Hey guys! I just wanted to hangout and chat with you all today! I talk about Tater a lot in this update but he and his health are a big part of our lives! I would love know if you guys think the neck bruising is normal or if that should be an area of concern. The vets office didn't see the bruise but they said it was probably where the blood was drawn so Im hoping that is all it is because google has made me nervous about dog bruising😅! We have been continuing our house hunt and I promise I should have an exciting update soon about the "thing" I have been talking about and maybe even a potential move! Leave any comments or questions you have down below! Love ya💖
Hello! Veterinary Nurse here! The bruise looks super consistent with a blood draw, especially if he was super wiggly - it can definitely cause a bruise like that! For his allergy testing - not sure if he’s seeing a dermatologist- if not I highly recommend going that route vs doing the blood allergy test. Most derms will do intradermal allergy testing and it’s usually a lot more accurate. Feel free to ask any questions if you have them!
I think it depends, was he wearing a leash often, is it hurting the dog or he is acting normal, did he had some vacation or medication on that área or close, if he was wearing something it can also just be an allergie or reaction, my dog had those with a leash, and she used that one over almost a year before no harm but one day is was bad, we throw it out and bought other from different material and it was gone.
You may check the peanut butter to see if it has any of the fake sugars in it bc that can cause issues with dogs. Make sure the peanut butter is only peanuts
You are such a gem and I’m so glad I discovered you during Covid and stuck with you since then. If I lived near you I think you and I would be great friends lol I don’t think you realize what a truly wonderful person you are❣️ The love you have for Tater and Ren is a sight to behold. The fact that you wanna go fight someone because you think they might have hurt him warms my heart ❤ He is so lucky to have you and Jeremey for his pawrents. I really enjoyed this catch up video and thank you for making it. It’s nice to see where you are with your health, the house hunt, work and whatever else you want to share. Love your channel and you sweet pea. I look forward to all your videos ❤
Hey babes, licensed esthetician here! It sounds like your skin barrier is severely damaged. I’d recommend a gentle, simple skin care routine for a few weeks until it’s repaired. Gentle cleanser, leukwarm water, hyaluronic acid serum, barrier repair serum/cream, moisturizer, spf for daytime. No harsh chemicals or makeup or anythingggg until it’s repaired. I hope you see this and it helps 💕 aquaphor also is extremely helpful! Also I’m not a dr so do whatever your dermatologist/pcp says 😂❤ P.S. you are beautiful with or without makeup 💋
I was looking for a comment like this! 💕 this honestly sounds like it could be eczema or even rosacea. Which definitely requires THEEE gentlest of products and a no make up face for awhile while everything is healing.
Exactly!! EVERYONE on UA-cam complains about their skin problems but then proceeds to try too cover it up with make up. You won’t die if you go a while with out makeup to let your skin heal. You might be uncomfortable but you won’t die and your skin with thank you for the breather.
I over-exfoliated my face once during the pandemic and had something similar happen. Once I figured it out I started putting an aloe ointment on my face and nothing else and it took a few weeks but it helped a lot. Haven't made this mistake since 😅
Hey, I work at a vet clinic so I can help clear some things up! The jugular vein is the quickest and easiest way to get blood from a dog! Tater is a pretty small boy and smaller dogs tend to bruise more easily and that’s most likely why he had the bruise on his neck. Most clinics are fear free so as soon as a pup lets us know they aren’t having it, we send them home with some calming meds (aka gabapentin and trazodone) that helps take the edge off. If it makes you feel better, you could always ask them to draw blood from the back leg too! Hope this helps. Also, if he hasn’t tried Apoquel or Cytopoint for allergies he can try that as well! It works wonders for my pup
Our vet last time sent us home with 100mg capsules of gabapentin for my 13 lb boy kitty that they scared the pee out of literally. They put a towel over his head & he freaked out & peed on the floor & maybe them (ha! I'm not saying they deserved it, but they kinda did). Just for shots! My boy wasn't having it & we weren't happy with them either. Our 3 other kitties were fine. I've been on that med & I think 100mg is a lot for him at 13 lbs (plus, I know people that have had bad reactions to it & he's my baby, even at 10 yo), so I got rid of the pills. We'll take him elsewhere next time. Maybe my boyfriend can hold him while they do the shots. He's good at keeping them calm for nail trims & such. I'm a bag of nerves at the vet with them. Does that sound like too much to any vets or vet techs here? 100mg capsule gabapentin for a 13 lb male neutered cat to clarify. I have no idea HOW I was going to get the med in him either. He's feisty & picky.
@@sarawhite9338 aw I’m sorry you had that experience! We sometimes put a towel over the kitties head if we feel like they are super super stressed so I’m sorry that didn’t work out for your baby. Maybe he could be in a kitty burrito next time? Some kitties find that comforting. For the gab, 1 capsule is in his weight range. It’s suppose to help chill him out and keep him calm but if you are concerned, I’d definitely let your vet know. As far as you or your boyfriend holding, that’s a liability issue. Not saying your baby would ever bite, but if he did and you two got hurt or anything the clinic could be liable. I would definitely talk to your vet about other calming measures such as Feliway and such. Hope that helps.
