the NFL is a private marketing American franchise. while in Rugby, they have a World Cup, where lots of different countries play.
Just wait until its becomes global you might think it wont but i will 100% say it will watch..
and football is still more popular lol Everyone around the globe watches the Super Bowl.
People watch the super bowl to watch the ads, which are generally fucking hilarious, but there really aren’t many people outside America who will ever have any intention to start properly playing American footie, because there is just no way to do it, there pretty much aren’t any clubs, especially at small child level, which is the best time to start playing a sport, especially one like American football, which is so infuriatingly confusing. And it would be very difficult to start a club, as first of all there aren’t much in the way American football pitches around, and many large grassy areas within suburban environments are already taken for use as something else, and secondly, there really aren’t any retailers who would be selling all the gear-of which there is a ridiculous amount. And then, even if by some miracle, a few people set up clubs and somehow got enough people to join and coach, the problem then is that there wouldn’t be even vaguely enough clubs in any one area to start competitive , Low level leagues, which are the backbone of any sport, and besides that, most people in other countries who are into team contact sports are either into one of the rugbies, or something else entirely, rather than American football. Both rugby and American football are growing in countries other than those where they are the status quo, but they are definitely growing slower Than for example basketball, which has skyrocketed in international popularity. But as far as I can tell, rugby seems to be growing a bit faster than American footie, perhaps just due to slightly better let’s say, “ease of access”
Thee Oneee Noee32
As far as i know there aren't alot of countries that play Rugby professionally in a league like in the Rugby world cup and Six Nations Championships, those are the only two that i know of and to even play in the World cup you need to qualify to be in it.
rugby championship
africa gold cup and silver cup
americas cup
pacific rugby challenge
pro 14
superrugby
and many other tournaments exist. some are small and some teams still amateurish, but they are out there.
At least the rugby one was actually real
YEAH MATE
It wasn't actually. It's all fake.
Lmao the rugby one was fake too
***** They were both fake idiot.
***** *You're
American Football made in 1869. Rugby made in 1823. Please stop the arguments on which was first.
I read that football came 10 years after Rugby, so one or both of us is wrong.
Was that on Wikipedia
Grady Wilcox your correct the first game british isles and cape africa or something played the game was before 1930 and webb Ellis the person who created rugby picked up the football ball(soccer) and ran with it then rules and etc where made. Also football(American) as well all know is based of rugby nothing to be ashamed of thou and no shame over calling football soccer
18tangles *NO WAY*
Lol I’m so freaking surprised
Rugby Football originated in the 1830's and the Rugby clubs refused to join The Football Association (Soccer) when it was established in 1863 (which differed massively from modern Soccer).
Melbourne Football Club was established in 1858, birthing Australian Rules Football.
Canadian Football was first played in 1861 (as far as we're aware).
American Football was first played in 1869, but differed massively from the modern game.
Caid isn't necessarily older than Football elsewhere - it's simply because there hasn't been any schism in Gaelic Football that they haven't had to say 'our sport was formed on X date.'
Anyway, American and Canadian Football owe everything they have to Soccer and Rugby... and no, Soccer hasn't always been the way it is now.
People here talking of which sport is better than the other... my 2 cents???... I watch both from my couch. Because I can’t play either. Now you know.
gblaze83 ok cool
American football takedowns = rams running into each other full speed.
Rugby takedowns = 2 prides of lions trying to kill each other on discovery channel.
Lmao couldn't have said it better
A group of lions is called a pride mate.
What about the passing? And blocking?
lions don't fight en masse
Well Said, Mate!!!
the funniest thing about this debate is that the players probabaly dont even care. just the fans who ummmm probably wouldnt last 10 minutes in either code buahahahahahahah
Thank you lol because the players don't give a shit they get paid.
Jack Quirk I am English and I would hate to get hit by a 300lb defensive linemen
Buahahahahaha!😂😂😂😂👍
The correct answer
Jack Quirk a helmet actually hurts a lot worse. And the players are bigger in the NFL. People would die in the NFL if they played glorified pickem up bust em up.
I have a better video editor than all of them, pick me, Paul Sack.
cocks and ball
Ball sack?
😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Just to be clear the ABs were not making fun of football.
2:18 when he says "check this out" I thought big deal you can run backwards.
erati I thought he was gonna try run into the car or some shit 🤦🏼😂
Nfl wouldn't exist without rugby.
Don't misunderstand me, I love both sports. But that's a fact.
+Seo Young 서영 literally doesn't mean shit
victor pena what?
+Seo Young 서영 I agree
FOOTBALL likely evolved from the archaic game of rugby.
BTW, not sure what position the rugby players play, but they are tiny compared to an NFL LB
+phpeters87 Rugby players are small compared to NFL players, but trust me, Rugby players are more aggressive than NFL players. For example, one guy got a dislocated shoulder in a rugby game, but they just popped it back in and played on like nothing had happened.
I played both sports while I was in high school and enjoyed both. But have to choose rugby as my favourite out of the 2 and this is a sport were I broke my nose and a few teeth in a nasty tackle 🤕 😂.
ouch.
Both are fantastic sports, and are hard to play and master
Rugby players would master that game easy. Only one is fantastic..the is 3 hours of anal fucking commercials interrupted by a one hour sport that only has eleven minutes of plays.
