Don't forget you need 2 rooms for all your backlog of subscription boxes! 🤣🤪 If you guys aren't sure on kids, pls don't let a Dr try and talk you into one saying the pregnancy helps with endometriosis etc. 20 yrs ago it happened to me. I stood up for myself and stood my ground saying we weren't planning on kids so 4 months after I turned 29 the Dr finally agreed to do a hysterectomy. Keep standing up for you! thank you for being so open! You are helping people more than you know! I was stage 3 so I can't imagine 4! Best of luck! Jeanne

Great confirmation for all of us to advocate for ourselves at the doctor's office. I tend to have this 'oh, I don't want to be a bother' attitude that hasn't served me well. Actually, I don't think it helps others either. So happy little Tatter is doing well after the raisins. 🐾💙

I'm so glad tater is okay! We once had a pup eat several bars of Hershey's chocolate and we called the emergency vet and they told us there's pretty much no amount of hersheys chocolate that will hurt a dog because those practically no cocoa in it which is disturbing all on a its own

    • @PinkPaws88

      Only dark chocolate is harmful

    • @deliasharpalyce
      @deliasharpalyce 5 місяців тому +9

fun fact (?), chocolate is toxic at about the same rates it is for humans as it is for dogs! the rule of thumb is 2 oz per pound of milk chocolate, 1 oz per pound of dark chocolate to get into trouble. it's just that uhhhh. we don't. we don't really eat 150 oz. of dark chocolate in one go. whereas a 12 pound dog can actually eat like 12 oz of dark chocolate, since that's an amount of chocolate you'd actually have and be able to buy.
white chocolate tho is totally fair game, it only contains the cocoa butter and not the chocolate solids so eat as much as you want and feed your dog as much as you want LOL

It depends on the size of the dog too. I’ve got a 5lb pup who cannot get more than a handful of Hershey kisses without being in danger, but my childhood 67 lb dog was totally fine (aside from being a bit disoriented) after eating a massive larger-than-king-sized amount of chocolate.

One thing to note is that both anxiety and depression are side effects of chronic ADHD. When you finally get treatment for the ADHD, it's like night and day.

I’m wondering if that’s my issue, I have ADD that I’ve never had treated with any sort of medication, but I have depression and severe anxiety as well. A great deal of my anxiety stems from my inability to complete things and procrastinate till the last possible second, I’m just too afraid of being looked at like a drug seeker if I ask to be treated, so I’ve just been spiraling for prob 2 decades. Almost same thing happened. I was sick a month ago (haven't been sick in very long time). I had an appointment with the doctor Dr and decided to leave my senior dogs out of their kennel because had no energy. I was doing self remedies that included tea, honey, vapor rub on feet with onions. I threw the socks away in the bag was tossing tissues in. I really was so sick that I couldn't think straight. I came home to see torn up tissues and the socks with no onions. I honestly didn't have any money and didn't know what to do. I cried and called a friend who was willing to meet me at the emergency vet. My dogs never got sick or reacted and turned out to be okay. But I was truly devastated, but grateful they were okay. It happens, but we just have to be hyp aware that they get into anything at anytime. I'm glad the babies are okay!😊❤ You are not alone in this.

It has a tendency to lower the threshold for seizures for some people, so just be aware of that and make sure the other medicines you take don’t do that as well! The day we were moving out my dog got ahold of rat poison. The emergency vet induced vomiting and they wanted us to call poison control and explained the immediate $85 fee. The brand she ingested could have either been really bad or she was gonna be okay. We didn’t know which of the 2 types she had and poison control would have had no way to tell us either. So we refused, like you said I get they need to make money but it seems like such a scam.

ADHD is a whole ride, watching your videos and hearing you talk about it is really inspiring to me and I get a lot of validation from it cuz I relate so much to your experience, so I feel less like "it's me, I'm the problem, it's me" if you get what I mean lol.

I work as a vet nurse and one day I brought my dog to work as many of us do. A dog came in who ate a box of raisins from grandma's bag. We made the dog vomit, and the vet was going through the vomit to take the raisins out to show the owner and make sure we got them all. After showing the owner in the room, she was walking them out and didn't realise my dog went into the room behind her. He ate all 10 of the raisins! One of the other nurses who went in to clean the room saw my dog and saw the raisins missing, and she immediately started to panic. We had to make my dog throw up too, and he was so miserable all day! 😂😂 my vet felt very bad, but it was an accident and a funny story to this day.

YaY you, advocating for yourself. It can be so hard, I struggle with it too. Sounds like you have a great doctor who will really listen to you, though. I hope the new med situation works out for you.
Tater is such a little tyke. I have a friend who's dog christmas 2020 could smell that one of the gifts under the tree contained chocolate, even wrapped and seeled in a container. So he decided to help himself! He apparently did a great job unwrapping it. Miraculously he was absolutely fine. That old boy was quite the character (used to take himself door to door around the neighbours collecting treats and skritches, but could his humans get him to go on a walk?...no chance. lol), he has passed now, sadly (not chocolate related).
I vaguely had heard that raisins were not good for dogs, but I didn't know just how bad.
Good luck with the house hunt. I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, though, that is very sad. If you do find a good place to move to, I am sure we will all miss Jimmy's gardening & you talking to him; maybe you can invite him over to stand outside and run the leaf blower or lawn mower 😂. He has no idea he is famous.

Another cookie ingredient that most people don’t know is very toxic for dogs is macadamia nuts! Never give your dog a cookie that even has them in it, even if you’re not giving him the actual nut!

