Demonstrating the Delko Zunder Drywall Banjo

- I demonstrate how to use one of my favourite tools. If you're thinking of taping your own basement, I'd invest in the Zunder. Even if you're going to use it once or twice you can always resell it.
1. I am not getting paid for this and this is not a sponsored post.
2. I am not a taper by trade but I am a contractor.
3. I'm sorry for showing so much of my underwear.
Thanks for watching! - Навчання та стиль
I’m an electrician by profession
Trim carpenter by choice
Remodeler by happiness
Drywall taper by reluctance
Just bought this tool and can’t wait to try it.
Thanks for the education
Taping...not my favourite but for this one it was a favour for a friend.
My zunder works really well with Fibafuse tape. (I want to try mine next with the Fibafuse MAX, but its out of stock where I normally buy). I run it with "thin" Sheetrock 90, making sure to break it down and clean it out before the mud starts to set up, otherwise the clean-up is brutal in the nooks and crannies. Last friend I helped do reno's we had this going, and a "TapeBuddy" dispenser for the small pieces. I wish I had bought the zunder a few projects ago.
I don't use it as much but it's a much more fun application than hand taping.
Been a finisher for 20 years. Wipe those tapes with a 6”. Helps fill in the recess on the seams. But was thinking about picking this up for small stuff to mess with. I’m usually running the tube and boxes
Between this and a "TapeBuddy" for the small pieces, it sure makes taping a lot less messy. (I use Fibafuse with Sheetrock90 hot mud to reduce downtime and reduce shrinkage)
As a taper, it makes more sense to have a bazooka. But as a companion to do small jobs in between bigger ones it could be pretty handy. That way, you wouldn't have to bring everything with you. It's a thought.
@@VC-Toronto there's no glue in quick set mud? You must get a ton of call backs
@@wadeh777 Never had a taped seam with SheetRock 90 fail.
Lol! Not only a helpful video, but a humble one too!
Thank you! 👍
Thanks man. Glad you appreciated it.
i guess Im kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Lochlan Abdullah I use FlixZone. You can find it on google :)
My boss is a spackle guy around 8 years and he take half day taping a room 10 × 10 and he always says to me, that I wil be like him someday, 😂😂 well the fact I bought all my combo today, (delko taping tool, flusher, mud tube, inside corner and inside corner roller and drywall sander) cuz I want start by my own, I'm from NY, good video man 👌👌I'll learn too.
Good for you! It's a skill we need more of.
Great video!
Great tool! I love it.
thank u my man
just bought one today
Glad I could help. Did you get the kit with the blade and the mixer or just the tool?
I am like you, a renovator. I bought this and loved it too! However, the cleaning was a bit slow. I now use a columbia mud tube, inside roller and flusher.
I would consider that a serious upgrade. How do you find it?
For me, I do so little mudding and taping now since we sub it out that adding tools doesn't make sense...that hasn't stopped me but it's something that probably should.
I really like it. Taping inside corners and flats are way easier. I only use fiba fuse for the flats. Very strong and thin.
@@pwowk we got a 10" and 12" tape tech flatbox a while back. There's something really satisfying about taping and mudding.
Being good at it...that's a different story.
@@basementcoach I have a 12 in box, but I am not great at it yet. I agree, I like taping and mudding. The guys that work for me like electrical and plumbing and leave the drywall taping and mudding to me!
Columbia 42-in mud tube is awesome, I use a 3 1/2 in anglehead with it works great, does take a little practice though
잘봤습니다.
실력이 좋으세요!
Thank you for watching!
Good review. Nice boxers too.
Thank you sir. I only share them with special people.
Suspenders and a belt. Dickies makes wonderful suspenders.
I’ve put on a few pounds during lock down. Don’t need a belt or suspenders. Need new pants...
So you do all wall joints before ceilings and corner's.
I typically do my flats before corners. But for this job there was no ceiling to do. My buddy did a suspended ceiling system.
