    The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander is the 2024 AJAC Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year! Congratulations to Toyota Canada!

      It's definitely a great vehicle. I'm seriously considering on getting one in about 2 - 3 years. Hopefully Toyota can add another interior color choice and a few more features.
      This will be one of many awards to come for sure.

    Great review, love your personality and have watched a ton of the Grand Highlander reviews. I have one of these arriving next month (Max in limited trim). You think this is the best 3 row for the money right now?

    Have you driven a lower trim without the hybrid max to compare the drive? We can’t access a hybrid max where we live, my only option to test drive is a XLE

    I had the same issue with my wireless charger in my HONDA CRV HYBRID TOURING AWD. I fixed it by using a small piece of black foam and used rubber cement it to the phone area. Now my phone stays where it is put no matter how I drive. You can’t even tell that the black foam is even there

    Went with the regular grand highlander platinum. These dealerships are now selling the hybrids way over msrp. The Hybrid platinum after taxes etc is over 73k. That’s almost 13k more than the regular. Craziness.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  2 місяці тому

      Are you in the USA? We're lucky here in Canada that MSRP means MSRP, it doesn't stop resale market pricing though, so a dealer could put one on as a demo for a few thousand kms and then try to sell it for more.

    The third row seat folds back for more room (missed this). b) The second row seat can be adjusted as necessary. c) I'm 6'1" and 280 lbs. and am very comfortable with an adult female next to me in the third row (I take 60% of the seats and she takes 40%). Try it with the seats folded back and it's great AND has more overall interior storage space than the Sequoia (97.5 cf vs. 86.9 cf). In addition, both the third row seats and second row seats fold complately flat. The ONLY reason for a Sequoia is if you are going to tow something massive like a large boat or house trailer.
    Nice overall video and ending analysis. 💯

    I know the engineers already said that they couldn't fit an 8-speed auto into the HybridMax but, I feel like the powertrain here is superfluous.
    I feel that Toyota would have done better with a Prime PHEV version of this. Then it should have been tuned to about 315 HP with an e-CVT. A plug-in Prime version would have pretty much made this vehicle untouchable by other rivals.
    I understand that Toyota has handled the availability of the Rav4 Prime pretty horribly and that would have definitely transferred to a potential Grand Highlander Prime but, a plug-in hybrid would have been a better direction to go in with this vehicle in my personal opinion.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  4 місяці тому

      I hope a Prime version of this comes out, as it would be a killer option. I'm glad we're getting more hybrid options on the market, but for my lifestyle a PHEV is best.

    • @LoneWolfSparty
      @LoneWolfSparty 4 місяці тому

      Problem with the RAV4 Prime is two fold: it's only built in Japan (which isn't a bad thing, just longer lead times) and I think Toyota prefers to make more Prius Prime's instead of RAV4's. They do make a V6 plug in of this car, but it's a Lexus TX.

      If it was a no difference price and options, the lexus. They are similar, but the lexus sacrifices mpg for insulation, so it's quieter.. imo i'd rather quiet.

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  4 місяці тому

      We'll try to get our hands on one to find out. Currently we're in the RX 450h+ and there's a (expected) luxury feel that puts this at the top of our list for overall comfort and experience. The TX would likely feel the same over the Grand Highlander.

    There's something about new toyota design on interior i just don't like. It's a combination between cheap short seats and way too much black cheap looking plastic that at these prices isn't acceptable. I can accept it in a 20k dollar corolla, but in a 60k suv, it's just not okay.

      @@notidentified4031 My wife has a limited rav4 and i own a premium Lexus GX.. the lexus interior is on par with my symphony edition 2003 sienna. the Rav isn't.. It's not just the cheap plastic, but the seats gortex or whatever it's called feel cheap, then there's little annoyances, like no lights in the power window switches, so you can't see them at night, or even the fob, where all the buttons feel the same. They even cheaped out the rearview mirror which in my 03 sienna had autodimming glass and a compass, where the new one has the just the flip button.. Ya know, i really do feel like toyota's quality has slipped..

    Yeah, I think most folks who might use the back seat (3rd row) are not going to attempt if 6" plus and 200+ lbs, just not designed for them. That's the second or first row for these folks

    • @cpataxpro
      @cpataxpro 4 місяці тому +1

      Not true. That's just flat out disinformation there and shows you have never been in the vehicle itself.
      a) The third row seat folds back for more room (missed this). b) The second row seat can be adjusted as necessary. c) Most adults are not 350+ lbs. I'm 6'1" and 280 lbs. and am very comfortable with an adult female next to me in the third row (I take 60% of the seats and she takes 40%). Try it with the seats folded back and it's great AND has more overall interior space than the Sequoia (97.5 cf vs. 86.9 cf). With the hybrid, this is a top pick.
      p.s. Also missed the underfloor storage and the interior spare tire (no dirty spare under the vehicle). Also did not fold down the thrird row and second row seats to show that the entire floor folds flat for an astounding amount of interior space (didn't mention the easily available cubic feet numbers). Was the regular hybrid trim at 36 mpg mentioned?
      Overall nice video, good content, pleasant personality, and solid overall analysis! 👍🏻

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  4 місяці тому +3

      Toyota’s entire marketing for this vehicle surrounds the idea of it being an adult-friendly third row. Now I say in the video that I acknowledge that I’m not the typical sized adult, but given how ‘easy’ I was able to fit in this versus other three-row models, I’d say adults will find this vehicle comfortable enough.
      Sure, you’d want to stick kids in the back first when possible, but you can fit 6 adults in this comfortably.

      @@PRNTestDriveI appreciate you getting in the 3rd row as an American woman that's 5'9 and not 100lbs. I can really gauge how it would work if I needed to ride back there. I tried the 2024 VW Atlas 3rd row and I was shocked how comfortable that was also my knees wasn't in my throat. LoL I was wondering if the comfort and the seat height back would be the same as the Atlas? Looks like it from your video. Most of us Americans can say Thank you because we of all people down here aren't all a size S or M.😂 😂😂
      Great content keep up the good work and Thank you again for the back seat review.😊

    Has anyone heard that cheap tin can sounding door and shaking hood?

    • @PRNTestDrive
      @PRNTestDrive  4 місяці тому

      Nope. Most Japanese cars we've tested have very light hoods, we do notice a bit of a wiggle on the highway with some of them.
