I just installed this product today and so far, I'm happy with the product. I have a 2024 Silverado with a 5.3 and these results were evaluated by hooking up a "SCANNER" to the OBD port.
Stock results (Range not installed) in drive or D
    Idle - All cylinders
    Acceleration - All cylinders
    Coasting - Cylinder deactivation
Maintaining a constant speed - Cylinder deactivation
    Cruise control - Cylinder deactivation
Stock results L9 or manual gear selection (Range not installed) - Just a side note when cruising in 10th gear and shifting from D to L it would drop to 7th gear
    Idle - All cylinders
    Acceleration - All cylinders
    Coasting - All cylinders
Maintaining a constant speed - All cylinders
    Cruise control - All cylinders
    Range installed
    Idle - All cylinders
    Acceleration - All Cylinders
Coasting - Cylinder deactivation - I expected this because it was mentioned on the web site.
Maintaining a constant speed - All cylinders
Cruise control - All cylinders - I was not sure if it would read all cylinders because there was not any physical input to the gas pedal, but it worked on my truck
Like mentioned I just installed this product today and I'm happy with it so far. I'm glad it also activated all cylinders with cruise control turned on. I'm not looking to have a great sounding exhaust, and I understand the frustration of cylinders cutting out and creating a strange exhaust tone. I just thought this would be good info for you guys.

@@oldbase54e60 I don't have much more to say other than the info I stated above. I can tell you I drove my truck three times since the install without scanning and the truck functions like normal. No check engine light or hic-cups or anything. I could not feel anything as far as better performance since the install but knowing my motor is firing on all cylinders most of the time gives me a piece of mind. These new vehicles have so many moving parts and electrical - computer controlled stuff and I hate it. We have to deal with what the market has to offer to us now days, so it is what it is. I don't think you will notice a difference as far as performance after the install but for my truck the product did what it said it would do. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, you may have a better exhaust tone running on all cylinders but I'm just guessing so don't quote me on that. Hope this info helps. While talking crap about all the new electronics in these newer vehicles I do enjoy the infotainment system LOL

Just my 2 cents, I returned this a few months ago after conflicting information regarding "0-cylinder mode". From what I read I was convinced the lifters were collapsing during coasting and for me that was unexpectable. Well here is the latest statement from range I have found on a Chevy Forum Posted 12/30/2024 :
Hey guys, Jacob here, Brand Manager for Range Technology. We're sorry if you were confused over the capabilities of our new DFM Module for the Refresh applications. We tried to share the information about 0-cylinder mode in multiple places on our website. Sorry it wasn't clear for you.
While we have the ability to turn off the '0-cylinder' function with our module, when we were doing our internal testing, and then when we had external beta testers in the field. We had an overwhelming amount of response of the negative side effects in drivability by turning off this factory feature with our device. With that info, we opted to leave the 0-cylinder mode active when our product was installed. Our device is disabling your DFM system 100% of the time, but under dcel with no throttle input, the vehicle will enter 0-cylinder mode, which isn't your DFM system at all. The ECM is actually cutting fuel to all 8-cylinders so there is no combustion, it is not collapsing the lifters like DFM does.
Turning off the 0-cylinder mode had a major effect on fuel economy (most users lost 2-3mpg), you lose your factory engine braking feature (big deal while towing or coming down a grade), and the signal can only be sent after specific circumstances are met. The downside here is that until this signal is sent, your DFM, Start/Stop and 0-cylinder modes will still function like stock. For more light on this, the vehicle must be driven anywhere from 30-seconds to 5-minutes, and once that criteria is met, you must surpass 40mph, once those two criteria are met the device can disable all three features. But again, you'd lose fuel mileage and engine braking. So, if you're only doing around town driving and never surpass 40-mph, your DFM still works... and on top of that, those two criteria must be met EVERY time you start the vehicle.
Knowing all of this, we opted to release our product without disabling 0-clyinder mode until our engineers found another avenue that wouldn't create the negative side effects. We opted to offer you DFM and Start/Stop Disable all the time...regardless of driving conditions and paramteres.
Needless to say, I'm going to re-order it.

Install took 5 minutes. On the TB, you don't need to remove the wheel well liner. For leverage, address the truck from the front(on your back looking up)
Noting this in case you were wondering how long it would take to detach for dealer service, or if you were on the side of the road. No need to come in from the driver's side

Above and beyond that it woke my 2023 5.3 trailboss up so it’s like a completely new truck. Sounds odd but the truck just runs and rides so much smoother. Obviously on take off and in town stop and go but like when cruising 35-45 or whatever the truck just runs more smoothly and coasts so much smoother. Sounds strange but Oddly enough to boot I have gained atm over 1 mpg even though I am driving the same of even harder. In my mind it’s because I am actually in the throttle less on daily driving because it does just idle and coast at speed so smooth. Perhaps shutting off cylinders also reduces power so it’s harder to maintain speeds without it disabling afm/dfm? Idk, don’t claim to be an expert there but I highly recommend it 💯!

