@Donslife I have a 2019 AT4 6.2 with 10 speed. It has the factory performance package (exhaust, CAI, Tune). I dont get all the drone with this package as i read about from others that add aftermarket exhaust. Is it possible the factory tune disables DFM? I cant find any good responses to this question online….
Don, are you sure this works? If you go on the range website, the 10 speed either 5.3 or 6.2 is not listed. I also had this in combination with my edge insight, and can confirm it did NOT stay in V8 mode all the time.
@@caseysathan I emailed tech support at Range Industries before making the video asking the same question for my 6.2L. Here is the response: Hey Don, Yes, the units will be compatible with the 10speeds.

Just purchased a 24 6.2L Denali and it seems the hassle of install on the refreshed version would not be worth it for each trip to the dealership.... Wish they had a true plug and play not disconnect the battery jack up the truck take out wheel well etc.
Hey buddy, I literally just had my 2016 GMC Sierra Denali with the 6.2L in the dealership to replace all lifters, rods and rockers because I had one fail on me. As of today (22NOV2024), I got it back yesterday and today I drove it to Kitchener/Waterloo, which is about a 2 hour drive and I installed the Range AFM disabler. NO joke, it feels more peppy and after all the driving, I end'd up the same with 13.0L per 100km for fuel usage. The truck feels like new and the disabler is a great investment. P.S. Love the lights on your rig. Cheers.
Had one for my '18 Silverado with the 5.3 and after watching your video I confirmed it will now work on my' 21 Silverado with the 6.2l. Glad I never got rid of it. Now my 6.2l will be a true V8!
I use BT Diesel AutoSync that allows many benefits (lighting changes, window switch activation and many more) - also for AFM. Love it! No need to have a dongle plugged in constantly. Also, I did use Holley's Superchips F5 Flashpaq for tire sizes and a 91 octane tune (tuned out AFM on it, too, but the Autosync let's me get into the BCM for changes). I always love the vids, Don, thanks! :)
I went with the Pulsar LT and I haven’t had any issues. I bought it specifically for the tire size change option and the throttle control. The auto stop and DFM disable were a bonus.
I have been running the Pulsar LT on my 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 (6.2L) without any issues. It works fine. The two #1 reasons were for AFM/DFM and Auto Start/Stop. The Pulsar added a couple of other nice features, like tire size correction and throttle position. Pretty sure my truck is prob out of warranty now...so, not really concerned about that. Like you, I have done more frequent oil/filter changes using Mobil 1 only. Truck runs strong.
My pulsar is in the box gathering dust. 2020 6.2 AT4 10spd and after months of no problems I finally started getting the random fault messages and being thrown into limp mode; after trying everything else the internet recommended I took the pulsar out of the equation and the issue stopped. Started flaking almost everyday where I would have to disconnect power to the truck to clear the fault or else engine wouldn't start! This DFM and auto start stop eliminator paired with peddle commander is my pulsar replacement for about 10 months now and zero issues 🤞🤞 ymmv obvi
Thank you Don, another great video!! I've been cussing that darn Auto Stop/Start function ever since I bought my truck. Because of this video, I bought one of these Range Technology devices and plugged it in this morning on my 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali with the 6.2 liter engine and it works GREAT! Took care of that darn Auto Stop/Start function and has the added benefit of disabling the AFM/DFM function as well. I will let people know that on mine, the light on the Auto Stop/Start button in the center column stays on, but the function is disabled which makes me smile every time I come to a stop!!!
I’ve had a Pulsar installed on my 2020 for 3 years now. Never looked back. The only thing that sucks is the MPG (13 maybe 😂) but that’s it. Never had a problem of any kind with the LT installed. The tire size adjust and throttle control option with the Pulsar is a bonus
Great Video Don! Another way to verify that it works is to plug a good scan tool to your car and look at the Live data. If it’s truly working it’ll show “0” for cylinder deactivation cycles of all cylinders like when in L9 mode. I just purchased one of their freshly new released DFM deactivators for the GM refresh models and sure enough the scan tool said otherwise. Back to L9 I go.
I installed a Range DFM and auto stop module in my OBD port on my 2020 LT Trail Boss less than a year after I purchased the truck brand new. It has worked flawlessly. I just remove it when I go for service and plug it back in afterwards.
