!

    i love your long videos, make that money honey we're here for it. and i think your support of that company that helps disadvantaged people is so touching, and i love how honest and real and relatable your content is. short form content is sucking us in and rotting our heads haha i think live chores would be great!! but also i have a job with a shit schedule so id probably miss the live lol anyway thanks for all of the uploads ive been a bit unwell and it has been lovely for my lazy bones

    WOW!! Three uploads! Love it! I’ve been binge watching some of your past videos while I did plant chores and cleaned up. ☺️ I honestly prefer the longer videos. I just binge watched a bunch of your videos while I did plant chores. Doesn’t matter if I already watched them. 😂 I am not happy with my current plant collection in the sense of grow ups. I need to work on that. I also need to get things organized, cleaning, plant and house stuff. I actually love my collection, just need more time in the day. My daughter should be home so time after Christmas so I really need to get things completed. On the topic of mealies, I am convinced that if you speak of them they appear…the appearance out of thin air. 😡

I finally gave up on my dischidia ovata watermelon starter plant since it just sat there doing nothing....goodbye, I won't miss you! My multiflora is not impressing me either but I continue to wait. I really like the long videos, though I don't always get the watch a whole video in one sitting. I have to break it up as time permits. As far as my own plant chores, I do have a few things that need done and one big project that I'm planning, but everything but watering is pretty much on hold till at least after Christmas. I am really far behind in getting ready for Christmas, so -- to prevent me from completely losing my sh*t -- the plant stuff has to take a backseat. Once things have settled down, my big project is to get a handle on my (badly) neglected orchids. You and Dave (Sober Plant Guy) have inspired me. I'm going to repot all of them and get them cleaned up and straightened out. TBH, I'm half-expecting them to die from the shock of actually getting decent care, but we shall see. At least I'd be able to say that I tried. BTW, I almost always do exactly what you were doing at the end . . . I make just slightly less potting mix than what I need and then try to convince myself that I can get away without making more. haha.

    Really appreciating these frequent uploads during these literally dark days 😊
    Good to hear that you passed the test! Thanks for the update
    Not yet happy with where I am at with my plants. The plants are doing well, some Hoyas are blooming or about to (and Hoya Rintzii Borneo is finally growing again!) but I want about 1/4 less of them, it is hard to choose though.. It shall happen next year somehow.
    Chorewise I have about 8 to repot, of which 4-5 can be done straight away (for the others I need either supplies=large pots or a leaf is still growing/hardening off). So all good
    I don’t like “soil” in tree fern, it ruins the properties
    And I done like pon in a mix either for some reason
    Im no longer interested in most of the slightly more expensive Hoyas either…
    This is also after selling some plants (as I am trying to downsize). Oftentimes I get for quite a big plant only what I paid for my one node cutting and it feels meh. The downsizing already feels meh… so that makes it double meh
    That process led me to lower the price I am willing to pay for a cutting when I do want something new (which is rare these days).
    (Also since I limit the amount of plants that I can keep, I also feel like I already have “enough” variegated and silver Hoyas already, which covers most of the more expensive “new” ones)
    “Not to much specific information except not to eat this, which I will try not to” 🤣 (you had me there 🤣🤣🤣)
    Thanks for the heads up about the buffered cocohusk… I found buffered cocosoil before but not yet husk so definitely going to try them when I run out of my current batch
    (And then he proceeds to smell and almost eat the moss 🤣)
    Episcia Pink Dreams has the pink flowers 🩷
    Would love to grow that one someday!
    My pink Episcia has red flowers, the contrast is also nice though
    Hoping it was something other than the moss
    Rootmealies not allowed!
    My problem with (plant)UA-cam… is that anyone can post anything basically…
    But people who watch the videos usually watch for (plant)information..
    So if someone who does not really know how to grow a plant starts sharing their “knowledge” it will misinform the people who watch it and that annoys me to no end
    Especially since many of the people watching will refer to many UA-camrs as “experts”. (Which of course they can be, but that shows in their growing results)…
    I mean…. The “taco test” is still being posted, so is “treat your Hoya like a succulent” 😖
    What I am trying to say is… I get your annoyance 😅
    Live stream plant chores would be fun, when they give you better internet

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  2 дні тому +2

      I came to a very similar conclusion - I have some boxes with plants that I have been moving around daily, and to be frank, I’d love them gone (plants included). Now, maybe not ALL of the plants from those boxes, but there are some in the tents that I could see getting rid off…. So yes for this goal!
      I am so glad to hear I am not the only weird one about potting mix combinations :D And omg, there was moss on my nose too!