So, for those of us that purchased the initial version of RA007, are we going to be able to exchange it for the new version that I hear you’re working on that will allow for 0 cylinder deactivation? Pretty disappointed your website didn’t spell it out. The product description is vague. Why would Range think the average consumer understands what this means: “Some applications may still encounter 0-Cylinder Mode while coasting when 0% throttle input is detected at the ECM.”How is a consumer supposed to understand that statement? Especially when it says “may” not “will” encounter. Only a software engineer or mechanic is going to generally understand that statement, not an average consumer looking to disable the DFM completely. Completely false advertising.

    • @rangetechnology8178
      @rangetechnology8178  2 місяці тому +1

If we release a module that allows you to disable the 0-cylinder mode, yes, your current product can be exchanged. As to your other comments, the 0-cylinder mode acts differently than DFM, as the vehicle is cutting fuel under 'coast' conditioning, not changing lifter/valvetrain like DFM does, and not all vehicles experience this as often as others, so we are being as open about the products capabilities as we possible can be. The RA007 is disabling your DFM system, just as we advertise/market. We are working on a revision that would allow the end user to select between the current version and a version that would turn of 0-cylinder mode as well. But there are drawbacks to deactivating 0-cylinder, you lose your built in engine braking (which makes for a poor driving experience when coming down steep grades and towing), it could potentially affect emissions (we're testing this right now as we speak) and it has/will affect your fuel economy.

The Auto Start Stop feature will be disabled at all times with this module installed. We do not make any changes with the in-cab button or dash display however. So your factory button will still default to it's factory setting and illuminate when you start the truck as it does without our module installed. The light on the button will go off if you press it and the dash emblem will come on, just like it functions stock. But regardless of whether you have the in-cab button on or off, the Auto Start Stop feature will always be off with our module installed.

Took the cover underneath the fender off plugged it into the bottom port just like the video shows got back in the truck took it around the block and guess what
I'm still having cylinder shut down at a low idle and then when the truck finally comes to a stop it's almost like somebody pulls a plug out of my exhaust and it kicks back in and you can hear the exhaust come back to life I know this because I had dual exhaust put on my truck and when I drive around in L7 there is no interruption in my exhaust note but when I drive it in drive and I let off the accelerator the truck goes quiet even though I am still moving and until I either hit the accelerator again or come to a complete stop the truck silent but even at a dead stop again it's like somebody pulls a plug out of my exhaust and I can hear it again so that tells me this device is not keeping all eight cylinders on the whole time
Very disappointed just got it yesterday put it on tonight and it sounds the same as it did before the install again if I put it in L7 it's a totally different truck and there is no interruption in the cylinders anybody else having this issue

We STRONGLY suggest it to avoid any voltage being present within the ECM when the harness is disconnected to prevent a potential issue. These vehicles will also continue to feed the modules power even after you've shut it off for a few minutes. So disconnecting the ECM harness before it's completely powered down, could cause a check engine light that would need to be cleared with a scan tool the first time the vehicle is restarted. To avoid any issues, we do suggest disconnecting the battery.

Only works with 12th digit of the VIN 5 or higher? What kind of crap is this? I got an email that this product was available and called to place the order over the phone. No one told me that my VIN had to be a 5 or higher. No I have to go through the hassle of sending it back. This is the second time I got screwed by these guys. I bought a Pulsar LT in 2022 for my Sierra 2022 refresh. I called three times telling them I had the refresh and asked if it would work. No one seemed to even know there was a 2022 refresh. Isn't that their job? To know what vehicles are coming to market and whether or not their products are supported? I bought the Pulsar and didn't work with my vehicle. Lucky for them that nothing fried. Called again and told them it didn't work and someone finally told me it didn't work with the refresh. Now it happened again. How hard is it to make a product that works for everything. I now have a 2024 Sierra Dinali. This is supposed to support all of the refresh vehicles. Now I found out the 12th digit of my VIN needs to be 5 or higher. WTF. These people are idiots.

That VIN information is only required if you have a 2022 model year truck. If the 12th digit is a 5 or higher you have a Refresh and need our new RA007 device. If the 12th digit is a 4 or lower, it is not a Refresh and you need our older RA003 device. All 2023 and 2024 models will use the RA007

It keeps your vehicle from going into four cylinder mode when it should. Causes heat in the transmission which is killer of trannys.

I am absolutely not happy with this product, In fact I ordered this product results it deactivates the dfm But not in deceleration phase, the engine goes to 0 cylinder it is very unpleasant Why market a product that does not meet customer expectations? I am in France, it took almost 1 month for me to receive the product + customs clearance fees, in the end it is useless..

    • @rangetechnology8178
      @rangetechnology8178  День тому

We're sorry to hear your not happy with the product. We tried to be very clear on our website descriptions that we do not disable the 0-cylinder mode. There are multiple reasons for this, fuel economy and engine braking being the key reasons. It's also worth nothing that the 0-cylinder function, is not the DFM system activating. 0-cylinder is a function of the ECM cutting fuel to the injectors while coasting to aid in fuel economy. Our device was developed to disable the DFM system, which it is doing any time the product is installed in the vehicle.