Hey Don I had one in my 2018 silverado 1500 5.3L, And I'm getting one for my 2024 gmc sierra Denali 6.2L because I been calling Range Technology for it but it was not yet ready, So I called the other day and it was ready. So I'm called them tomorrow for it and should have it by Friday.
I'd love to know if this would work with my 2021 Silverado 5.3 with the 10-speed. I absolutely LOATHE the AFM/DFM system, and gives me that "helicopter hovering" noise. Glad to hear you had success with this!
I’ve been running these since they first come out on my silverados, minus my high country that I just had it disabled after a dyno tune, I no longer have a Silverado and gave it to my dad, he loves it as well. Doesn’t leave a footprint on ECM either.
They FINALLY came out with the disabler for the 2022 refresh and on...except instead of OBD2 port, it plugs into ECU. DFM only kicks in when you are coming to a stop, which Range says can happen.
I have that installed in my 2019 Chevy Silverado 5.3. For last 4 years.. Works great, but you should reset it once in a while. Simply plug out, plug in..
Ok, Don bought it and likes it, so just ordered mine! Best part for me is I have a ‘24 Sierra 5.3 and a ‘24 Silverado 5.3, so I can move it from truck to truck! No more L9!!!
@@BR549_o7 not the one that plugs into the OBD that Don reviewed. For refresh it is the model that plugs into the ECM. I verified this with Range support.
If you don’t want to have lifter issues, you’re going to have to do a DOD/AFM delete. Even trucks built during the pandemic still have lifter issues. The only thing missing is the electronics. I had a 2022.5 Silverado 1500 with the 6.2. I didn’t use the truck much so I never had any issues with it. A year and a half later I sold it and purchased a 2024 Silverado 2500 LTZ Duramax. There are no fuel saving devices as it’s not EPA rated. So it should be a nice long lasting vehicle. Naysayers will say that the emissions systems will fail, but I don’t buy it. By the time it fails, I’ll be long gone.
Just looked it up for the 2023 Sierra 1500 truck (6.2L v8). Installation requires removing the driver wheel, wheel well liner, and installing it in-line with one of the ECM connectors. So zero chance of being able to simply remove it as wanted (like the pre-refresh trucks). IF it was as easy as you mentioned, I'd consider it. With this installation process, chances are low that I'll get one.
Pulsar LT is the way. I take it off before I get oil changes. The truck feels like there is something wrong with it when it's not installed. They advise that it does not leave a trace on your vehicle. The dealership has never mentioned anything to me about it.
Have you never gotten an odd warning or message displayed that you thought was just a fluke? For me it was service parking brake and some other sensor gladly forget but I dealt with random warning messages that went from maybe once a month to daily once it got worse even sending my pulsar in for warranty (nothing found wrong 😂) after about 10 months now without pulsar I'm having zero issues. Had to install a couple things to replace the features I wanted but those have never left me stranded... Until I could unplug the negative terminal of battery at least! Obviously you haven't dealt with the worst side of it but just curious if pulsar owners are getting random warning messages they don't attribute to the pulsar and just assume it's a fluke 🤷♂️
@_____mh I've never had any codes other than the open and close window thing which has only popped up if my battery has been disconnected. I've had zero issues with the truck while running the Pulsar. Some people worry about fuel efficiency but I still get the same bald eagles/Budweiser with the Pulsar.
Curious if the range module for the refresh has parasitic loss. It plugs directly into the ecm and is way more of a job to install as the ecm is located behind the wheel well.
According to Range Technology the Pulsar LT does not leave any type of footprint on the PCM or ECM. With both of these units the only issue is emissions testing, you may need to disconnect them a few days prior to testing because they both disable some of the internal/automatic vehicle testing and this will show up during the emissions testing. With it unplugged the vehicle returns to the automatic testing within a couple of days of normal driving. Been using both of them in different vehicles I’ve lost about 1 mile per gallon on fuel efficiency, which to me is not a big deal knowing that my V8 stays a V8 at all times!!!
Nice Done! sounds good. I use the Pulsar LT on mine, it works good and love the Throttle Booster with on-the-fly Adjustment. did you checked out the Pulsar by any chance?
Hearing a lot of mixed opinions on going with the afm delete tool not really doing much to prevent a lift failure. Have a truck that has afm active and have been looking for ways to get rid of it without having to fully take apart the engine to DOD delete. It’s quite annoying the manufacturers genuinely put something that would cause more problems than they should. Been debating getting the device but now I’m at a bit of a cross road here.