I agree with you! Fellow RVT here. I sing the praises of apoquel and cytopoint it’s helped so many pets even mine (I got a itchy baby who break out a lot) and other thing you can look into is feeding him a sensitive skin and stomach diet (I personally love purine pro plans salmon version due to the added bonus of omega 3 fatty acids) or you can talk to your vet about placing him on a special prescription diet like royal canine’s hydrolyzed protein or hills science diet z/d formula !
Hey! Lifelong crocheter here! Here's an easy way to make sure you have no tails: you can either (one) take the tail and the main yarn that you're using and crochet them both into the first few stitches, or two) you could use a yarn needle and after you're done with your project, Stitch it into the project and hide it that way. Just a couple of things that I've done over the years. Have fun on your crocheting Journey! Also, you can make so much with Granny squares! I have a friend who has made blankets for beds, bags, she even made me a little wrap using granny squares this christmas! I've actually used a granny square pattern similar to the first one you showed to make a baby blanket for a friend. (Just kept doing the rounds til it got big enough.) You can do so much with them!
Hi so I was wondering I can’t get past just doing one line of crotchet I can’t seem to go back on myself. I always end up with them not looking right and having to undo them. Can you give me some tips or advice? I really wanna be into crocheting but I’m so terrible at it 😭😭
@@IAmTheOnlyChaneli'd recommend closely following along with a beginner video so you can really see what you're doing and what the stitches are supposed to look like/where the hook should go as you're going along
Hi Alexandria, When you go to your new doctor, ask them for a complete blood panel workup. It can determine a lot. Most of your symptoms you mentioned are ones that I suffer from with my Hashimoto's which is a thyroid condition. The weight gain, headache and gluten intolerance along with the rash you are describing are ones I suffer from. The body aches are one of the ones I suffer from daily. It would definitely be worth getting it checked out and the blood panel work up can really tell you so much
I totally agree and make sure they also do an allergy panel because some of the symptomes can come from allergies that you mabey developt over time. Changes are that multiple things together causing all the problems.
With regards to the neck bruise, it is absolutely from them taking blood there and him struggling and not the actual restraining.them being rough. They likely got into the vein and he thrashed and the needle jostled, which is why they stopped taking the blood. They didn’t want to completely blow the vein and to minimize his discomfort and bruising. And I assume they went for the neck vs the leg because of the volume they needed would be quicker through the neck.
Or it's just pumpkin puree (as she said it might be :-)). Easy to clean off with an unscented baby wipe or damp cloth if so. 😅❤❤ Much love to you, guys/ gals & Tater & Ren. They're adorable. ❤❤
Having worked as a tech in a vet clinic for several years, I can reassure you that the bruise was instantly recognizable as something that does sometimes happen during blood draws. It looks awful, but it sometimes happens especially if the pet is really fighting the blood draw.
My dog is what the vet techs affectionately call "squirmy" and so he had a blood draw one time and they brought him back in the patient room to me, and about a minute layer, I realized I had blood on my hand and sleeve. He must have been very squirmy when they drew his blood and it caused him to bleed more than expected from his lower neck/upper chest area. I walked out into the hallway and said "hey, uhhh, no big deal but can I get some paper towel or something in here? He's still bleeding." And they apologized and explained that he was fine for the initial poke, but he was dehydrated some and they had to stick him a second time to get enough blood for the test, and he did not do as well with the second one once the needle was in place he wouldn't sit still. The vet tech helped me clean him up and had me hold some compression on it for a few minutes to make sure it had stopped, and it already had. My little man is stubborn though 😂
My bunny, who sadly passed over a year ago, was sickly from the moment we got him, and I remember that feeling of being grateful we were the ones who adopted him because I’m disabled so I could always be with him. I think being constantly there to monitor him helped us keep him with us for nine wonderful years. I still miss him so badly I’m tearing up, but getting those years was such a blessing. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me. So I really empathize with you and Tater. I hope he gets healthier and has a long, wonderful life with you. He’s lucky to have you and your family watching over him. 💕
One thing you need to remember when you are looking for a house is that you can always change the house, but you can not change the location! I learned this the hard way about 20 years ago. Also, in order to judge a location, you need to go to the house several times at all hours of the day/night to see what the neighborhood is like at that time of day. There is nothing worse than living in a bad neighborhood!
For the granny squares (and all crochet projects) you just weave the ends into the work. You can use a blunt/plastic tapestry needle or your crochet hook and just weave the string through the stitches until it seems safe and hidden enough; you can snip off the excess.
I started crocheting like 10 years ago in my early 20s. Don’t give up! It’s such a fun hobby and I can crochet literally anything just by looking at an inspo pic. It’s such a rewarding hobby 😊 also search a tutorial how to weave in ends so you can learn what to do with your starting and ending yarn
I get so irrationally angry at people that take beautiful old homes and give them the modern white/gray "farmhouse" treatment. Stop ruining a good things 😭
Modern NEVER fits an old house... Like EVER... Historic old homes need to remain historic and wood is not bad. I can not live in a house in white walls. I'd go crazy! My house is full of color and intrigue. Like when you walk in it's like stepping back in time. However, it's a combination of my husband's and mine tastes. Modern is not always better!