Dude this is based off things that actually happened. Rugby players took years to play football and only a handful actually made it to the league. Yeah you only watch NFL like every football hater haha. NFL isn't the only level of football dude. Plus thats only what you see. Stop being a hater, if you want to hate football play it first. Oh right you won't, even though you say it's a "pussy" sport. You're too scared to play it and will not would will come up with any excuse not to. As i said they're both great sports, stop being a hater plus everyone has different opinions anyway
Dude jumping through a car? I'm not talking about the video I'm talking the actual game of football. And you calling me names haha I guess. You do realize not everybody watches on tv, they watch the game live. Out of hundreds of people who grew up playing rugby who came to America and played football, a handful is not even half its barely even part of the ones who were, it's easy to hate something that you've never done. You do know the bulls are a basketball team right, by your statement you basically can take from it that football was so hard for him he switched sports. You only sit the sidelines if you don't start smart one. There's mang players who play the whole game non stop, but if course someone who hates football will only point out the ones that don't. Nope, I would love to try rugby though. But bases off what I've seen. Rugby is awesome but to aay football players can't play you obviously never played which is why you hate it so much. Running for 80 minutes dude we practice for 3 hours running full speed. The hard part no one gets to see, fans just get to see what you see
I'm not talking bout adults dudes. I'm talking how you know America has immigrants? That come from rugby playing countries? Yeah exactly, hundreds do start playing football once they get here. Dude you're just a football hater, just because they're big doesn't mean they can't run. But of course you're too busy hating football you don't pay attention to those things, also they're bigger than rugby players. Because rugby is built for endurance, football is built for power. Call them fat all you want but until, you've actually been on the field on the field with to see how quick they are and how hard they hit. You will never understand again if you don't play. You'll always be clueless. Of course you would say that, because you don't know why, because the only freaking thing you know is what you see on Tv. The games are nothing compared to what you do throughout the week. Which is why we say the real work comes when no one's looking throughout the week at practice, no one knows how much football players actually. Thus creating dumb people like you, who think they know everything when the only thing you ever saw was what was on Tv. So yes just stop talking. You're hating something you don't even understand that's what's wrong with the world now
Sure, let's see you master a play book with 1,000 offensive plays genius.
I bet you couldn't master the "route tree" in an entire off-season.
Fuckin' simplelton.
Rugby is Checkers.
NFL is World-Class Chess.
If anyone saw the Sports science episode of "Rugby vs American football. Just know that the guinea pigs thay used for rugby were tha L.A rugby club, Very far from a representative for top grade rugby, or even close to top grade.
Anybody with a brain knows that entire episode is a joke. Both arguements were terrible. Let's talk about the measurement of impact! Rugby: Two forces moving towards one another. Football: Once force moving towards an object not in motion. Do you think that would have any effect on the measurement?!
Played both sports, the arguement of which is tougher is completely void. They are both physical in their own way. It's like arguing who is a better runner; the sprinter or the marathoner.
BRETT JOHNSON All episodes of Sports Science are bogus.
Agreed
Comparing the two is an exercise in stupidity. American football is to rugby as the long jump is to the hurdles-American football players get everything done in one go then have a rest, and rugby players have to pace themselves a lot more and can't afford to go all out every single play (hence they don't wear 50lbs of equipment). The only difference I can see is that rugby is a more international sport with following all over the world-AF is trying to get into Britain but it's not there yet
this is seriously one of my favorite videos😂😂 It's crack up as
The tackles in rugby are hard but more tactical and more like a takedown in judo or martial arts than a straight up tackle. Yes, there are many hard tackles in rugby, but in American football, the players will just straight up slam into each other like two bulls, head to head on every single play.
petnzme01 No.
petnzme01 "brain damage was _invented_"
No. You stupid fuck.
petnzme01 No.
petnzme01 So I guess you believe in the inventions of contusions, lacerations, and cramps too huh.
petnzme01 Inventions have inventors, I'd be interested in finding out who the inventors are for all of the above. lol
These guys are just having fun...who would've thought people would get so worked up over guys having a bit of fun....two different sports that are both respected in their own right. I'm a kiwi raised on rugby and I think this is funny and just shows that no matter if its football or rugby these dudes have awesome skills!!!
Video was dope as fuck💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Rugby is a man's game. I played both sports competitively. Both are great games, but Rugby gets the upper hand.
Adidas should get Richie McCaw and Jimmy Graham together and do a series of videos of each athlete giving the other some lessons of their respective sports as a form of cultural exchange and to promote the brand.