I was in the same boat 2-3 years ago and just running in manual mode as a stop-gap measure. I contacted Range before my purchase since their website was now claiming 10 speed transmission compatibility for 2021 and the 6.2. It seems to be working for me. I ordered it on Amazon so I could return it if it didn’t seem to work. Of course nothing short of internal part replacement fixes the bigger issue.
it does leave a footprint just not in the way you think. The dealer will do a deep computer scan and see that something was plugged into the OBD2 slot right before engine failure.
Confused that you say the Pulsar leaves a trace. One of Holley's big claims when releasing it was that it does not leave any trace. It's function is supposed to be an inline module that intercepts and changes signals in real time, no over-writing of ECM. That said, I had engine failure earlier this year (spun crank bearings). While waiting for a tow I removed the Pulsar and tucked it under the back seat. Got to the dealer and they ran diagnostics, no codes or anything of interest they said. If there is a trace left their diagnostics don't pick it up. Engine was replaced under warranty. I should add that I always disconnect the negative battery terminal before installing or removing the Pulsar, per Holley's instructions.
I had the famous lifter failure at 30k miles. Removed my Pulsar LT and everything (cam shaft, lifters) was replaced under warranty. No trace of the Pulsar.
The DFM system is the same but mine is more audible due to the Borla exhaust. The newer models like yours use a different part number to disable it. It also involves more to install unfortunately.
Just plugged mine in, 23’ AT4 with the 6.2. Light blinked and flashed. There is no steady light and the auto start/stop was still lit on my console. Can I assume mine is a dud?
hey don does the disabler shut off the auto stop start light for yours? I got one for my 2019 gmc sierra 5.3 but the auto stop button is still illuminated when it is plugged in
I did. There is a difference unfortunately. Not plug and play and based on what some people are saying, it might only work while accelerating but allow DFM at times when decelerating. Just what I have been told and read. I don’t know for sure. The install not very difficult, just not as convenient as the OBD2 plug
@@daveatkins4022 *Some vehicles may still engage 0-cylinder mode while coasting with this product installed. During extensive testing, it was found that completely disabling this function led to undesirable driving conditions and safety concerns. Disabling 0-cylinder mode while coasting resulted in a notable decrease in fuel efficiency, with a loss of 2-3 MPG, as the engine continues to fuel and fire the injectors even during coasting. This fueling also creates an unsettling sensation during deceleration, as it feels like the vehicle is still accelerating slightly, despite 0% throttle input. This requires harder braking, especially in scenarios like towing or descending a long grade, leading to undesirable driving conditions.
I own a 21 sierra 5.3 10speed i bought this device around 18 month ago My experience was i have to exceed 40mph then its deactivating the dfm if i keep driving with liw speeds it will keep on shaking or jerking trying to engage disengage the system. So from what u have right now is it working from the start up immedietly?
No I haven’t. The C8 has AFM only in some of the drive modes and the R007B that I have on the Sierra isn’t compatible. I drive the C8 in manual almost always which completely disables AFM too. Track mode will do the same.
I would love to see you actually do the DFM/DOD delete with proper lifters and cam replacmen. Also I was told my warranty was void because I do my own oil changes and don't have work orders stating my oil was changed even tho I do keep a log book. So I am curious if you do your own oil changes. I am town between trading in, (I have a bit of positive equity) or just keeping it till the wheels fall off. It's not paid off so I'd be torn if the thing kicked the bucket while still under payments.
@@BR549_o7 that's exactly what I thought. It's up to them to prove damage is done by lack of oil not for me to prove that I've done them. Is it not? The DFM system is the same but mine is more audible due to the Borla exhaust. The newer models like yours use a different part number to disable it. It also involves more to install unfortunately.
Just plugged mine in, 23’ AT4 with the 6.2. Light blinked and flashed. There is no steady light and the auto start/stop was still lit on my console. Can I assume mine is a dud?
It is a different product if you have the refresh model.
This is spoken about in the video and captured in the video description too
@ thank you. I must of breezed over that part out of excitement to finally rid myself of those pointless features lol
do u know if Amazon sells the most updated parts? or should I buy directly from their website?
Which CTEK charger you use?