I just recently had to call pet poison control and pay that ever so fun fee. My dog decided it would be sooooo amazing to eat a plant that isn’t good for pups. $85 later, they told me she will be fine to wash her mouth out with water and it will only be serious if her face swells. I of course didn’t mind paying it to make sure she was okay but $85 is a lot.

I had a friend who got a black labradoodle puppy who ate a chocolate cookie. She took it to vet who gave it charcoal, he was fine but he'd kind of cough and some charcoal dust would come out. Her boyfriend was confused and asked what it was, she told him all labradoodle puppies are black but they loose their colour and turn golden when they get older and that's what was happening here 😂😂😂

It's not uncommon for diagnoses to feed into each other! Your ADHD might have been exasperating your Generalized Anxiety, so now that your ADHD is being taken care of, your anxiety is more manageable despite still being there ^^

  • @NatalieG427

It just sounds to me that you may have too much going on and that is causing more anxiety for you. I’m 60 & when I was in my 20’s I used to get anxiety attacks. But that was due to feeling pressured by people about what I SHOULD be doing for work. I actually had no clue what I should do for work back then. The doc put me on Lorazapam, which just made me feel drowsy. That seems to be the whole point of these anti anxiety meds. To make you feel too sleepy to be anxious. Almost like Dramamine. So, I stopped using it. Later I went Into Childcare, which I enjoyed. I never could learn how to drive either & my husband did try to teach me. I know of several people in my life who don’t drive due to being too nervous to do it. I believe it Isn’t for everyone & really a knack or ability that not everyone has. So sorry to hear about your family friend, but glad to hear Tater is doing better. Sometimes when animals are on medication, their system gets used to it & it can become ineffective over time. Just like in humans. I make that point for what it’s worth. Be well Alex.❤

I love this kind of videos. Yours.
I feel like living through you😂
I have a big flat and won't be buying house in a near future. I don't have a dog anymore😢...you get it.
    I simply like you. 😘
P.S. In my knowledge, Wellbutrin is highly addictive. Have that in mind. And you always have to slowly get down/off from such a serious drug. Ok, in your case they've replaced it with another one, so probably that helped.
My grandfather was a pharmacist, I think in USA it would count as a masters degree in ph.(we have completely different educational system in Croatia).
I was prescribed Pregabalin(Lyrica) long time ago and was advised NOT to take it because it EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE and EXTREMELY HARD to get off. Just sayin' because I really care about you.
Some doctors (might have had good intentions in their beginnings) don't have your best interests in mind. Only theirs.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but big pharma has a lot of money and with right ("amount of") incentive, it's incredibly sad how some doctors suddenly forget their Hippocratic oath and throw away their morals and ethics. Sad, but true.
Take care, love. You are truly amazing and fabulous. And lovely, wonderful and fantastic! 😉❤️

My dogs have eaten raises before and nothing happened but if you catch a dog eating anything they shouldn't give them a teaspoon or so of hydrogen peroxide and that will make them vomit immediately. These places are insane charging money for nothing. Of course they're going to tell you you MUST bring them in to vomit. Telling you that because he's a flat faced dog he could die vomiting is ludicrous. It makes me sick the way vets do people. We have vets here that take advantage of people like that also. I always want to ask them how they sleep at night, but I already know.... on an extremely expensive mattress on the softest sheets our money can buy.

@@rtre957 I wouldn't say easily, but yes, taking the correct medication sure does help, no matter what your condition is. Of course, if that's not something you support, that's fine, not everyone's the same. But for some of us, medication was and is a litteral life-saver. People can either judge me because I'm nearly non-functional and depressed about it or they can judge me because I use a medication that helps me focus, which lets me to thrive and be a fully functional person. The choice is not difficult for me to make, I'll take happiness and thriving every time.

I'm so proud of you for advocating for yourself at the doctor! It can be really hard to do that, especially since your doctor doesn't seem like the most, shall we say, communicative person in the world😅 Before my husband passed, we would always go in to each other's appointments just to advocate for each other and make sure nothing got passed over or forgotten. If you have a hard time speaking up at the doctor, don't be afraid to bring someone you trust right into the exam room with you, it can really help!!

Yup plus there are certain breeds like hunting breeds and breeds bred for culling rats and badgers etc that are just highly and impossibly food motivated and no matter how well you train them, they will always scarf down any scrap of food they see. There's actual evidence to show these breeds, as well as retrivers, that have a literal greedy gene that causes this and you can train these dogs till youre blue in the face, they will still be food motivated and occasionally food aggressive its just a bad accident that happened and he's completely fine and alive and that's the main thing. I dare anyone to say Alex is a bad dog owner, we all can see she is far from that, the fact her dogs are not food aggressive is a testament to her ability as a dog owner.

So I can explain the pet poison control thing! I used to work at an animal ER. You are not just paying to speak to the poison control people. Once the poison control people speak to you, they come up with a detailed and unique treatment plan and communicate that to the vet staff. Then the poison control folks remain available to speak to your vet staff during the entire case to make recommendations in case something changes. Toxicity is so tricky and so specific and poison control are the experts.

My vet clinic (UK) are the ones that call poison control, pay the fee and talk to the phone people 🤔 otherwise it can end up as a hesaid-shesaid thing.
There’s a yearly membership and you get a big discount on repeat calls 😅
But they don’t call for common things like raisins and chocolate in normal healthy dogs.
(Also my only phone call the poison lady was a bit - IDK. obscure medication is not in the book🤷‍♀️might be fine? Might not? )
