The only problem I have is stability. If the joints of the combined parts gets even slightly loose the whole gets unfun to play with. I tried getting into the CW combiners but I don’t want to after both combiner torsos I got were two weak to support the body. Criticize the skeleton frame, but at least it’s stable and not reliant on individual bot limbs
I'm surprised that you didn't mention Operation Combination which depicted two combiners, Guard City and Battle Gaia, who frequently swap the positions of the limb bots and change their abilities to suit the current situation. There was also that awesome art from Studio OX depicting the four scramble city combiners each with one limbs from the other team alongside their own.
I did it kinda intentionally, since I want to do a full video about them. For the studio OX art, there is something interesting that Hasbro doesn't want to let us to recreat the universe where all combiners decide to come to peace.
Menasor and Superion are supposed to be made like this based on the G1 cartoon...now if they do the same engineering with the other combiners, that's where the issues will begin 😂
I’m with you that the fun of combiners is the interchangeability of the limbs, but the point of this new combiners is accuracy to G1, plus this frame skeletons it makes the combiners much more Posable and sturdy than their combiner wars counterparts. I don’t mind this, for as much as I love combiner wars there’s always a chance of one tumbling down, I have to be careful with the posing. A combiner is still a combiner for me and if I want my interchangeability for the limbs, I still got my combiner wars collection Also hasbro is not the only ones guilty of making combiners like this, 3rd party companies have been doing the same for way longer, where were you whenever new 3rd party stunticons got announced? somehow it’s fine when a 3rd party company does this but not when hasbro doing this?
I 100% agree, hence why I’m slowly buying a few of MMC’s G1 Combiner team members. There’s no Partsforming (except for guns, obviously) and the two they have are magnificent. All the individual figures are solid MP Scale versions of the character with near perfect accuracy in all 3 modes. The main con is that they aren’t full Scramble combinable. With their Defensor and Bruticus, the arms can swap but not the rest. My favourite part of Combiners is that they actually combine, and slapping a bunch of guys onto a skeleton just ruins a lot of the fun and cool engineering in my opinion.
Doesn’t that just prove that swappable limbs aren’t possible for chug scaled combiners? If it is only stable at masterpiece scale, that means that it either needs to be legends sized or masterpiece sized
My main problem with combiner skeletons is that it feels less like combining the figures themselves and more like combining the figures with a brick. it's so much more fun to assemble the combiner as you buy it then it is to get most of it at once.

I love combiner wars simply cuz you can MAKE your OWN combiners. You could mix scattershot with smokescreen, prowl, streetwise and air raid to make a new combiner, or mix inferno with trailbreaker, fireflight/firefly, afterburner/afterbreaker and first aid. I have the CW constructicons, and g2 stunticons and I love both. Yeah sure people say menasor is trash and he is a bit hard to animate, but at least he can scramble. I might get legacy menasor so I can get a G1 set of stunticons. For the aerialbots, I'm trying to get a KO of superion, get a blast off and repaint him into a Slingshot/Quick Slinger, and get the new ones so they can rival Legacy menasor. Oh and I will get those ss86 contructicons so that there is an even scale among the combiners.
The aerial bots have been stated to be able to swap places. The combiner skeletons can also be mixed and matched, so this concept of “scramble city” still lives on.
The problem with trying to go without a skeleton structure for the combiner. You’re then trying to make a super articulated, bipedal robot. And then also trying to fit a strong ratchet joint into it to be an elbow joint in combiner mode. Combiner Wars proved that trying to just do the G1 style combiners, but with more articulation doesn’t work. You get flimsy limbs, and some figures not secure enough to support the combiner as a leg. You may hate the skeleton structure. But it’s a guaranteed way to ensure a stable combiner.
Look, I get it. It is stable and it has an audience. Good for them. There's just no spark for pure chaos. PotP and CW were not perfect by any margin but they made up for it with the chaotic fun of Mix and Matching entirelt separate figures on the fly. Good for the peiple who want animatiom accuracy. Not good for people who want the chaotic fun
@ and some changes to the skeleton structure and letting every limb bot be an arm or leg would be a great way to improve upon the current combiner model. Hell, there’s a rumor that Bruticus will have proper limb swapping. And quite frankly, I want the next God Neptune to not be a floppy mess that can’t even stand in its intended configuration.