This one for my GMC Sierra, Cadillac Escalade and C8 Corvette: amzn.to/3CS73He
Make sure to select the right setting depending on battery type
so can the DFM cause the injectors to clog, especially if you do city driving only?
Does the 3.0 LZO have cylinder deactivation? I just got a 2024 AT4. Thanks
Nope. You are in the clear! 😊
@@Donslife Thank you. God is good 🙌🏼
Oh OK I will let you know
Would this void warranty and would I just leave it plugged into my truck or do I unplug it once I turn it off
Obviously you don’t buy a truck for fuel economy but does running on all 8’s using the DFM disabler reduce MPG?
I touch on this in the video near the end. So far no measurable change from my experience
I tried 2 AMF deletes from Range in my 2021 High country 6.2. 10speed transmission , no luck had to return them
hey don does the disabler shut off the auto stop start light for yours? I got one for my 2019 gmc sierra 5.3 but the auto stop button is still illuminated when it is plugged in
Do the 2024 models have DFM on them? First time GM new vehicle buyer, should have done my homework! Thanks
did you look into Range Technology DFM Disabler Module GM 5.3L/6.2L Refresh - RA007? Any diffence?

I have the 2024 duramax 3.0. Does it work on my truck. Hate the annoying start stop
I’d check out Autostopeliminator.com
I own a 21 sierra 5.3 10speed i bought this device around 18 month ago
My experience was i have to exceed 40mph then its deactivating the dfm if i keep driving with liw speeds it will keep on shaking or jerking trying to engage disengage the system.
So from what u have right now is it working from the start up immedietly?
good question. Don could test this by hitting the auto start stop button at speeds under and over 40 mph.
Don, I have a 2020 GMC, Sierra 1500 Denali. How can I tell if it is AFM or DFM? I would like to try this mod.
It would be DFM on a 2020 5.3 and a 2020 6.2. Your window sticker would also list it as Dynamic Fuel Management
Hey Don! I have a couple of questions. Have you tried this AFM/DFM disabler on your C8? If so did you have any issues with it? Thanks
No I haven’t. The C8 has AFM only in some of the drive modes and the R007B that I have on the Sierra isn’t compatible. I drive the C8 in manual almost always which completely disables AFM too. Track mode will do the same.
@@Donslife Thanks for the info👍
Hey Don, do you think it will work on my '20 GMC 1500 5.3 10 speed?
Yes It should, I asked their tech dept specifically for the 10 speeds
@Donslife thank ya sir!
It's not paid off so I'd be torn if the thing kicked the bucket while still under payments.
if you have the receipts for the oil and the filters GM can't deny warranty. If they do, fight them, as that is illegal.
@@BR549_o7 that's exactly what I thought. It's up to them to prove damage is done by lack of oil not for me to prove that I've done them. Is it not? I am a license heavy equipment tech and I've rebuilt a number of engines for our work crummys like 2.8l duramaxs I probably know more than those tards at gm service departments. Number one thing is I'd say about them is they lack compassion for their customers and just want you to trade in ur vehicle for another piece of garbage.
Not seeing any info if this will work on 23 gmc 1500 Denali 5.3 l v8
Their website lists their new version (not OBD2 interface)

I've been looking for a HD gasser to get away from dfm.
Can’t blame you
Unfortunately these will not keep your lifter or rockers from failing.
It will keep them working for longer time thats for sure
@@ahmedalqallaf7436Not true. Lots of failures with this attached. Unfortunately.
GM needs to remove the hardware. Software will not remove it.
GM is working on a new engine design for 2026.
I had a range technology on mine and I had lifter failure
@@hesstribewhat vehicle?
Man you channel cost me a lot of money 😂. There goes another $200.
I paid $300 Canadian 😔
Get 6.6 liter 2500hd gas burner
🔥
will this work on a 2023 denali 6.2?
This specific one doesn’t work on the refreshed models
$80-$100K trucks and SUVs with known valvetrain engineering flaws continuing to be sold. It's bad business.
I have one for sale if anyone wants it.. i sold my gasser for a diesel so i dont need it anymore
Because they paid you to tell people it’s good. Don’t ever put one of these in your vehicle.
I bought this myself. This is not a sponsored item or video. Please don’t make assumptions
Nice work! Bringing you ‘A’ game!
