I cry every time I watch the MV 😂I agree with what you said about how the world seems darker now with it being more selfish. It honestly feels like the world has progressed but also regressed in certain ways. More open-minded in one way but more narrow-minded in a different way. More respect but more disrespect too. Idk if I make sense lol

This MV makes me bawl every time. The song is also haunting. I don't really listen to it as much as I love it.

I think this is one of those ones that you don't need to watch it all the time to feel that

And just think, this is their pick for title track from their first album. So impressive at such a young age!
As someone in their 50s, when I look back, I think the world has changed in a lot of ways, but people are essentially the same. Some are good, some are bad, some are easily led, some are as stubborn as mules and a lot are broken. There have always been a lot of broken people. It's just more obvious now because it's acceptable to talk about it. Before it was still there, it was just hidden. Older people always give the impression that things were 'better' in the past. That's only because they like to remember the good things and push the bad stuff into the background. The best time to be alive is always now. There will be good days and bad days, some days it will be down to good moments and bad moments, but that's just life. In my entire lifetime, there has never been a day when the world wasn't threatened by some war or other, when women and children were actually safe, or when things were even close to perfect. To say that there was is just looking backwards with rose coloured glasses. So what do you do? You make the best of what you have. You be kind to yourself and others and learn to live and breathe in the moment. And you keep going.

Very well said, I do think that for sure, a lot of stuff was swept under the rug, and honestly I think one thing too, some stuff was perpetuated as the good or right thing that in turn probably was damaging than something that could help move things and people forward, and honestly it is up to you with what you have and what you can do to make the best of it all

I get goosebumps everytime with this song, i personally love their live performance of Melted on Unplugged it seems more intense now that they're singing it as adults too.the live band hits diffrent and gives more intensity and heavyness kinda.i love it.

oh I am right there with you, there is a good heaviness like you said, but in a way that I think is so relatable, as kids we all know what it looks like when it feels like adults didn't listen or care to what we had to say!

Thanks for sharing your sincere thoughts here, it was lovely to hear and I totally agree!
I remember initially not caring much for this song even though I appreciated the MV, I think I found the instrumentation a bit too… jaunty? But over time I’ve really come to appreciate the message sooo much more especially with AKMU being kids themselves when they wrote this, likely in the same age group as the boy in the video.
I feel like in this version, the phrase “why are they so cold?” really expresses that childhood innocence and the illusion that starts to crumble when faced with the realities of how cruel life can be. In contrast, the rearranged version which they worked on as grown-ups, and I much prefer sonically, comes across as more from the perspective of a jaded adult who has in some ways become one of the cold ones as an inevitable result of the harshness they must experience on the journey into adulthood.
The title is also very clever. Although it’s rendered in English as ‘Melted’, in Korean it’s actually 어름들 (oreumdeul) which is a play on the word for adult - 어른 (oreun), and the word for ice - 어름 (oreum). The 들 at the end just renders it in plural, so they use the nearly identical wording to refer to adults as ‘cold ones’.

      Thank you, Jaydee.
Interesting, I feel like this was one of the easier songs to like haha! but I totally see what you mean, they seem so ahead of their age, how can you be so young and yet so conscious on what they write. its really impressive.
Ahhh! that actually makes sense, and also at the same time, very clever to write it like that, how sneakily good, it is true, a lot of adults really do get colder and they get older, I see it now for sure.

This was stunning. Gorgeous song, powerful video.
I have a different view of the world though. I think the idea that we are always progressing towards something better is an illusion. I think life and human experience is cyclical and things will get better and worse equally in different ways as each individual person, country, society is evolving in their own cycle. Thus the need to be kind and look for the good is even more important because there is no future time in which the darkness will be gone forever and struggle will end for everyone. That may seem bleak to a lot of people but for me it is more comforting to think I am just on the wheel of life like everyone who came before me and will come after me and doing my best while I’m here to live the best of the good and learn from the bad rather than feeling like the world was supposed to be a certain way but it isn’t so we’ve collectively failed and are doomed.
I mean civilizations rise and fall and I think everyone experiences the feeling that life isn’t what it used to be regardless of what time they lived in. There is no the way it used to be, that is an illusion based on where you were in the cycle of your own journey. There is only where you are now and what you’re going to do with that.

Childish yes but I just don't watch the video, once was enough, don't need to be broken again. And yes don't need to know the words to know that it is indeed a haunting song, I just close my eyes and hear the beauty in their voices. Gave up on humanity a long time ago to be honest!!!