(Apologise beforehand for sounding very negative, I've got very strong Feeling's over this topic) I agree with you whole heartedly, I find it Absolutely atrocious when people renovate older homes into the new bland standard that is todays (Modern farmhouse aesthetic, And or Ultramodren) Most of the time it consists of ripping out anything with detail, Uniqueness, And Quality, and simply cookiecuttering the entire house and making it all way to open, Not to mention the fact a perfectly fine colorful 50's house with custom linoleum floor's that where unique in every room (Excluding bedrooms cause carpet) It was selling for 80K, but then It got sold, Then put back up on the market for 300k... All they did was make the entire house grey on the outside, Painted over the wood paneled walls, Ripped every glass light fixture out and made them all Wireframe lights with exposed bulbs, Ripped out the tree in the front yard and the plants and make it random plant's that looked like weeds, Few of them too, And of course.... Replaced the floors across the house with that beachwood grey faux wood flooring.... Why buy a unique home just to make it the same and ruin things nobody can get anymore ? That's the true question And of course modern never fits inside an older home, When people make victorian homes modern inside I feel it is an absolute disgrace, Plumbing, Fixing wireing and AC , Sure that's alright, But making everything white and bland and ripping out wood details... That's where the issue lay's
Hi ya. I have been around dogs all my life and had a dog was epileptic and we cut out all dairy products which did help, but he still had the odd seizure. Also my friend has 13, yes 13 rescue dogs and one of her dogs started getting bald spots on his side. Turned out to be seasonal alopecia. Maybe worth asking the vet next time your there. Poor little Tater xxxx
Crochet is great! I’ve been crocheting since I was a kid and I just now started making animals. Don’t stop, it is so rewarding. UA-cam is a great source to learn. Enjoy and stick with it!
We want updates on your health journey, too! Not only are we worried/care but a lot of the stuff you’re talking about is going on with me, and I’m sure others too! Although I am seeing a dr about it- they haven’t really been totally helpful so far.
If you want to get into crocheting little animals, Woobles is a great introduction into it, and the yarn makes it a lot easier to see the stitches. I think it'd be a great starting point. Excited to hear more about your crochet journey!!
Crocheter of 20 years here, youre doing really well especially learning off a video because that definitely makes it more difficult. The little tail end pieces that are hanging off just get worked into the piece so you can take a yarn needle and sew them end pieces that are hanging off just get worked into the piece so you can take a yarn needle and sew end pieces that are hanging off get weaved into the piece you can do that with a yarn needle or with a hook though it is a little more difficult using the hook than a needle. If you keep up youll be doing amigurumi (the little stuffed animals) before you know it. The hardest part with them is haveing consistent tension and then being able to read the patterns cause its essentially learning a whole new language 😅
That staircase in the house y’all looked at was such a beautiful part of the house. It’s characteristics like that in a house that not only gives it character as mentioned but that suckers me into loving older homes! ❤
Crocheting (and yarn crafts) is so great for calming down and taking a mental break! I love your squares! Those ends are meant to be woven in, so that's what you would search if you're looking for a video
Thank you for the update! I hope you and Tator are able to find some answers. It's always hard to watch a fur baby have health issues. I'm having some health issues myself and it can be very frustrating trying to find out what is going on. Good for you for not going back to a doctor that made you cry twice. That is definitely not the doctor for you. Sending healing thoughts and hugs! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I taught myself crochet this past year and I am a granny square machine!! I've made 4 blankets and 4 cardigans so far, but trying anything that isn't flat is scary lol. I'm hoping to overcome my fear and branch out more eventually, but for now granny squares are my life!! I also taught myself embroidery, and I found that much less intimidating for some reason. Having a relaxing hobby has Been so good for my mental health. Just make a bunch of squares and assemble them into a Tater sized blanket. Sending you love and hugs and extra hugs for the puppies 🐶 ❤
Hi Alexandria. I recommend you to try Cicaplast for your skin. It's from la roche-posay and I use it a lot, I have sensitive skin and I always apply it on my face when everything else stings. As for Tater, maybe, he gets to much protein from his dog food and treats. This also happened to one of my cats, I was spoiling them too much :)). Now, they are only having hipoalergenic dry food and treats only once per week, or less.
Hey girl I get scaly dry skin on my face and have insane sensitive skin that even CeraVe burned the ONE and ONLY thing that calmed and cleared my skin almost over night was Dr. Jardts ceramindin face cream. It's their yellow tube. Their witch hazel stuff is too intense so I don't use any of the redness relief but that yellow tube is THICK, ABSORBS so fast and DOES NOT BURN or sting or itch. It really got rid of my sensitive lizard skin. Plus I wash my face with head a shoulders and that combination helps me so much. 💜
Allergy tests are best left to a dermatologist. The blood tests can be pretty inaccurate. And for food allergies, elimination trials are the best way. Also, the bruise is definitely from Tater struggling during a blood draw. Unfortunately, some pets bruise easier than others, and that combined with a difficult blood draw results in some scary-looking bruising. Hope the trazadone helps future visits be less stressful for Tater!
My whole family's skin was doing the same thing! Turns out we needed a humidifier in the house because the humidity level was too low. Got the humidifier and now we're all good. We got one of the bigger ones from Home Depot and placed it near the air intake for the air unit.
