  • Disclaimer. From my experience, people either love or hate this technique. Some find it a lot of fun and extremely useful, while others say it's daunting and a waste of time. Just to make it clear, I don't think that everyone should be doing shadowing, but since there isn't much information about this technique online, I decided to tell you what it is and how it can be done, so you can watch and decide for yourselves.
    This video is the first part of the tutorial. Here I'm trying to lay out the overall idea and the steps you should follow. I will post the second video in a few days where I will actually do shadowing myself so you'll be able to see how it is done.
    If you have any questions, please share them below and if I haven't been able to explain the technique very clearly and there are a lot of questions, I will consider doing another video in the future with the answers to your questions.

    09:20 - Step 3: Listening
    19:02 - Step 4: Relisten and repeat

    I appreciate that you use advanced words and phrases sometimes and show the definition on the screen. So people don't need to pause the video and go to google or a dictionary. It's very kind of you.👍

    It's soooooo nice to see a video about techniques, not just a video that only reads a list of words. Thanks again Inna.

    Could you please share a list of the videos or the people you have shadowed? I'd really like to sound british, I love how it sounds, but I just cannot find the right videos. You say on your video that it's better to shadow interviews than scripted content. I also found some good youtube vloggers with a good transcription but they seem to be scripted.

    Do you use this technique to learn German language?

  • @potestasetdecus
    @potestasetdecus 9 місяців тому

    The accent is pretty good for non-native, but I would strongly recommend to abide videos done by natives, as in this video is quite an amount of indistinct, vague and mingled accent vowels and consonants which reveals it was said by a non native person. As a result it'll coin an adapted pronunciation

      @@musicm1rage623 Only 5% of Brits use this accent, while at least 2/3 americans speak the way we all know and love (source: letthemtalkTV channel). So I do not grasp it why anybody should mimic this dying out sounding

    I've just have known that you are Russian, I am Russian, too but I can hear your accent. The sound of the letter 'v' discloses it so try to make the sound narrower. So that would be my advice to you in spite of I have been studying English for two years and a half (American) working on it every day.