I know Pink Dream has pink flowers, that is why I wanted that one :D I can’t even imagine how good they will look! :D
      Yeah, this is the issue with advice in general - people who don’t have much experience feel so comfortable giving advice on something, which is so odd to me. If you’d ask me anything on growing cacti, I’d tell you you are at the wrong address :D I wish more people did the same. There is no shame in not knowing everything :)

    • @Wubblyt
      @Wubblyt День тому

      @ Anything you don’t love…. If you can rehome it (or get rid of it in any way), it will give so much relief!
      I notice that “we” (= people who love plants) often really see our plants as “collections”, but maintaining those “collections” takes so much time/energy (work). Maybe “we” should have more “curated collections” so that they bring more happiness feel less like a chore. Thats what I am working on currently, but it is so hard 🤣
      (Though I love to see plantchore vids 😅)
      Your humbleness is commendable. You are very experienced though, so you know what things you can give advice on 😊
      Generally, if people manage to keep plants alive or manage to grow a leaf or two they usually think they know how to look after a genus, I don’t blame them for that, they just like houseplants….
      The problem is how their “knowledge” is percieved… or if they tell it as facts 😅
      I like learning about other peoples experiences, there is a lot to learn from it… but really… look at the plants, they tell what actually works or not (and I wish people who are new to plants would know that, to look at the plants)
      And yes…. People who give advice about things they don’t know much (or anything at all) about…. is very annoying…..

    I love your long plant chores videos. But I found your channel by your one-Hoya-a-video videos, because I searched for the latin name of the hoya. So if there will be more of them, I will not complain! I also love that you are making chapters in the videos, especially in the long ones

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  2 дні тому

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  2 дні тому

      Coco fiber, as in coco peat? I use Plagron, that is also buffered (but not dehydrated). Ecuagenera also has NZ moss (Besgrow) but it does cost a bit more than the OrchiMoss :D I find them very similar in quality though.

    • @IntoTheForest-ytm
      @IntoTheForest-ytm День тому

      @BasiePlants After some googling I'd say it's the same as coco coir. Much fluffier than the peat, but not as chunky as the sybotanicas coco husk. So. Many not as revolutionary as I thought 😐.

    I really enjoy your video, so friendly, refreshing, simple, honest 💛 I love long video I start and I work in the same time, or do thing in the same time, a bit like a podcast. If this give you more money too, yeah very cool thing! I work a lot to finish the year 3 videos a week from you is the perfect timing! Take care of you 💛
    Question, you prefer pumice or perlite, I have the impression pumice in my mix not made a fun texture of soil, maybe it’s me too 😆
    The other day, I saw a video from a plant influencer, it was my first video (and my last)! He said so much bullshit that it gave me hives 😅

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  2 дні тому +1

      So, I use pumice with bark and moss and coco husk. I dont' use it with any type of "normal" mix with coir or peat or anything similar in texture, because yes, I find it weird too. Almost as if it makes is more wet? I am not sure. However, I have a friend who does mix pumice with regular potting mix and she is very happy with the results! hahahaha I am sorry about the hives! :D We are spicy today! :D

    I would say that I'm pretty good now with plant's chores but sooooo overwhelmed. I love them but with sickness, moving my husband's father house, winter difficulties with plants, .. I'm just tired.. and so late with my household chores. It seems impossible to be just right with both.. 😅 Still passionate by my collection but tired. I think to downsize my collection. I saw the 6 questions video of Fern recently and it could be a good start to do it. I've now a good hundred plants (without cuttings I want to sale) and it's more than enough.. but there are so much plants I see and I would like to add to my collection (mostly hoyas 😊) so I have to make choices..

    • @BasiePlants
      @BasiePlants  2 дні тому +1

      I saw that video as well! I think I am going to do something similar but like with 50 plants hahaha :D It is SERIOUSLY a lot, especially when you have other things going on. Like, you can't be moving, you can't get sick, you can't have another hobby (at least nothing TOO consuming), not if you have 400-500 plants :D And while I LOVE my plants, I don't want to be a prisoner of my collection and making videos also takes time & I enjoy it :) I also think doing something like - growing a plant out and then blooming it and deciding whether it can stay or go, is the way ahead.

    • @daphne6973
      @daphne6973 2 дні тому

      @BasiePlants Totally agree with you. Your last idea has always be mine but I struggle when it's time to let them go 😅..... but I have a feeling it will be less and less. Some of them bore me and I've decided that I no longer have the time or space for those who don't like it here. By the way, I don't understand how you manage to grow so much plants and still find the time to film, edit, etc.. All that stuff are so time consuming. On the other hand, I think that I'm too perfectionist: they are all on pebble trey, I control pH and oversee new leaves unfurling by misting those ones and... I do too much by fear of loosing one of them. I just can't say: "That's OK, it's just a plant". They are living beings and I feel responsible for them. Sometimes, I find me rudiculous, other times so proud to grow them as good. What a strange hobby this is..As rewarding as it is despairing..🤣
      Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for all your work and encouragement. Keep on educating us (and making me want to buy more and more hoyas 😂😂😂).
      Ps: My husband is a driving instructor... So we listened very carefully to your complaints 😉.It's always interesting to learn about the rules in other countries.