Girl my skin was getting like this when I used glow recipe products (same thing happened to my friend & sister) maybe we’re allergic to an ingredient or something idk, but I’ve never had a reaction like that before.. My dermatologist said to just stop using a few skincare & makeup products for a few weeks & see if ur skin is better or worse, & then if it’s worse just remove all makeup, & do a very minimal skincare routine (and if ur skin gets better then it’s a product issue) & then you can slowly reintroduce stuff & see how ur skin responds, she said doing this can help pinpoint what product is causing the issues.
Amigurumi/crochet plushies are usually just a bunch of single crochets, so I would try to get some Bernat Blanket yarn (lighter colors make it easier to see your stitches) or something similar and work on a throw blanket to really get the hang of it, get your tension even, learn what the stitches look and feel like, all that stuff. Maybe do alternating rows of single and double crochet to give it some interest. Oh, and work on making magic circles! You use that technique a LOT in amigurumi!
I crochet! 2 things to note: 1 the leftover strings you sew in. You need a Darning Needle for that! And 2 your granny square probably came undone because you trimmed your string too short. Sew it in and trim off some extra. 😊 I've actually never done a granny square before, but there are some great tutorials online for making other things. Making theblittle critters is actually kind of easy. You should just look up how to make magic circles, slip stitches, single crochet, and of course chaining (which some of those you probably already do for granny squares!) The biggest thing with making the critters is to make sure your stitches are tight otherwise you'll see the stuffing through it! I would love to see any other crocheting you do!
I eat gluten free in and of itself gluten-free will not help you loose wt. It will help your belly. You may need to see a Rheumatologist. Joint pain and skin issues remind me of an autoimmune issue. I have psoriatic arthritis, it affects my skin and joints. Good luck and take care.
That poor old house hurts my heart. My house was built in 1903, and I could give a whole laundry list of damage that's been done by past owners trying to make it look modern. For example, at some point, someone cut through a support beam to install a medicine cabinet. Old houses have character, they should be allowed to keep it. On a side note, if you keep going on one of your granny squares, you can make it into a throw blanket, it's the same thing over and over, just bigger. 😊
I always love your life updates. I personally feel like you don't need make up so if you are in pain please don't make it worse. BUT I'm glad we got this video today :)
You talking about feeling so blessed that y’all are the ones who have tater reminds me of exactly how I feel about my baby Atlas. He has such bad anxiety, ESPECIALLY around men, due to the abusive home he was in before he came to us. He can get really anxious and skiddish around men and will try to bark to keep them away from me and our baby girl. My husband has been so patient but I know that not everyone would’ve been. I feel you girl. We love our babies and I know tater is so lucky to have you as his momma 🖤
I have some very sensitive skin and I've had similar reactions, try rubbing plain coconut oil on your face it should help with the inflammation and soothe your skin.
My little pup came to me because her previous owner finally acknowledged that he couldn’t take care of her, and when I got her, she was CONSTANTLY itching, scratching, biting, chewing at herself to the point where she was completely bald basically everywhere that she could reach, as well as weeping red rashes. I tried everything under the sun, but what finally seemed to do the trick was switching her to a salmon- based dog food, and adding a probiotic chew to help heal her gut from the years of horrible things she had been fed previously. It took about a month and a half, but she looks like a completely new doggo!
Thank you so much for sharing! It's so cathartic to talk about things. I love crafting. It took me forever to get the hang of crocheting but once I got it I was so excited! You can weave in your ends with a tapestry needle. Look up how to make a magic ring and from there you can start to make plushies. Good luck 😊
Hey bestie, it's okay, bring it on, we all need to vent sometimes. Also that breakout might be perioral dermatitis, and going back to the most basics (simple face wash, lotion, spf) and letting your skin just breathe from too many products will help. I've had to deal with that a lot once I started BC pills and cortisone cream or sulfur wash help too.
Does anyone else like the video as soon as she posts it but haven’t even watched it yet?The second I click on the thumbnail I hit the thumbs up button😂 It’s a given, I’m going to love the video!
I crochet, and I really enjoy it. Once you get the hang of it and learn to read patterns, it's super easy. With those long strings on your granny squares, you just want to weave them into the backside of the stitches on your granny square. Get some tapestry/ yarn needles for sewing in the ends (I prefer the bent tip metal ones). Just search for a tutorial on weaving in crochet ends, and that's really helpful. I highly recommend getting stitch markers. That will save you lots of headaches, especially when you start amigurumi.
I'm 43 this year and only learnt to crochet about 5 years ago, i have made many blankets using granny squares, i made myself a cardigan from granny squares, i love crafting, i 5d, bead, crochet, wood burning
I'm a big crocheter as well. For the little center string that you started off with you thread it on a yarn needle and you weave it into the worked crochet You do the same thing as well for the tide off ending
You should try giving Tater CBD twice a day, after meals. It works best with food in the stomach. That completely got rid of my mom’s dogs seizures. Cytopoint injections have helped my little dogs allergies and itchiness tremendously.
