i love how its always mars vs earth...not solar system vs some outer alien invader when the system must band together to beat...but 2 worlds fighthing over 6 main worlds including smaller ones....some things never change...from war of the worlds to the expanse its the same

Their terraforming technology would still be highly needed and extremely precious for the colonization of the ring worlds, but Mars itself is losing its meaning - as planet, and as idea. Mars, Earth and the Belt should split these world among each other while providing each their assets: Earth labor force, the Beltas logistics and maintenance, Mars technology.

As the Arboghast approached Venus and discovered a Martian ship shadowing them, it's commander broadcast a challenge, saying their mission of scientific research was permitted under the Venus Accords. I would be quite interested in knowing more of these accords, their provisions, their signatories, their history, etc.
It could be something like the Antarctic Treaty. The UN and Mars could’ve agreed that Venus wasn’t territory of either government and only scientific missions could be conducted there
I thought so too, but it could come apart quickly.
A shame to see this gets so little love, it was amazing and I do hope to see more in the future.
I have to say I found the ideal of terra forming a planet into a new Eden a truly noble ideal to get behind but if another habitable world was on offer it would become a hard one to sell
I loved how despicable Earthers are to Martians, especially when you first encounter them in S1. "I could never understand your people. Why, when the universe has bestowed so much upon you, do you seem to care so little for it?" - Lopez. Lopez was low-key one of the best-executed characters in the entire series IMO

Just found this. I've consumed a lot of Expanse-related media and am generally a huge fan. Just wanted to say this was incredibly well-done, and anybody that's new to the world of the Expanse that wants to brush up on certain topics - look no further!!! The creators of this did a really good job hitting all of the relevant points, and I assume their other Expanse videos would be great too.

Not until after it has grown enough to sustain a country-sized permanent population. It needs to be capable of sustaining itself indefinitely without assistance from Earth before it can be truly independent.

Commas are good. It’s easier to read 900,000,000 than it is to read 900000000. I have to look closely to figure out if that’s 9 billion or 900 million. Commas prevent confusion. Commas are used in numbers, specifically big numbers.
Who heads the MCRN?
Well the MCRN is a naval organisation so it would either be a grand admiral of some kind or the Martian PM, similar to how the US President technically runs all military organisations.

It’s somewhat misleading to suggest that prior to the opening of the Ring Gates and the beginning of the extra-Solar Era, the Mars Congressional Republic had “the strongest economy in the Sol System” and “virtually no unemployment.” As Bobbie Draper herself marvels when she first visits Earth and explores outside the walls of the UN Compound in *CALIBAN’S WAR*, the planetary polity over which the UN presides is sophisticated, cosmopolitan, artistic, philosophical, and socially complex to a degree far beyond anything Mars could ever even dream of, and the UN’s Earth population of 33 billion citizens made the 4-5 billion citizens of the MCR look “like a cultural backwater.” Mars had “virtually no unemployment” bc 1) it lacked a hospitable planetary environment and created massive public works projects in its terraforming program, 2) the MCR had *compulsory* military service for all citizens, 3) even more than Earth, Mars brutally exploited the Belt for resources to be used in its terraforming project, and 4) Mars had a SIGNIFICANTLY smaller population to take care of than the UN did.

Excellent video, but the narrator has ABSOLUTELY BOTCHED the word "diplomacy". Looking at overall quality, I can't help but wonder, just how did _that_ even make it into the video?
