    Drew.. I like the video, but as someone who's trying to figure out where to go on the island and what to see, It would be super helpful if you would tell the name of the city you're in and the beach you're on and what restaurants you ate at that you thought were good. Also great to know, what is the name of the port you arrived at and if that's where you rented the scooter. There are three on the island as I understand.

    August is our busiest month... And we mostly don't go running around in the heat during the afternoon... That's why you found the streets not so busy..

      Also because the Greeks dont go up mountains much. It ain't their style whatever the time of day ;)

    Have been there myself in the early 90's and it still looks the same which is amazing to see, It would of been good for you to mention of the places where you where at rather than saying "over the other side of the island and in the main town"... but good video.

    Aegina island if I am not mistaken is where the St. Nektarios' relics are. Why didn't you go to the monastery. BIG MISS!

    Aegina is a great place to just chill out and use as a base to visit other Islands and Athens Drew. I stayed at a village called Souvala in the north east. It was heaven. The local people were great. The owners and staff of the Milos Hotel were wonderful. The tavernas were top notch and although the idea of drinking resinated wine might seem a bit oh oh, it works well in the heat of the summer. Getting Gyros from a fast food joint is an inexpensive and none too shabby option as well. From Aegina I visited Poros, Hydra, Athens, Mycenae and ancient Corinth by Flying Dolphin Hydrofoil or ferry trip. Steer clear of the hydrofoil if the Med is on the rough and choppy side of a day. The Brits don't call it the vomit comet for nothing. For those who don't want to risk ending up needing skin grafts after risking two wheel transport, there's a good bus service, or reasonably priced taxis to get around. Ouzo? Ouzo gets you drunk from the lips down??? Your head still seems clear, but your mouth encrypts any words that come out of it like an enigma machine. I loved it there! You're right Drew, it is under rated, but not by anybody who's been there.

    Genuine question: Why does every travel vlogger insist on being in 90% of the video, covering most of the screen. They're the least interesting thing about the video.

    Something I forgot to mention that never comes up on Aegina videos, you may or may not find interesting Drew. At the south end of the island there is a massive cavern in a cliff face. It's not natural. The Germans built it during the WW2 occupation. It used to hold 2 very large guns. There were access points above, but they are not accessible. The islanders don't view it as a tourist attraction and I don't blame them. I only found it by accident after hiring a boat. I took one look at it and it seemed pretty clear to me I was looking at Alistair McLean's inspiration for the guns of navarone. If anyone goes looking for it, try not to stall your engine in front of a very large ship like this fool did. They don't like it and make a lot of very loud noise. ☹

    For the love of all that is holy, get a GoPro and the appropriate holder. It's incredibly irresponsible (and illegal) to drive a scooter with one hand just so that you can hold a bleeping phone/camera with the other. You might hurt or kill someone doing such stupid stuff.

    • @WillApplebyUK
      @WillApplebyUK 2 роки тому

      I think he was using a GoPro, but yes I had the same thought. I rented a moped in Greece for the first time this year and the roads are so bumpy that I would never have one hand off the controls at any time. Unlike the locals however, I've seen them riding with no helmet, one-handed, on the phone, with a coffee and usually a carrier bag or some package between their feet!