Skill wise I give rugby but I don't think yall understand the footwork needed in football. Same with speed, a lot of nfl players are way faster than rugby players
@@fordastreeets8019 Both are hard but rugby is harder you need every skill to be perfect and you play a full 80 minutes and get hardly any rest while in nfl once a play is done you wait like 2 minutes just for the next play and you guys have a offence and a defensive team while in rugby only 1 team and 4 bench players rugby is way harder
@@ulaiamanu7500 playing football is hard too. Its literally chess, every position in football are experts of what they do. For example, one of the hardests is line backer, you have to memorize offensive and defensive formations, plays, signs, and much more. On top of that, you have to watch the QB and slants from the Tightends. Another hard position is cornerback, which I can gaurantee no rugby player can even guard a wide receiver because that is a cornerbacks job. And Cornerbacks are basically the same build as soccer players but slightly more bulky. Rugby players are too bulky to guard a wide receiver. BTW wide receivers have crazsy fast footwork, better than most soccer players. But a cornerbacks job is to guard the wide receiver (to prevent them from catching the ball). There is many more positions that have their own tasks as well. But All of that is happening in seconds before the next play. With a different play and formation
@@fordastreeets8019Thats what I sad to lol Nfl is hard but rugby is harder playing a 80 minute game you got to be fit way more fitter then nfl players i mean you could be the fattest nfl player and you still wont get tired but you got to be smart thats what nfl is its a smart game where you have to be smart but in rugby you got to be fit smart and have perfect technique even some former nfl players who switched to rugby have said that nfl is nothing rugby in nfl you dont get much time or opportunity to play because you have to keep switching between offence and defence while in rugby you can do both and its more fun and in rugby while your playing a full 80 fatigue will set in and play with your mind and your body and rugby players have to stay focused and everyone can actually touch the ball unlike the nfl only like 4 people can run the ball on every play and you dont even get tired wich sucks
I'd rather wear short shorts than wearing stockings in the field to play ball lol.
Justin Vann better than wearing them yoga pants lol
There called skins and rugby players wear them to but not the long ones
jack tuke 😂 you play a game of American football without pads then maybe you will see why they do wear them
jack tuke I wasn't even talking about that you talked about all the equipment they wear like the helmets shoulder pads etc and that's like saying footballers wear socks so there legs dont break when getting slide tackled so wym bro?
jack tuke in the nfl as far as I'm aware they only wear them because it's some of the stupid rules they put in cause In college football players dont wear them and I don't see how socks would stop you from breaking your legs. And with the football comparison I was saying that they wear them as part of uniform dont they? Not to protect there legs from damage like your saying rugby players do
“Do not try this unless you are an NFL athlete” I was unaware that playing NFL made you an expert at jumping through cars
And lots of ankle biting - to avoid hard hits.
The All Blacks are, over their history of more than 100 years, *the* most successful national team of any country in any sporting code.
There's a very good reason for it.
SuperUFB erm your counting out South Africa bro
What about South Africa? What happen?
Joe Roux England lol
Ollie Rupprecht ag no England fell out the box a long time ago.
We have the most cups shared with The Blacks.
Surely the most successful is the US with their baseball world series. They win every time.
Hi I’m Korg I’m kind of the leader ‘round here
ya dont need to be afraid of me, unless your made of scizzaz
After getting more into rugby and a couple other sports, i now realize how shit the NFL is. It takes 3 and a half hours to play a 1 hour game, out of that the ball is only being played 11 minutes. Flags being thrown for every little thing. Commercials after every drive, timeout, injury, even after kickoffs. Now I understand why Europeans make fun of it so much
I'm american you idiot
I didn't even put that dip shit yank
Lol you a mad dumb yank?
You IQ through out your life will probably be averaged at 9/11
Well at least you have the intelligence to correct yourself
Thank you for elevating the standard of conversation here in a most elegant debate gentleman. I feel priveleged.
NFL is like playing paintball with a bullet proof vest.
Tbf though the hits in nfl are harder because they're in armour and the rules allow for some dangerous shit we'd not allow in rugby
Lol you are aware nfl players have to wear pads and helmets for safety rather Than bc we want to look at the 1950's we play just as hard without helmets and pads on
You've obviously never played real football with pads on. I've never played rugby but I'm sure its tough.
That is a completely stupid reference. That's like saying that u cant get injured in a car crash because ur protected by metal. clearly u have no comprehension of how force works.
People get injured with protection, hence why there have been so many cases of past players with brain damage from so many concussions.
Its thanks to rugby that american football exists and the rugby is not fake trust me
None of it is fake
White Lynx NFL = 💩
White Lynx football was created after the civil war in order to keep American boys 'tough' while not in a time of combat as an almost gladiator type sport, it is in no way related to rugby besides the shape of the ball
It obviously was though buddy. Rugby was invented in 1823 and American football in 1869, you think the dude who invented american football just though off the whole idea with no inspiration or getting basics off another sport? Obviously Rugby was used as the template.
"The rules were based largely on the Rugby Football Union's code "
Football was invented in 1876 by Walter Camp, a Yale undergraduate, who based his new American Football off of association football and rugby.
I never played rugby, but I did play American football and soccer (football) I do think that training/practice is harder in American football. However, when it comes to actually playing the game, I do think soccer and rugby are harder. From what I seen in rugby it's non stop like soccer, which I like about rugby. There are no reviews, time outs, or commercial breaks. That's probably major complaint as a fan of the NFL, it shouldn't take 3 hours to play a 1 hour game.
kxsoldier They are reviews in Rugby, overseen by the television match official. The referee decides on whether to review a disputed try or point scored. If the NFL eliminates the commercial breaks, games would be trimmed down to 2.5 hours or less, squeezing three matches on Sunday afternoon, eight available per week. More football. That's something the fans would like and would definitely increase popularity worldwide. Need ad space? Put decals on helmets and game uniforms. We don't need commercials.
