Woodland Park, Colorado - History & Information - #35/100

Woodland Park formed in 1887 around a Midlands Railway Station. Recreation, lumber and ranching boosted the economy leading to growth in Woodland Park and the other Ute Pass communities as well. The Cripple Creek Gold Rush increased the region's momentum to the point that they continued thriving even after mining declined. With its close proximity to Colorado Springs, relatively flat landscape and vast forests, Woodland Park continues its legacy as an interesting and desirable mountain community.
Ski Lodge was created to publicly document our travels around Colorado. Started to simply get everyone out of the house, it has turned into a vast collection of history, photography and general information.
*A historical mistake was discovered at 0:38 as I stated the Spanish never passed through Ute Canyon, when in fact Juan Bautista de Anza travelled east along Fountain Creek in 1779 during his attack on Comanche Chief Cuerno Verde.