I understand the pet stress. My poor cat has stage 3 mammary cancer and is recovering from another mass removal. Poor thing has an infection that we’re getting under control and all she wants to do is snuggle and purr
I can (kind of) knit, pretty much the only thing I can do is scarves, arm warmers, and hats. Those are pretty simple for crocheting too, so it would probably be an easy next project.
Just a note that celiac tests can have false negatives, so it might be worth checking again if the gluten free diet works out. My brother has it, and it took several years to diagnose. It impacts his joints and skin as well as the expected stomach issues.
For the crochet, you need to weave in the ends. You can look that up and find tutorials. Basically, you just weave the yarn through the piece you just made so that it stays hidden. It makes the ends invisible and helps to stop your piece from unraveling. You can do it with a crochet hook, but I recommend getting a darning needle. You can get them for pretty cheap and they make it a lot easier. I hope this helps! :) Also, I am glad you shared your granny squares! They turned out so cute! You did a great job! I hope you enjoy crocheting and keep up with it! You are doing amazing!!
I would highly recommend ordering Wobbles crochet. It's a kit they send you to make plush animals, and they send you everything you need to make it (It was on shark tank i think). Also, I would love to see your granny squares and stuff later on. it would be so cute! And you look beautiful with or without make up so no need to cause problems for your skin with all the makeup stuff. If you need to go on an advent calendar cleanse to heal your skin, we will be here to watch anything you put out. Love you, Alexandria!!
Run as fast as you can from old houses! Our house is old (not as old as a victorian but old) and we have to special order everything, nothing is standard. Unless you can completely gut it and redo all electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural (especially foundation!), this will just wind up being a huge money pit. We have put so much into ours that we feel like we may as well keep going but looking back, I wish thirty years ago when we bought this "deal" that we had passed on it and got something newer (brick) that we would not have had such upkeep. Hopefully, you will find one that has been restored and is in good shape since you both like the historic houses. Also, I know you mentioned about your weight, have you considered Zepbound? I have been on it since July and have lost fifty pounds. You don't look like you have much weight to lose but just wanted to mention how well it has worked for me in case you were interested. Enjoy your vlogs!
I am a hooker (crochette person) too. I am terrible at it but found this beautiful yarn that changes colors and is super soft. That way I can just crochet a straight line and loop back. Made a huge blanket and working on my second one now! Bernat Crushed Velvet yarn. Expensive but super soft.
Okay, I know everyone on here is offering all sorts of advice, but I would definitely go and see a dermatologist for your face! Especially if everything is burning. It sounds like you've got some really dry skin. The "blisters" you're describing actually sound a lot like rosacea to me -- I have rosacea, so my skin gets really red and can end up being very dry and flakey if I don't take really, really good care of it. I was put on a 90 day antibiotic treatment and given a face cream, and that cleared up most of the problem. Now I use a sensitive skin wash and make sure I wear sunscreen every single day on my face. I also recommend being careful about using aquafor when you go out into the sun -- aquafor can actually cause burns if you're wearing it just directly on your skin. I'm really glad that Tater is doing okay, and I hope your skin stuff gets resolved soon :)
DAYUM. That house is 200k$? We just bought a house that’s 700k.. and that’s low in my area… that’s just horrific. I’m glad you ran from it because it would need a TON of work. Prayers for Tater of course! ❤
No wonder people are still flooding our housing market. $300k still gets you a nice middle class house, $500k and your neighbors will assume you are rich...
As a vet assistant / wildlife rescuer and a vet med student, that bruise on Tater is most definitely from the blood draw. It's a super sensitive area, but common for blood draw -especially when the animal is as you put it, a little rambunctious, the legs especially the hindleg are near impossible to access. Also the bigger gauge of needle can also cause bruising but are necessary for some areas of the body. I hope you both perk up a little bit, soon!!! Sending you all, all of my love! ❤
I used to take trazadone for depression/anxiety and gabapentin for nerve pain. I'm off both now. I didn't realize that pets get human drugs. I hope Tater is better soon. Poor baby. Hope Wren is doing okay. Take care of yourself too! Love ya 💕💕
for taters little bald spot, perhaps try benadryl! my guy gets “flank alopecia” in the winter when its dry out & gets bald spots on his sides. his vet recommended a 10mg benadryl with dinner + he gets oil on his dinner too & its made it completely go away! as for crocheting, when i started a few months ago i wanted to do little animals & everyone said to just start off doing random stitches so you can practice the different loops & stuff without it being a whole project. i ended up making what i call my “wonk cloths” because theyre just super wonky wash clothes since i wasnt good about counting my stitches 😂 (also its called sewing in your ends for the middle piece! its actually infinitely easier than youd think!)
I absolutely LOVED seeing your crocheted granny squares!! I started crocheting last year or so (can't remember) but I still haven't gotten the hang of them!! So I'm both SUPER Proud of you and a smidge, teensie weensie jelly ;) lol I have been watching a lot of tutorials for them, and so I have seen they take a yarn needle (just a blunt tip needle with a larger eye for yarn) and weave it through the thicker parts and the cut off the excess string, Viola!