Christian Mills I played both. Football practice, training yes harder than soccer. Actually playing the game, soccer is harder, no stoppages, no time outs, rarely any subs. I was outside linebacker, besides reading the plays and getting the tackles (which is hard) I wasn't really that tired because of all the stoppages and timeouts. I wasn't on offense so I just sat and waited until it was the defense's time to go on the field. I was striker in soccer and I did more. Plus you can't use your hands, controlling a ball with your feet is not easy. I ain't shitting on football, I like it as well but in my experience, I was much more tired in practice than I would be a game. Hardest thing about football is being the quarterback (a position I would never want to be)
David C See soccer needs to copy Rugby about the reviews. I like American Football but I hate watching it because it takes too dam long. Take out commercials and the 2 minute warning, it be better.
I'm not even going to bother with this. SOCCER HAS ALMOST NO CONTACT IN IT, THEREFORE IT CAN"T BE HARDER!
Christian Mills Put you're constant moving, its a game of endurance and stamina There are NO timeouts or breaks, you do everything on the field, no such thing as "special teams". I just played defense, had one job and never once was I tired. Thats what I mean by harder to play than football.
The only difficult positions are the QB, running back, wide recievers, other than that, not so hard.
NFL players are different to rugby, they've been trained for football not rugby so you cannot compare them. Rugby players would be hopeless in football and football players would be hopeless at rugby.
no no, they did this awhile back where rugby players played gridiron against a college team, and same with the college team playing rugby, the result was the rugby players weren't that great at the high jumps and takes, being dominated in that aspect, but fucked them up in tackles and defense where the gridiron college team couldn't even last the games because they said it was to full on... hahaha
Jesus Christ
Can you tell me where I can find the vid? What's the title?
Jesus Christ and that rugby team was pefessional I would assume ,our pros would send yall to the sideline with our cheerleaders
Y'all need to rethink rugby is men lifting each other off the ground
Football we hit not lift
matthew leija haha ok what ever makes you sleep better at night
just admit football is the dominant sport
Why can't we just appreciate both sports? I play rugby and I LOVE the game of football. They're two different sports, guys. One is not better than the other.
Are sensible people like u still alive??All I can see is People hating sports which they don't watch and there is no such thing like a "better sport" ...All sports have their own charm and attraction
rugby is life
Rugby is not life
life is rugby
And it is far superior
Get off your high horse
Yup lol only America plays football i wonder why it hasn’t caught on anywhere else 😂
The level of fitness in rugby is far greater than the NFL will ever be
And you know because you train with both leagues?
@@MrSITCHris i played rugby after after college football and was not prepared to run around the field for 80 minutes. I had to really improve my cardio.
Andrew Sheridan was the most legendary rugby player in the gym, and Larry Allen could out bench him by about 150lbs. They train for different things, a good football player and good rugby player could do the other sport. To quote moff Tarkin "this bickering is pointless"
Exactly, you proved my point anarobic is not very good fitness. You could hold your breath and actually execute a play. The average time spent with the body in motion in football is about 12 minutes. Rugby you move for 80. Also no fat lineman in rugby
@Jim Talking about uneducated... It's clear you get an education yourself, somehow stating that he's the reason why American universities are better... Which makes no sense at all. Next time, try to actually have some sort of structure to your sentences. From reading your shit show of an "educated" paragraph, pretty blatantly obvious you googled the terms for the sake of arguing. Utter moron.
Also, like it or not, NFL is much less physical. Oh, they train for short bursts? So do most Rugby players. They practice for short bursts and endurance. If you knew the rules of both sports, you'd know damn well which one is more physically demanding.
Also, you're having a laugh, thinking all NFL guys are 7ft+ whilst the rugby players are midgets. You're actually a giant moron for thinking so. Goes to show how "educated" you really are.
ALL of these were great and a lot of fun, great sense of humor.
For those of you in the "rugby is so badass because it has no pads" crowd... read this:
In rugby, there has been 18 deaths worldwide over about 190 years so less than one every ten years.
In 1905, before the rule changes that led to protective gear, there were 19 deaths that year alone in College Football and there have been some 13,000 deaths related to Gridiron in the last 140 years
That just means you tackle like retards not your sport is harder
rugby is more entertaining than football,no stoppages, two minute warnings,time-outs and commercials.
Watching Rugby here in the US has commercials. But either way, I find Football more entertaining for the same reasons you stated it's less entertaining. If I want to see endurance, I'll watch soccer; if I want to see hard hits I'll watch Football. Trying to be the best in 2 worlds just makes you second on both. And soccer sucks anyway, so just lose the endurance part and make the game more exciting.
This was entertaining. Well back to work.
I don't really see how the rugby players made fun of the NFL players. Still, that was an amazing show of skill from all of them. Impressive!
I don't see the all blacks "making fun" of NFL videos. Also, those NFL videos are pretty impressive and the guys show skills. Im a fan of rugby tho, I find NFL games too long and they stop the timer all the time, switch players all the time, no wonder a NFL player will hit much harder, they spend a lot of time resting, a rugby player gotta keep a constant pace, so they can't spend too much energy every time they go for a tackle. IMO NFL is more about explosive moments where players give everything they got, hence why they wear pads, they would be killing each other if they didn't wear them. Rugby is more about endurance, lighter tackles, because otherwise they wouldn't be able to play the whole game, also, tackle restrictions make rugby a lot less violent than NFL, no doubt. To me, it's like comparing a marathon runner to a 100m runner.