Nice ❤
It’s made the small amount of taping I do so much easier.
Mine keeps pulling the tape and hard to run the tape does that mean the muds too thick
I would say that's the first place I would start.
@@basementcoach it was the back tape pulley was tightened all the way down
How does it compare to a regular aluminum banjo?
This is the only banjo I've ever tried. I'd never even heard of one before I saw them on UA-cam. Wish I could help but this is all I got...
I bought this and as a guy who runs the banjo often you will hate this tool has a extremely serious flaw
Geez, what's the flaw you've run into?
We've been using it frequently but we also run a bazooka depending on the job. We're looking at getting a banjo with a cutter on it.
I'm not a occasional taper it's all I do everyday. Any everyday taper will immediately hate this thing
I strictly board and tape these days. It's effective for smaller jobs but not having a cutter tool for the inside corners is a negative for this tool. It takes practice and even then it's sometimes annoying. But I'm 6'3" I can usually get the ceiling from the ground. My partner is...shorter shall we say. So he will run the bazooka if he's alone.
@@wadeh777 but you're right, a taper will not use one of these to do a house.
I just got one, , amazing for speed,, got 40 sheets,,, 2 hours, did all the flats, walls and ceilings,,, now for corners,, like you said,, i was playing with it for about 30 minutes,, but got rolling,,,,, i wear track pants, just as bad for butt crack,,, but I'm not on video lol
Track pants are for after work.
I generally do a lot of ladder work,, track pants better for flexibility,,, pants after work,,, if I'm socializing,,,, but lately,, just track pants 24/7,,,,,,,corners went awesome,,, flats on ceiling,, a little more difficult,, got a much on me as ceiling lol
@@patdziob4505 my last set of ceiling flats were ok. I didn't prefill so I had a couple of bubbles. I did get a 10" and 12" flat box since we're having trouble getting tapers for small to medium jobs. I never thought I would be doing so much taping...
@@basementcoach yea i had small basement i framed and drywalled, about 40 sheets,, couldn't find anyone to do it,,, tooo small,,, i can tape,, but i don't like it,, tedious and time consuming,, but here I am,,,, playing taper lol
@@patdziob4505 I know the feeling. We may have found a guy to do small drywall jobs. It might be easier to find the holy grail.
Where is the link you said you’re gonna leave
The link...right. Let me fix that. Will advise shortly.
I haven’t tried mine yet. Thanks for the review. Feeling a bit guilty buying it tho. It’s made in China.
Hope you enjoy it!
I had the homax 6500... Worked great..i also dropped mine off a ladder and broke off the wheel...so don't drop it...its plastic
It was a sad end to a great first day using it for me. Were you able to get spare parts for it easily?
I'm a contractor a builder carpenter a taper a mover and shaker we wear many hats my friend
I usually wear hats because my head gets cold. It happens more when you have no hair and live in Canada.
@@basementcoach lol oh nooo I'm going the same route my hairlines running as we speak lol
It happens. It's started to grow back...on my ears. Getting old is so awesome!
The reason why you won't find a solid mudder for cheap is because us mudders don't like doing another's job
It's an artform that is VERY undervalued. God bless those who do it. Just the basic math of what a fair wage is doesn't compute for most people. Take into account the skill and expertise tapers have for something so difficult and it's never inexpensive. If anything, I'll be teaching my sons to board and tape...or getting them jobs with someone who REALLY knows how to do it.
You look like a taper; including the undies... But, seriously, no blade to cut the tape? Every other banjo type I've seen has a blade. The corner roller usefulness is debatable. Good vid though.
I'm pretty slow running tapes by hand so it's been great for me. The no blade is not the greatest thing but I think it's because the head is interchangeable and does both flats and corners. Integrating a cutter for each might be a bit complicated but what do I know...
Made in china
Maybe one day they will start making stuff on this side of the ocean again. #amazon
sorry but i prefer to use my super tapper;)
If it works for you, git'er done!