I recently had a similar reaction on my face after using some vitamin C serum and tried for about 1 1/2 months to heal it on my own. That didn’t work so i went to the derm and she said that i had a bad rosacea flare up. I had to go on antibiotics and use antibiotic cream and it was so much better within a few days. I think i would go to the derm to have it checked out! I wonder if Tater has IBD. My dog was diagnosed with it finally after several years of trying to help his stomach issues. He is on prednisolone and prescription dog food, which really helped get it under control. We did food allergy testing and cut out the foods it showed a high intolerance to, along with the prescription dog food. He rarely has it flare anymore! I hope they figure it out.
I recently picked up crochet! Took me a week of making weird granny squares and odd blobs before I got the hang of it. I have had good luck watching video tutorials to learn stitches, just started trying to learn how to read patterns, made my first (lumpy) amigurumi cat the other day! Just keep at it, with my ADHD it's been the perfect thing to keep my hands busy while talking to friends or watching videos or listening to podcasts.
We have two fur babies who are allergic to EVERYTHING. The right food CHANGED EVERYTHING. It's Purina Pro Plan Hydralize (not sure about the spelling!) which is only available with a prescription. Everything changed for the better for both our dogs with it! Their coats are amazing and they itch so much less. I've debated whether or not to tell you about our very allergic fur babies and their food, but I wanted to just in case it may help Tater!
Hi Alex, check out "wobbles" at your local craft store. They're crochet kits and make small cute animals. Great way to learn. Sending love to you and tater.
I also find that a low fodmap diet was best for my gut issues (coeliac, IBS, Endo, PCoS). Definitely a boring diet (don't necessarily need to be super super strict) but it also helps eliminate foods that are aggravating the belly.
I've been crocheting for 4 years and I have yet to make a single granny square. I can say though that granny squares are not the easiest thing to make. But if you can make a granny square then you can make an amigurumi ball. Once you've made a ball you have the basics of amigurumi down and can likely follow a pattern for a simple amigurumi.
I was so excited to see your squares! I just learned to crochet in November 2023, and I started with animals! If no one already mentioned, you will weave those end into your work! Can’t wait to see what you do! Keep us posted!
I was a vet assistant for a few years. It’s totally normal for dogs to bruise like that. It can happen with a really easy blood draw, but it’s a lot more likely if the pet moves during the blood draw.
I just recently learned to crochet too! I haven't moved to granny squares, but I started with The Woobles kits, and I've been making animals ever since. It's such a fun hobby. :)
I learned how to crochet when I was a child. A few years ago, when my knee went out, I made a crocheted afghan. Now, I had been working on a green and white afghan since 1999, and I have all the pieces in a couple baskets since I took it apart when it was horribly not square. The one I actually finished though, is just a giant granny square! I just kept turning until it was the size I wanted, which turned out to be exactly how much yarn I had. I've made many scarves, which isn't hard once you've got a grasp on the chain stitch. There's a UA-cam channel I watch when I want to learn things, Play Hookie With Me (it might be Hooky). As for illuminating things from your diet, try going dairy free for 6 weeks. I know it's hard! Dairy triggers an inflammatory response in the body.
I am 35 this year and I was diagnosed with coeliac disease last year. Transitioning to a gluten free diet has been hard but worth it, I have lost weight since. Good luck with the gluten free diet. ❤
I was literally crocheting some lavender flowers while I watched this! Granny squares are an 'easy' project, but they do require counting and pattern following so you might prefer to just whip up some simple single or double crochet swatches first to get used to the stitches and turning. You can use these swatches as face scrubbies, washcloths, coasters, whatever!
So excited to see you’re crocheting! I’ve been crocheting for years and watching you for years so it’s awesome to see the two come together. Also get a yarn needle and weave the end through your stitches several times then you can snip it 😊
My Grandma taught me to crochet and attempted to teach me to knit. I’m not nearly as good at that. I love to crochet and it is so relaxing! Don’t give it up. I just use a darning needle and sew in the ends. It’s quick and easy
Thanks for posting, and congrats on the crocheting!!! I can’t seem to wrap my brain around it. I took up loom knitting and that was a lot of fun but my carpal tunnel made me pause that. You take your hook and weave that end into the square!
Praying for you and for Tator to both start feeling better. You can make coasters from the squares you are crocheting, Christmas ornaments and the list goes on.
I worked at a halfway house that is the oldest house in town. It’s a Victorian house. The previous owners made it and bed and breakfast, so a few things had to be changed to have it up to code, but not too much was changed thank goodness. It was so cool because when the ladies/residents would come they’d call it a mansion. Made me realize how special it was. Side note: the basement you mentioned sounds exactly like the basement at the house I worked at. Must be common for that era
My face and skin is identical on what you described. Use raw coconut oil on skin of face and body it really helps calm it down. Plus you can add some hydrocortisone cream as well. Dont use any skin care creams until you heal. Cooling foot powder works good or gold bond for makeup setting powder for less irritation when your skin is inflamed.
You know something, you are such a beautiful human. I see how you get emotional over your little baby and I can feel your pain for him. I thank the lord too that he is your baby as you give him everything and more … I genuinely hope things get better for you with your health very soon. Nobody should be made to cry at the Dr’s. ❤❤
These videos really remind me why I watch you. You are so funny and relatable. I feel like we are just two good friends catching up. I can’t wait to see the rest of the advent calendars!