You know that These NFL Videos are fake, right?
Lighter tackles🤣
It's the exact same except no highs, no slams and no protection
The comparison between a to b when it comes to sports is ridiculous. Who cares who gets hit more? Who cares who gets paid more? Who cares which is better? All of our opinions are subjective, and trying to force them on somebody and prove they're wrong is just dumb as all hell. All of you seem to have this bias opinion that the sport you love is superior and then you throw in stereotypes tied to whatever country the sport represents and say those stereotypes are relevant. Yes, I'm American, and honestly I prefer American Football. It's just more fun to watch and play in MY OWN OPINION. I respect other sports, such as Soccer(Football), Rugby, Baseball, hell even Cricket. They're all sports and all requires skill.
That is all I have to say.
you bloody legend
Well said. We are all fans of the sports we have grown up with and love. A true sports fan appreciates the different skills and attributes that are required to play different sports and the dedication of top athletes who have reached the pinnacle of their chosen sport. With that being said AFL (Australian Rules Football) wins hands down for me.
Yea the whole choosing sides thing is stupid, I grew up playing football and I love it. I just started getting into rugby as well amd guess what...I love it. Both are awesome
I totally agree. But I nevertheless have serious issues with two sports. (1) Curling, and (2) Darts.
Even cricket?!!!
One of all time favourite video
Everything about that was amazing. The NFL guys and the rugby guys.
Its funny. Kids in New Zealand play rugby with protective means but they take them off as they grow up. Whereas, in somewhere over the rainbow, people go the opposite way. So sad
Why sad?
Van Vu im from New Zealand and we just got to suck it up if u cant handle it then dont play.
Van Vu the kids who end up being pro rugby players don't need pads as kids, because they dominate the other kids.
+tyrone brightwell that's why soccer is still popular.... for those guys who find rugby just too hard and would rather roll around on the ground crying for their tampons anytime they get touched.
I play both sports and I think they are both amazing. Here's my take on the subject. No matter what you say, American football hits are going to be harder. I know from experience. People who have never played American football immediately think "oh they are pussies for wearing pads" but in my opinion the pads actually made it more dangerous. People don't hold back in football. Your number one priority is to totally demolish and destroy your opponent. And let me tell you, getting blindsided by a football player is one of the most painful things in sports. Your vision gets blurry, it is hard to breathe, you can barely stand. Rugby on the other hand is a lot more tiring. You need loads of stamina. Yes the hits can hurt sometimes but the hits have more technique as you don't want to hurt yourself. It is more of a wrap and slam. They are a bit softer but I can tell you it hurts like hell to get slammed on your back around 50 minutes into the game when you are so tired and winded you can barely breathe. Both games take balls and hard work. Comment if you agree or disagree with my comment.
EMB 2017 there's been just as many careers ended by a football hit as a rugby hit, if not more. Plus I don't hear rugby players getting CTE like all these NFL players, so I believe the NFL is more wearing on your body
I reckon that rugby hits way more than nfl hits from my experiences but at new zeland that dont really have nfl over here
caleb dickson nfl.. a girls game
caleb dickson to be honest u can't compare hit rugby hits are like two titans clashing both as strong as the other neither gains ground but both go to the ground because of the weight behind the clash
NFL a two Demi gods fast small looks bad on tv because the weigh a feather
Honestly I played rugby for three years I still haven't recovered my back is fucked I have metal reinforcements in my knee I'm all shades of fucked when u see these two athletes standing together rugby players are huge
Yeah they are pussies.
The NFL videos were clearly supposed to be fake. That's the point. It's to market fantasy football, not to be a show of skill.
There are players who can actually do that fr tho, xD its insane. Like bsck flip while catching videos are definitely real they are by people who are not even in the NFL too
No shit.

Nfl hits harder, but rugby is so much more nastier. Name one NFL player who ruptured his testicle in the first 20 minutes of a game and played until the final whistle? Name an NFL player who had an opponent put him in a Kimora mid game and snap his arm? Or show me a NFL team which practiced eye gouging opponents like the old school springboks. Again, padded hits are harder, but u put Dan Marino on a rugby pitch he gets beaten to a pulp.
+Mike i can name many NFL players who have also played under extreme circumstances so your post in invalif
mmsibi go on then.
What abut Ronnie Lott who lost bone fragments and other parts of his finger laying somewhere in the turf and continued to play?
mmsibi
Thats no way near as brutal as a ruptured testicle.
Maybe not but that's one example.....i'm sure the raptured testicle thing happened exactly once. And if you want talk about horrific injuries, eye gouging and broken arms you might want to look up Darry Stingly, Lawrence Taylor's hit on Joe Theisman, etc....my point is both sports have had their horrific, brutal moments....
I played football all throughout high school and just started rugby in college. Both are brutal in their own right. The lack of pads is a huge difference though. There is nothing in football that compares to getting mauled in a ruck or the constant play. Football's intensity is hard to match when there is a stoppage in between each play which ensures balls to the wall action. I also think Football hits can be harder and more frequent in some cases.
Funny video but you can't compare the two it's like comparing tennis and squash you have a racquet and a ball but then it stops.
