That's what I was thinking it is nice looks like it's all original from the view I've seen. Wonder if he could give us a little walk around of it I love the old muscle cars I'm working on a 3rd generation IROC Z
I replaced the intake gaskets on my wife's Tahoe and decided to replace knock sensors while I was there. A while later, I got a code for one knock sensor. I wasn't going to take the intake back off, so I did the work around and tied both wires into the same good sensor. No problems since.
Agree, especially if access is difficult. Even if the aftermarket store stands behind it still double labor and the chance of getting a second defective item is high.
I'm a hairband 80's rock fan including most of the bands Kenny likes! Born in 1964 and have found some of the Christian rock is very good! Thanks Kenny!! Keep rocking!!
piezo's create voltage(thats what is on your propane grill igniter). you can retry your experiment on the milivolt scale. everytime a cylinder fires it creates a milivolt signal. it compares that frequency of the signal against the rpm signal. a knock inserts more milivolt spikes and the computer sees that as an increased abormal frequency and backs down timing until the frequency evens back out. if they are not performing correctly the frequency will be off thus the code
just a heads up the motor mounts in these trucks are notorious for causing false alarms for spark knock. I forgot who but either Matt Sanford on youtube or Goat Rope Garage on youtube have a video going over it. You can also just disable the knock sensors with HPtuners.
I have a 2002 5.7 T/A. I replaced both under the intake with AC Delco sensors on Ebay, still got the code. Went to the dealer and got Genuine G.M. parts. Different packaging same part #, then mounted them to the front of the drinker's side head. I do not want to take that intake off again.
I good way to check knock sensors is engine running and viewing eng timing tap the lower intake with a small hammer and drift ! The knocks should retard the timing ! But this can also he broken motor mounts also !
There's that Mustang again.
What a beautiful machine!
Yes it is!

@Taillighttim26 cool, i drove an Iroc Z in 86 and it had that Vet engine in it. What a car. Loved its power.
You've got good taste in music, Kenny! I really like early Nu Metal, early 90s into the 00s.
Kenny I’d drive two days to have you work on my truck 💯. Hopefully I retire before you so I can make the trip 😁

Thanks again kenny
I've found out when it comes to electronic parts oem only way for me. I've come across to many new parts that just won't work or don't work properly.

I can’t testify if oem aftermarket parts are decent or not, but all the parts stores have moved to the lowest common denominator, Chinese Tofu parts.
I'm with you Kenny, classic rock is immortal. In my opinion, Born To Be Wild is the best song ever written.
Steppenwolf..
I had the same thing happen to me with Delphi knock sensors hato use ac delco that fixed it 2003 5
3 avalanche
I love the wheels on that mustang old school rocks.
I’ve never heard of a mustang old school rocks. Is that a super rare model?
"I love the wheels on that mustang. Old school rocks!" - Punctuation matters
Good work Kenny

Lemmy was a rock god. Alright
the older OBS trucks had them just above the starter motor on the 5.7 I have knocked a few off when removing starter oops😂🤣
I understand you live in the carolinas., how you doing with the hurricane?

there's no reason to not mount them out side of the block .

there should be a pid in the scanner to look at for timing.
I have seen misfires throw knock sensor codes because the varying engine speeds cause a a false knock detection

Fadeeeeee to Blackkkkkkk.... war pigs .... sabbath bloody sabbath ..........prince of darkness........ zep and skynard.
You need a better microphone, a lot times we can just barely hear what you are saying
Yep! Your from up north if you like most of that crappy music!
Why don't he just sell it and get a different truck??????????
Are you an occasional Swifty music fan?
Gud work kenny 😊
In the simplest of terms, a knock sensor is a microphone element. It does not "change value", as it either creates a signal, or MODULATES a signal.