My mom crochets, she started us with chains, then double chains, then granny squares, then a baby blanket then a regular blanket, you work the thread into squares so you don't see it.
For crocheting animals (amigurumi), a good way to start is by crocheting hats. You only need one or two crochet types to do hats and amigurumi. Learning to do circles is most of what you need to know to make them and seeing them on a larger scale is definitely easier to learn.
Our Jack Russell had some sort of seasonal allergies which made her pink and itchy and she'd lose hair in patches. Apoquel was great for her, but "ask your doctor"😉. We also felt grateful that we adopted her because she had SO many health problems which I'm not sure other people would have had the patience or time for.
I have very sensitive and very dry skin. On my face, I use vichy's 89 Hyaluronic acid. You put that on your face after a shower when it feels tight and it works wonders. I follow it up with cerave moisturizing cream and honestly my skin as never felt better! For my body, i use la roche posay lipikar body moisturizer and body cream wash and my skin is so soft. I also use it on my 4 year old that also dry skin. I have IBS and going gluten free has helped me a lot with my gut issues. Limiting my dairy intake has also helped a lot. Hope these suggestions help! 🙂
Hope you and Tater feel better! Crocheting is fun and relaxing. You can make all kinds of things from granny squares, like scarves, pillows, blankets, etc. Then, branch out. I learned from my aunt when I was little. You'll get better and enjoy it even more. Good luck with the new doctor and feel better! Sending prayers.
As someone who has been crocheting since they were 10 you’re doing great. It will take practice but you will get better and will be able to do those harder things as things come more naturally. You are doing the right thing with the granny squares. I think the hardest thing for a lot of people is to get an even tension. If you ever want advice just ask :) (Ps… you need a wool needle so you can “weave” the “ends” back into the squares.
I know that you probably don't need to buy a starter crochet kit to learn to crochet little animals but I will say I got a Crochet Buds penguin kit for christmas and as someone that had never crocheted in my life I thought the directions were really easy to follow and I ended up with a cute little penguin that actually came out pretty well.
Oh! I'm so excited to see you're learning to crochet. Your granny squares look so cute!! Go buy a darning needle (or several - they disappear). They are larger needles that have a big eye and blunt tip and you can use that to weave the ends into the middle of the stitches to hide them. Look up a video about weaving in ends. You can use your first little pieces to put under plants to catch any drips. Keep going! I can't wait to see what else you make.
I was having similar symptoms and my PCP finally ordered thyroid testing came back I have hashimoto's an autoimmune disease and now on synthroid.
Also I’m not a dr so do whatever your dermatologist/pcp says 😂❤
P.S. you are beautiful with or without makeup 💋
I'd avoid HA though in Winter unless you have a good humidifier! Dries me out worse.
If your barrier is compromised, the ordinary barrier support serum really helps my skin when it gets like that!
Thank you for helping our friend!!
Cytopoint works amazing for our dog, too!! Definitely recommend asking your vet about that.
You should try the woobles crocheting animal kit. They are cute
Hi so I was wondering I can’t get past just doing one line of crotchet I can’t seem to go back on myself. I always end up with them not looking right and having to undo them. Can you give me some tips or advice? I really wanna be into crocheting but I’m so terrible at it 😭😭
I have just brought a wooble the penguin 🐧 one can not wait to try it
@@IAmTheOnlyChaneli'd recommend closely following along with a beginner video so you can really see what you're doing and what the stitches are supposed to look like/where the hook should go as you're going along
@@15AbayI was going to say the same thing
As a vet tech I second this!!
@@Maddie_XOXO_26 As a fellow vet tech, I third this 😂
Or it's just pumpkin puree (as she said it might be :-)). Easy to clean off with an unscented baby wipe or damp cloth if so. 😅❤❤ Much love to you, guys/ gals & Tater & Ren. They're adorable. ❤❤
Was just about to say the same thing lol. Also fellow rvt 😂
@@sarawhite9338 that orange/yellow line is separate from the bruising. And most likely from the pumpkin puree. Lol
Binky Free, bunny 🌈
@@jmarshal Thank you. That’s very kind of you to say.
If you get cotton yarn you can make your granny squares into little washcloths! They’re a great starter project
That’s what I did when I started, small victories when I finished them!
Seriously though! And if it's not your style, don't buy the house! Find one that fits your style better 😭
It’s not your house
@@TRKJSRthats why the person said “irrational”. they know its not their house and they shouldnt be angry, but they are.
(Apologise beforehand for sounding very negative, I've got very strong Feeling's over this topic)
I agree with you whole heartedly, I find it Absolutely atrocious when people renovate older homes into the new bland standard that is todays (Modern farmhouse aesthetic, And or Ultramodren) Most of the time it consists of ripping out anything with detail, Uniqueness, And Quality, and simply cookiecuttering the entire house and making it all way to open, Not to mention the fact a perfectly fine colorful 50's house with custom linoleum floor's that where unique in every room (Excluding bedrooms cause carpet) It was selling for 80K, but then It got sold, Then put back up on the market for 300k... That's the true question
And of course modern never fits inside an older home, When people make victorian homes modern inside I feel it is an absolute disgrace, Plumbing, Fixing wireing and AC , Sure that's alright, But making everything white and bland and ripping out wood details...
