    This proves to me that music is your passion and it doesn’t matter what your method is it creates interesting results that come from your soul. Thanks for posting I shall try this way as I have written some lyrics but never matched them to melodies I have written.

    I have never written like this before. I always start with melody FIRST and then FIND the lyrics that fit it perfectly. This to me is like how A famous sculptor once said when asked how does he make such beautiful marble statues. He said I see the statue inside the block and just remove what is not the statue. So the sculptor starts with the statue already in his head. That's how I write songs. I start with the melodies and then let the perfect lyrics just fall into place. If it doesn't fit perfectly then its not for this melody. :-) The method in this video, to me, seems so more challenging and you are not really guaranteed to have an amazing melody. All great songs, ALL of them, the best of all time, all have amazing melodies. But I respect this method and will do it one day just to feel it out. Thanks for sharing it.

    • @RansbyJohan

      Well why aren't you guaranteed to have an amazing melodi this way? :) What you describe is one way yes, but I don't believe in doing music in one way, I believe in always finder new methods to challenge my self with, I believe music is about exploring and experimenting :) Can I hear your music? :)

      This also makes more sense to me since sometimes I feel like melodies transmit more emotions than words, therefor melodies have priority over lyrics. But sometimes you come up with some lyrics and you dont have a melody yet. This method would be very helpful for those moments. Also everyones brain works differently.

      There is no right or wrong...for me, lyrics come easy, I have loads of song lyrics written. Once I'm happy with a piece, I find it very easy to head to the piano or pick up a guitar and write a melody. Trying to write lyrics that fit over a melody is way too restrictive for me.

    I think the most interesting results come from chord substitutions in your progression and the melody incorporating the new note that is not in the scale. At least one of those chords somewhere in your progression (perhaps toward the end of cycle, like a Picardy Third) or prior to a change or section.

I was always freestyling on a beat and hope for the best, and that just didn't work well for me. Oh my gosh what you came up with in this video is just so beautiful and eerie! In the best way! 😍 what program (may I ask) do you use to put your Melodies together? I’m a singer and a I’m at a point where I’ve got a lot of songs that I’ve been working on (just lyrics and rhythm/vocal melodies) but as much as I’ve gone back and forth (like a stubborn mule) to play guitar, read sheet music, it just isn’t my Neash (however you spell it… let’s just go with forte). I have a good ear for music, pitch , all that singer stuff but until I can possibly find and pay a composer to collaborate with in bringing together the instrumentals, I feel like I’m kind of stuck working on all these songs and my agency won’t accept a demo that’s just an arrangement of acapella and making strange sounds effects to mimic instruments and level changes… so I dunno I can at the very least try the technology approach since it seems like you can see the sounds as you’re making them 🙂 if that makes sense. Anyway hopefully lemme know which one you’re using. Or which one you’d generally recommend 🙂

      Hello, from Barcelona. I love this video and was about to ask about the program. Is super cool because is like your are writing over the piano notes which is mapping or helping you to map the melody in your mind. I have similar voice and my style is almost the same. I write more than I record because I don’t understand a lot of the technologies today. I am 32 but is full of programs and a lot of things. I use garage band but I don’t know how to open the pentagrama for voice Melody and move it like around the stairs just like you. Lovely song.

    I make the melody first and build everything around, making the counter part the lead melody, in that way I know how to compose sounds around it without clashing frequencies...
    Only if you know or practice But i think instead of puttin note by note you can play with the set of notes several possibal ways in the scale to match exactually wat was in your head...
    In my opinion this way is only good for making slow jam or RnB and more harmonic songs but for fast beat or funky and more rhythmic songs you can create beats and apply your melody..because in rhythm melody flows nicely when there is not much chord change ..

    • @RansbyJohan
      @RansbyJohan  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for your comment! 😊
      I think we have different approaches when it comes to music, I don’t try to do what’s in my head, I try to expand from what’s in my head- What’s in my head is mostly my habits, and why do what you already do when there are so many other options. I also don’t use scales for making music, unless I’m learning a new color 😊
      I know for a fact that this method can help you to get outside your comfort zone/habits, no matter what genre, and you can write uptempo, advanced and easy music with this- This is about doing it slowly so you get to do what you truly like the most, not just what your habits are dictating you to doo. But try it out and let me know what you think? 😊

    Hello. I need help. Do chorus and verses have any melodic relation or you just write them in different melodies?

    • @RansbyJohan
      @RansbyJohan  3 роки тому +2

      I like to work with contradictions, if my verse is fast, then I would make a slow chorus(at least try it out) if legato make staccato, if low pitched then do high pitched and so on, but there are no rules- besides that it should make you feel excited :) Write 5 melodies and choose the two you like the most :)

      @Annie-bf9ic 3 роки тому

      @@RansbyJohan thank you so much! So you mean that there is literally no melodic relation between verse and chorus? Like pop songs,,, do they just create two melodies which are totally different sounding from each other and then put one of them in a verse and the other in chorus.... Did i get it right? Does it break any rules of music if there is no melodic relation between verse and chorus?

    • @RansbyJohan
      @RansbyJohan  3 роки тому

      @@Annie-bf9ic There are only one rule which is, if it sounds good it is good- so yes you don't brake any rules by putting two melodies together as long as you like how it sounds :) And make sure to make a lot of songs instead of focusing all of your energy in to your first song. It's like riding the bike, you only start to make tricks when you're solid at biking forward, so finish a lot of songs, and learn from each of the songs :)

    • @RansbyJohan
      @RansbyJohan  10 місяців тому

      There are no other rules than choosing what excites you.
      There are a lot of misconceptions about you having to use theory to choose notes, but theory only explains what the function and relations are, and theory will tell you that you can use all 12 different notes with all chords:)
      Theory is like a navigation system, it can tell you what you did, or how to come to a specific place, but it can't tell you where you want to go or where to go to make you happy :)
      Theory can tell you how to copy a song or tell you that you used a dominant 7th chord, but it can't tell you what you like or what will make you happy :)

    I write lyrics, but have no way to turn them into music, and I don't sing. I've put my lyrics to music and vocals through an AI program. My problem is with the perception of using AI. The lyrics are 100% mine. If I use AI to get the music and vocals and present it as a DEMO, I don't see the problem. I take my lyrics, put AI music and vocals, hand that to a live person, who takes it an puts his voice and his instruments to it, snd all of a sudden it's not AI. I think of it as AI inspired. When I write, I have a preconceived idea of what the song sounds like in my head. Using AI doesn't necessarily produce what I had envisioned. I'm very confused about the whole AI issue.