I agree. Cant compare them when the NFL ones are clearly fake.
moe lestangus
both vids are faked
Chuck Harper pics or it didn't happen.
moe lestangus You are dense.
Neil Johnstone Yah you can
I love how the NFL ads are edited and fake and you can see the rugby guys actually show their skill while taking the piss out of them.
NFL vs Rugby = McGreggor vs Mayweather. Brute force may seem to win at first, but stamina wins in the end.
American football and rugby are similar games except rugby is played by men.
See that's the kind of shit that is going to get you rugby boy's asses kicked. Football players - we will prove what we're saying.
You never heard of the rugby women’s World Cup?
Men with much less money who are not athletically as gifted, and would die to play in the NFL moron.
I love both sports and truly enjoyed my time playing amateur rugby under a coach that was a former pro rugby player from England, but there is a reason they made a rule american football players pad up. The inertia of the hits w/ the way the game is played is much harder than what is received in rugby. Ecspecially when it's a 350 lbs linebacker that got a 15 yard inertia to take your head off. Its only because of the way the game is played, that's all. Both sports are tough and fun, just different. On a side note, I saw Australian rugby & that looks fun as hell.
What a load of shit lol. NFL is played by unfit blobs who cant tackle, run, or do anything worthy of being a true athlete.
Can’t both rugby players and NFL players just embrace the love for big hits and fast jukes ?
American football players would get tired and worn down from the constant running and tackling. Rugby players would be shell shocked after a big hit.
Both are tough, both require a lot. American football hits are harder (not even up for debate), but rugby has more of it. Let's just agree that none of the people arguing about this on youtube are anywhere near in shape to go pro in either sport.
Sabiancym I'm pretty sure rugby players could take the hits easily. Probably more so than the football players.
Jerry B Andérson Its not abot bias'd think logically, Bigger guy, runs full force into smaller guy, bolth running about the same speed, FB=weight advantage//total power. Rugby=Speed/Endurance. Speed is slight, considering its not a race its a collision, thats why weight classes exist in fighting sports, weight is power, their is no arguement in that, if it were a game, its not that the nfl players would win, its that the nfl players would have less injuries, they're bigger and stronger just by body size, argue a 200 pound rugby players vs a 320 pound defensive lineman(being thats light).
Goo lox
Actually the average rugby player is about the same size as the average nfl player. And they aren't stronger either. They are more explosive though. And why do you think 200lbs nfl players can take the hit but a 200lbs rugby players can't. I'm certain the rugby players have experienced a lot more pain than they ever will in the nfl. Also lineman generally aren't the ones running full speed into a tackle. And they are pretty fat So stop bullshitting.
Jerry B Andérson
Im not saying rugby players cant take a hit, im saying they would have trouble against a guy 100-200 pounds heavier then them, rugby players are fast and fit, ive even done rugby myself its a completely different sport I could outrun most guys without a collision which is half of football for me, Defensive lineman at nfl level are 100-200 pounds easily over the average rugby player, they also train to be explosive which i do agree with which is why im saying rugby players are more athletic.Rugby player would avoid taking hits most likely, its not about who feels more pain, padding is their to protect the person wearing and the other person from the impact. I will give u this though, although ive seen how brutal a sport rugby can be, half of the time the guys are all around the same size, or they never catch anyone it just makes sense, its rugby, not wrestling.
Goo lox
You are clearly underestimating the size of rugby players. The average international rugby player is about 1.88 - 108kg which is 6'2 - 240. The average nfl player is about 10 pounds heavier. The difference isn't big. And like I said, it's mostly linebackers and safeties etc. that do most the hits. Linemen mostly do the blocking or tackle the quarterback.
amateur boxing - helmet;
professional boxing - nope;
.
karate competitions - helmet;
kyokushin & muay thai - nope;
Point proven. :)
Remmy Kauffer I thought Kyokushin doesn't allow hits to the head
Not with the hands but head kicks are legal :)
Ben C oh ok
You obviously havent played rugby. You know how many skulls are cracked in it but they still dont wear helmets. The only reason they wear helmets in american sports is cause advertising of helmet companies.
And yes, no pads in an NFL game and you are probably dead.
Both sports are high impact & fast, respect to both
Yeah but NRL has more impact and aggression
Cracked up when I saw Jane! One of the Bomb Squad, the Room Raider, and Blade coz his skills are so sharp.
Calvin Johsnon- 6'5" 236 lbs 4.32 40 yd dash
Adrian Peterson- 6'1" 217 lbs 4.4
Patrick Peterson- 6'1" 219 lbs 4.3
Chris Johnson- 5'11" 203 lbs 4.24
vernon davis- 6'3" 250 4.38
And these are just a few players that came to mind, there are many others who are just as big and fast. If rugby players tried to play football they would get demolished.
This is the difference between pro football players and every other athlete in the world
NFL is reckless, that's what makes it look tougher, but I must say a rugby player can easily survive an NFL game given so many breaks and the body protection, whereas an NFL player wouldn't last 20 minutes into a test match.
I'm rg,
Vamos pumas!
Enzo Maidana the Rugby player would have trouble adjusting to the different style of play and vice versa
Waste Of Oxygen not really considering we run, fight, tackle, wrestle for 80 minutes straight. Not 5-6 seconds at a time.
