- Photographing Budapest with Lomography Metropolis in both 35mm and 120! Plus comparing the new v old Metropolis formula.
First half is a video of our time in Budapest, exploring different parts of the city. Second half is me talking about the film and sharing some of the old formula images I have compared to the new formula that was updated in 2021.
Lomography kindly sent me Metropolis in both 35mm and 120 format to test out while I was traveling to Budapest. This video/review is my own words and thoughts though and is not sponsored. I do really love the Metropolis film and the results that came from this trip! So thank you Lomography!

The 35mm roll was developed and scanned by Polagraph in Prague. The 120 roll was developed and scanned by Analogue Wonderlab in the UK. I didn't edit past receiving the scans.

Out of all Lomography's false colour films, Metropolis is my favourite. Especially in urban settings, it just makes everything look good! I personally liked the image of the Tram the best! Excellent all around!
thanks so much! Agree with you 100% there 😊😊
Looks like you got some awesome shots!! I have my first roll of this loaded up right now, so this makes me excited to see the results.
thanks!! oh awesome yayyyy, would you share them on a video? Have fun shooting!
Outside of their color negative lineup, I think Metropolis is definitely my favorite one. Beautiful shots, Molly! 😊
Thanks Nuno! Nice - have you tried Turquoise? I'm just about to shoot my first roll and super curious how its gunna turn out!
@@Eclectachrome Not yet! From the results I’ve seen, it looks awesome! I said Metropolis, but I also really like Redscale! Have you tried it?
@@NunoAlmeidaPhotography I have! Didn't have great results but also I don't think I shot it to the best advantage haha would love to try again though!
Great video Molly! Haven't watched for a while. Love the classic music in the background too. What a beautiful city. Love the shots..not sure if I love metropolis though
haha that's okay! we all have what we like and not :) Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the music!
Love metropolis in bright daylight at 200, definitely a cityscapes emulsion. Cool shots in Budapest.
thanks!! Oh cool, thanks for sharing how you shoot it :)
I really like Metropolis. I find it a bit easier to blow out, but possibly with a more lively color pallet. The reds definitely pop. Great shots!
thanks Jamie! I noticed that especially on the 120 images, but yeah love the reds too 😊😊
Oh you we're in Budapest. I cant wait to get Back there again. Its great for photography ❤
it's such an amazing city!!! i'd love to go back :)
Oh man Molly Budapest looks incredible and so does Metropolis actually! So interesting to see the differences between 120 and 35mm maybe cause they were processed by different labs, but very interesting to see the differences. Will have to pick up a roll of Metropolis, and I didn't even know Lomography had its own social media site! That's crazy!
It's one of my favorite cities I've shot in!! Yeah think the 35mm from the lab in Prague was so warm and then 120 was a bit more like what I'd expect metropolis to look like. Lomography's social media is very underrated!! It's a little more like Flickr than Instagram, but I like it more than Flickr now :)
@@Eclectachrome Even though it's been through ups and downs - IG is becoming less and less relevant by the days! It's so good to see so many new places for photos popping up.
Really cool shots!
thanks loveeee :) :)
Very cool! All of these remind me of my Cross process rolls from the early 2000's.
Cool! What film did you cross process?
I adore Metropolis. Definitely my favorite color film. Corvinus University photo is excellent, river boat was really nice as well. But you should photographed in the area just north of Keleti train station. Metropolis shines when used in slightly ruined, not so brightly lit urban environment
ohhh well have to get there next time! I really want to go back, the few days there wasnt enough for me haha I agree with that!
Your 120 photos looked the way I expected them, but your 35mm photos in Budapest seemed a bit warmer/browner than I've seen.
yeah definitely - i like the warmer look but they aren't typical of metropolis - I think the lab warmed them up a bit - got them processed at polagraph in prague!
I haven't used lomography film so I don't know much about their film however looking at the prices of their cameras they are expensive.
they have a few expensive ones but also a few more affordable, but depends on your budget! the film is super nice tho!
Really like the new Metropolis better, but not by much. Not sure how much of that is due to 120 vs 35.
Which one did you use? I never used the old formula in 120 but think if I could only pick one, Id chose the 120 for this one!
