As I recall Robert saying about Lonesome Dove, his character was killed off leaving no chance for him to do another movie. Not knowing the popularity of the series that followed, it hurt him more and probably left a sour taste in his mouth. In my opinion it was his finest roll.
Lonesome Dove is arguably the best Western of all time. My wife and I have watched it over and over. Open Range is another great movie. How about Second Hand Lions?? You missed a bunch!!