Michael Howe the point is. The games are different. The styles are different. Both sides would struggle to play the other sport.

I don't know about most of you internet warriors. But the best thing about rugby, for me is putting your body on the line for your team, for your mates! The life long bond that that creates amongst your mates will never die. The fact that you can lay someone out (from the other team) and have a beer and a laugh afterwards, no hard feelings is dope. Hope its the same in football. BTW as a fan of both games NFL hits harder. Much love
all blacks- what fucking lads!!! LOL!!!
I like how they don't do a big song and dance every time they make a tackle in rugby. It's a sport, not a circus
I have seen rugby players dancing and doing flips sooo......
@@lay698 They would be rugby league players though. They wouldn't do it after a tackle either
In this league, if there’s a hoe, no matter how small, you gotta be able to get through it
Only player I have heard of was mason crosby how old was that nfl video
Wonderful athletes, all of them. Very different sports, even the oval ball. No need of anything else. Respect to all players.
America by far produces the best athletes. Not only do we have more Olympic medals (gold and total) than most of Europe combined, but the Olympics themselves aren't even really a priority in the USA and we still dominate. Aside from that were also one of the youngest countries in the world. The fact that Europe can't stand they've fallen behind to what was basically their little brother once upon a time is evident on comments sections like this. If America funneled its best athletes into rugby from an early age it wouldn't be close. JJ Watt, Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham, all guys literally 6'6-6'8 275lbs and straight up faster than most rugby players. Scary thing is all 32 NFL teams are stacked with guys like this on their rosters with similar freakish stats, and your telling me the USA wouldn't be able to field seven athletes better the all blacks? Keep dreaming Europe, our population alone caters to us being able to field and produce bigger, stronger, and faster athletes, which NFL players are.
That comment is complete nonsense. First of all Europe combined has more than 10 times the total medals that the US has. Despite only having about twice the population. The olympic games aren't a priority in Europe either. They are a lot more important to americans. In europe its all about the world cup/football.
You act like europe is a country. Ofcourse the US is going to have more medals than single european countries like germany. They have 4 times the population.
After the world war europe was in ruins and the US had their time of glory. But now europe has not only caught up but overtook the US. The only things the US is still leading in is media and some technology.
And Jimmy Graham, J.J watt and Rob gronkowski are nothing special. Every rugby team has people like them. And you have to keep in mind that steriod use is very common in american football.
Marcos Moreno
1.) No, they don't.
3.) No. If Europe would be 1 country, they would have better athletes than the US and way more medals than the US. But they are divided in many countries and don't compete together.
4.) USA was barely involved in the world wars. And germany scientists invented the nuke. They fled to the US because of hitler. Fun fact: germany scientists are also the reason why you were able to go to the moon.
Rugby players dont get a break every 20 second and dont wear any protection

yellow dolla it’s not protection you have to wear though you can play without the head guard
well I play rugby as starting prop as of right now for my freshmen year, and defensive end in football, and I fucking love both of the sports
Twice in last night's match, two different players were reluctant to go for head checks after some bad knocks, they said they felt fine. They both had concussion
These NFL players have never heard of the "Samoan Side Step"!
G their are samoan players in the nfl, one even won a superbowl
@@bigmara4994 who is it? The only Samoan players i know in the NFL is Troy polumalu and Jessie Sapolu
And another thing - NFL players are pawns used by a series of coaches micromanaging every play. What other sport has 16+ coaches per team?
You can't micro manage what the players see on the field. Have you ever played football. Most of the coaches on the sidelines purpose is for practice. Position coaches don't call plays during game time for each position.
Only because the coaches cant handle it by them selves, thats why they need one for each played
Rugby players don't leave the pitch until their ears are inside out
Dan O'Flaherty coming from a rugby vs American football video eh?
The videos weren't supposed to be real, they were an advertisement for fantasy football.
I thought I was a senior at my school neuqua valley but I was never a senior I am a junior and I will only be a senior in august.
Good on yous new zealand
I'm from NZ (New Zealand) I play Rugby Union and Rugby League during the winter and on my off season I play American Football during the summer. Both sports are fun to play and very challenging. Every sport has its pros and cons.
Imagine if all these people were in one team😂🔥
I like how NFL supporters say that rugby is a girl sport and they don't hit nearly as hard as NFL players and this is because it takes no skill to throw yourself at someone using your weight compared to rugby players where they don't wear anything and have to tackle in a more skill full play.
Why do you need to be more skillful while tackling someone, the whole point is to take them down
Uhhh non Americans and their “skill”. It’s really nauseating
@@lay698 Not to hurt them or do anything ilegal in the tackle. It still hurts, but Rugby and League players are practically taught to take it and get straight back up like it's nothing.
"Rugby isn't a simple sport and you know that because if it was Americans would watch it"
It’s actually incredibly simple.... I play both sports and I’m in my rugby season right now... this is my first year playing rugby and I picked up the basics and 1 practice...
two completely different sports, you can't even compare them.
like my man said, all american kids grew up playing rugby in compton we called it murder ball even on concrete, so until you experience 11 grown ass men with very nasty intentions standing around 6'5 260 pounds & running around 15 to 25 mph ( witch is a ticket in a school zone) ready to tear your head off, I DON'T WANNA HEAR IT!!!!!