I'm so glad you are finally going to have a Primary Care Provider! They help so much in making sure you get everything sorted out.
That staircase in the house y’all looked at was such a beautiful part of the house. It’s characteristics like that in a house that not only gives it character as mentioned but that suckers me into loving older homes! ❤
You guys are doing so well with Tater! It's so hard to see a baby suffering, but at least he has very caring parents 💌 thanks for the video 💖
I came here to recommend that very thing! It's a wonderful product! I use it after chemical peels. Definitely recommend it!
Yes I also use this when my skin is angry!!
Avene makes cicalfate too which does a similar thing.
So good to see you girl!! You look BEAUTIFUL as ALWAYS!! I am sure you are STRESSED, so skip the make-up, hun!!
She has reactions to coconut oil I believe
@amberhaze2131 dang I must have missed that 😕
My little pup came to me because her previous owner finally acknowledged that he couldn’t take care of her, and when I got her, she was CONSTANTLY itching, scratching, biting, chewing at herself to the point where she was completely bald basically everywhere that she could reach, as well as weeping red rashes. I tried everything under the sun, but what finally seemed to do the trick was switching her to a salmon- based dog food, and adding a probiotic chew to help heal her gut from the years of horrible things she had been fed previously. It took about a month and a half, but she looks like a completely new doggo!
I love the chats. Thank you for sharing all that you do.
Thank you so much for sharing! It's so cathartic to talk about things. I love crafting. It took me forever to get the hang of crocheting but once I got it I was so excited! You can weave in your ends with a tapestry needle. Look up how to make a magic ring and from there you can start to make plushies. Good luck 😊
Yay!!!! So ready For an update!!
Yep, every time! 😊
Yeah me too, just seeing her is worth a like for me.😊
Every time for every video.
One of my dogs when I was a kid started randomly losing his fur. Turned out he had a hyperactive thyroid.
I'm 43 this year and only learnt to crochet about 5 years ago, i have made many blankets using granny squares, i made myself a cardigan from granny squares, i love crafting, i 5d, bead, crochet, wood burning
Please try the brand -Prequel. This brand has what you need for your skin. Created by a dermatologist. Its affordable.
I'm a big crocheter as well. For the little center string that you started off with you thread it on a yarn needle and you weave it into the worked crochet You do the same thing as well for the tide off ending
I absolutely love all your videos ❤ feel like I'm watching a friend.
Hoping the best for you and kitty❤
I can (kind of) knit, pretty much the only thing I can do is scarves, arm warmers, and hats. Those are pretty simple for crocheting too, so it would probably be an easy next project.
Your crochet gets better each time!! You have to weave those ends in!! Keep going you’ll get the hang of it!
Just a note that celiac tests can have false negatives, so it might be worth checking again if the gluten free diet works out. My brother has it, and it took several years to diagnose. It impacts his joints and skin as well as the expected stomach issues.
Love chatty videos and seeing how you and tater and your family are doing
For the crochet, you need to weave in the ends. You can look that up and find tutorials. Basically, you just weave the yarn through the piece you just made so that it stays hidden. It makes the ends invisible and helps to stop your piece from unraveling. You can do it with a crochet hook, but I recommend getting a darning needle. You can get them for pretty cheap and they make it a lot easier. I hope this helps! :)
Also, I am glad you shared your granny squares!
Little babies all rugged up ❤
I am a hooker (crochette person) too. I am terrible at it but found this beautiful yarn that changes colors and is super soft. That way I can just crochet a straight line and loop back. Made a huge blanket and working on my second one now! Bernat Crushed Velvet yarn. Expensive but super soft.
Hiii Alexandria! I'll fight with ya! 💖
That house would be over 1mil in the area near me
I know, right? I mean, I get that markets are different in other places, but $200k would be like a down payment around here.
@@sarabaldeschwieler7763 same! Easy!
time for a dermatologist appointment.
I used to take trazadone for depression/anxiety and gabapentin for nerve pain. I'm off both now. I didn't realize that pets get human drugs. I hope Tater is better soon. Poor baby. Hope Wren is doing okay. Take care of yourself too! Love ya 💕💕
You know the video is going to be good when it starts with the possibility of a fist fight 😂
for taters little bald spot, perhaps try benadryl! my guy gets “flank alopecia” in the winter when its dry out & gets bald spots on his sides. his vet recommended a 10mg benadryl with dinner + he gets oil on his dinner too & its made it completely go away!
as for crocheting, when i started a few months ago i wanted to do little animals & everyone said to just start off doing random stitches so you can practice the different loops & stuff without it being a whole project. i ended up making what i call my “wonk cloths” because theyre just super wonky wash clothes since i wasnt good about counting my stitches 😂 (also its called sewing in your ends for the middle piece! its actually infinitely easier than youd think!)
Hey i love your videos. You weave it in some. Then you cute off the extra.
I got a Wooble kit for Christmas and crocheted a Narwhal! Then I started on a blanket. I love you're granny square colors!!
I crochet! Great job on the granny squares. Google how to "weave in ends" and that will take care of your extra strings.
I crochet! You can weave in the loose ends with a yarn needle