@frenchfriedbagel7035 A future theoretical does not answer the current issues of lack of modularity. Especially with how the Combiners are being sold now. The focus on Sunbow accuracy limits the characters that can be turned into Combiners as a result. The most fun I had was when I was struggling to make my KO Bruticus. Then my parents bought me the PotP Dreadwind and I was happy making that Combination. That's the missing part. Hasbro isn't going to make different characters compatible with estaished teams. That's the shame I don't want perfectly stable statues just to leave on the shelf. I want moderately stable toys that I can have play battles with my brother. That was the best part
@@leandraferesthogar7249I alternate between fun and display a lot and I can’t really say they did it well with the prime wars. The toys were too weak to support the weight and became floppy, which killed all the fun I could have with it. Arguably, it served a shelf display better because I could only leave it in one pose to keep it stable.
I assume you'll still be able to swap the bots on the skeleton though no? Like, putting dragstrip on superions arm. Have they confirmed whether this is possible yet?
There was no word. But if the pegs are even slightly differently aligned, you won't. And even so, there are issue of Sling or Fireflight not being able to be arms.
It looks like Superions shoulders clip on the same way as Menasors, and their legs are definitely the same. So it’s a safe bet to say that you can replicate the limb swapping to a degree.
Granted I would rather the skeleton would do something useful like turn into flight stands but I would rather have this than Combine wars. That line had maybe 3 good molds and only one or two actually good combiners, and then they overused the molds for characters that don't work for them and stability issues. CW was not a good line infact it was a pretty much a bad line
Superion and bruticus were like the 2 decent molds from that and they did need an update and this is more of an accurate combiner not a gimmick which we already had with cw now it's more accurate and the next time we get them it will probably be gimmick based
@@leandraferesthogar7249 fair enough, I just think if people can be critical to these figures, people can be critical of the combiners of the prime wars trilogy
But there's already a CW Superion for you to combine with whomever you want and play with.... why all the hate with the new one? Or do you just want to bring all toys to a halt?
Main thing they are pointing out is that how they removed the original personality and purpose of the combiners as they are meant to mix and match together. While the screen accuracy is nice, they made limbs of Menasor unable to switch around with each other like by making the arms and leg robots unable to plug into the other robots place.
My main problem isnt specifically the skeleton system ( if they do it on the other combiners ill be pissed) my problem is that you end up with a leaderish scale figure for the torso bot and tiny little deluxe limb bots when they are supposed to be about the same height and mass when there really shouldnt be an excuse since unlike in cw the core bot isnt do any of the work anyway its some partsforming piece of crap that does all the heavy lifting.
The Moment I seen Motomaster being made so short & the combination on the feet had closing doors thing, I don’t want to buy it! I didn’t buy the latest Menasor! So Superion same design style, I still debating whether to buy it next year! I’m getting Devastator for sure!
Yeaaaaaah... Interesting, but I don't really care about any of that. At the end of the day, I'm never going to mix and match my combiners. I want my combiners in their most recurring and iconic looks. Just the same way that I want '90s Wolverine masked and in his tiger stripe suit, and don't need him unmasked in his Fang suit. But more power to everybody who has more imagination than I do 👍🏼
This Is the only solid way to do this or else the combiner Is going to lose articulation or the Ports used four the combination can be ruined but being all together fixes those issues so you argument Is stupid.
I could care less about parts forming skeletons. They can easily be made to turn into stands for flight mode or posing helpers. I care about the dwindling size of figures where the price doesn't reflect the smaller size. Keep raving about tiny little Dr Wu and Magic Square figures and paying $75 for a core class bots. When you show companies you WILL pay more for less guess what they ALL start doing? Sure they look awesome, but is a figure barely 4 inches tall REALLY worth $75? Get ready to start paying $50 for deluxe class figures from Hasbro. Lol
I was hoping that the -izer figures were going to lead to a new era in modern combiner figures, but sadly doesn't seem like they are going that way. They could of been like a more flexible version of GodBomber or RiD Ultra Magnus that could work for more transformers. Bringing back and sharing that super robo love.
Ye i think i agree it is lazy cause they just use partforming and superion is litterary a robot just without the others and i think the combiner wars version of superion is better and bruticus and defensor i think they'll will use the menasor treatment combination and that kinda was boring and lazy so ye i agree with you
It's a consequence of being slavishly devoted to Sunbow accuracy.