One big difference between NFL and rugby player is that the average gridiron player gets about 5 minutes of action in a game (if that). This is due to the high substitution rate and up to 40 seconds between each play. The average rugby player gets about 55 minutes of game time. (You are only allowed seven substitutions in the whole game). That means they do a lot more running and more tackling and being tackled. And yet the rugby player death rate is much less that American Football.
Death rate is lower in rugby because when you put the pads on, you feel like you are top shit. NFL is more reckless in the hitting, and that's why there are breaks, so people can ice up get water and go back out on the field and kick ass.
Rugby is a lot more running and safer tackling, the safe tackling is part reason they can stay out there for so long.
Both sports are fun, and neither of them are more brutal than the other.
(If you wanna see an actual brutal sport, check out NHL hockey, harder surface and more fast paced with huge hits.)
what a load of bullshit most nfl players are fat and quarterbacks are cowards rugby playrs are stronger by far as they need more stamina oh and no girly pads either theres plenty of rugby players over 6ft 4 actually please dont mention baseball or basketball they are games for women not even a sport NHL IS KING
lurocp8 rugby players about 6’0” to 6’4”? Those are normal heights of backs mate you don’t get too many locks under 6’6”. I play for an U17’s side and don’t stand out at 6’5”. Even speedy bastards these days like George North, Julien Savea and Nemani Nadolo are 6’4”. I couldn’t find a single NFL player taller than Devin Toner but I could find many, many rugby players taller than Dan Skipper (the tallest NFL player I could find).
lurocp8 you’re talking about average rugby teams as a whole then talking about average positions in football, in rugby teams that’s taking into account scrum halves and fly halves who have no reason to be above 6’0”. The average height of player in the nfl is 74 inches, 6’2”, same as rugby. Yet you get scrum halves, routinely 5’10” 200lbs or less, locks, routinely 6’6” 260lbs and props, routinely 6’0” 280lbs. You classify all the rugby team as one then list off a load of big positions in NFL.
lurocp8 dude the average height of an NFL player is only just taller than that of an average rugby player, you saying no position in the NFL is under 6’1 220 lbs, running backs average at under 6’0, I didn’t even say NFL players on the whole aren’t bigger than rugby players I just said saying rugby players were between 6’0-6’4 was completely asinine when it’s more like 5’9-6’8
The only reason people keep touting that football is rougher is because they "slam into each other full force" Well no shit you do, you're wearing padding. Rugby players hit hard as hell, albeit not at full force. But thats why they dont break their necks and get concussions and have bone problems later on in life. Because theyre not stupid and play a stupid force where flat out dumb brute strength is valued.
Damuse8191 Rugby players hit at the full force much more frequently than in the NFL.
how much boards did they brake
Im super impressed with everyones skills.

Glad to see former Rugby player Christian Wade on one play kicking butt already.
That was great now to read what people are getting mad about in the rest of the comments
you cannot compare two very different sports! rugby is totally different to nfl! there is different skill criteria for both so the players cannot be compared by skill
I'm a football player who also plays rugby and I must admit that Football is harder. Maybe it's because I play runningback as well as being in good shape. But I believe if you took 5 of the best runningbacks, safeties, and linebacker's from the NFL made a rugby team out of them within a year or two f playing the sport no one will be able to stop em. But don't get me wrong Rugby is no joke, not a game for wimps.
They wouldn't tho. Rugby forwards that hold their shape well are so bloody hard to get past. Epsically if the forwards are from Wales, Ireland or new Zealand
You must be a bitch who goes up against little girls
I played football in high school and now play rugby in college. Americans have the resources and talent to play rugby. If ruggers got rid of the football mindset, start creating youth leagues, better coaching etc, we'd be Top 10 in the world. The IRB wants the game to be a six continent sport.
David C Ha... thats pretty cocky coming from a country full of obesity... you guys could literally name one of your citys obese and if all the obese people tried to move there there would be a line going up and down your country, a line of fat people in caravans
NFL running back Dahani Jones played Rugby in England on his tv show a few years ago he did very well and was bigger than everyone on the rugby team. He only practiced for a week and was better than most of them. His only problem was he wears contacts and alot of the players would scratch his face an rip out his contacts so he couldnt see most of the game.He ws used to wearign a helmet where his eyes were protected It shows how good he was being able to play rugby well almost blind and only played for 1 week
Dude really flew through a car 😧
I play for a rugby team and every now and then we play American football to practice our ball handling and our coordination

I’ve played both, rugby is far superior.

Love it how they did it at my athletics club
I remember flying to usa for a holiday from nz...
Both sports are great... just not interested in NFL cause of the stop and play motion
Great video. In terms of pro players, you can't really compare them - totally different games with different requirements. NFL players are heavier and stronger but far less fit than the 'big boys' in rugby because the requirements are different. Athletes train their bodies for their specific sport. Just look at marathon runners compared to sprinters - totally different.
Are you having a laugh. There is not a single ngl player that is bigger and stronger than a rugby player. A rugby players leggs are stronger than two nfl players 😂
And you say they are heavier? Average rugby player is 230lb
Genaro, the ABs aren't making fun of NFL video or players.
Both sets of players respect each other more then some of the rugby or american football fans out there.
That guy diving through the car is like some james bond shit
