That last video just told a very gritty and interesting story. I don't know of anyone else out there who is doing anything like it. Glad you're going to continue doing what you do!

Not sure why your video about walking with a camera popped up on my YT feed, but I'm glad it did!
I do the same thing. I walk around with a camera. Its purposeful and I usually always take pictures.
A couple of weeks ago I was out walking in my neighborhood and was just checking out this open area with no houses built there. A native grass area where animals live and plants grow unchecked and never mowed down. Its nice And that's when I was approached by the Colorado State Wildlife officer. Apparently he was there to deal with a deer that must have been hit by a car and had a very severe rear hip injury. It wasn't eating and could no longer move away from humans. The animal had to be put down. He just wanted to let me know that he was going to be using a suppressed .22 to put the animal down. The whole thing was just an odd thing to stumble into and I stayed away as he did what he had to do. Sad, but it was best for the deer. And its not like the loss of that one doe would hurt our local herd. Also, it would feed the coyotes, foxes and other scavengers for a couple weeks. these things happen, just not so close to home I thought.
It was just odd. I never even saw the deer, but I did see the officer discharge the pistol twice.
Like you said, you just never know what you're gonna see when you go out into the world.
I liked that video, and I think a lot of us do the same sort of thing. It said to me that I'm not the only one that does that. And that I need to do it more often.
I too work in the TV production industry. The year has been rather odd. Slow and I'm concerned. The whole industry has changed. Its not like it used to be where there were a lot of shows to shoot and work for all of us. Now its very different, It doesn't feel the same. And I know its not just me. I've talked with a lot of my friends in the industry and they all say the same thing too. Things are changing.
This May will be 30 years in this industry for me. It may be time to do something else. Maybe I'll take more walks with my camera.

Thanks for taking the time Chas, I appreciate it. It's weird out there for sure. Over a decade ago I made a show about FnG in California. Just got to run around in the woods and look for trouble. Some of the most fun I've ever had. Stay in the fight pal.

Ya, just found your channel with your previous video. Probably was the algorithm, but who cares. Don't worry about that. Man walks around with a camera shooting his little heart out. That's a film I want to see. Show me more. That's a channel I want to subscribe to and come back to again and again. I'm not a professional. But, like legions of other photographers, I do have a burning desire to create and the camera, any camera is how I do it. That's how I interact with the world. That's what you captured so well in your last video. Love that you have this filmmaking background, because you know how to tell a story and you know how to present it in an interesting and engaging way.

Hey Ben! Yeah we appreciate the hell out of you. You always seem to say the right things to get me out the door and creating in my own way. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Of course you have to care about numbers and audience size but that has to be a distant second to just creating what you like but it keeps your work real and genuine.
I hope things pick up on the job front.
    Take care!
PS what an awesome dog, Boxers are great dogs!

Hello Ben, I'm writing this little note to tell you that it's always with great pleasure that I watch your videos and creations, even if I don't always post enough. But today, I'm taking this opportunity to send you warm greetings from Switzerland and help the algorithm a little with these words! ;-) Looking forward to it. Jean-Luc

Although our styles are different, we both work with performers and dancers frequently so I really enjoy watching your interactions with your subjects and your love of spontaneity (adventure) during photo sessions. Your content is less like teaching and more like hanging out with Ben and his cool friends while they create in realtime. There are plenty of “teaching” “critique” channels and frankly most of them are unfit to do either. Don’t change a thing Ben. I hope business picks up for you. In my experience the very best stuff always bubbles to the surface just when you begin to wonder if it’s the end of the line.

And just another reply to the video. I found you because I’ve used LUMIX since 2017. But the thing is that many people don’t make lumix videos, so when there’s someone who is more of an artist using them it is really cool. Rather than “here’s this lens”. You’re like “here’s this lens” then you just show the artist’s life

    • @SteveMayedaTV
      @SteveMayedaTV 7 місяців тому +1

In other words, I like the lumix or product vids, because you don’t screw it up…because you’re actually an artist

Funnily while I was watch that video, I peaked at the number of subscribers you have. I couldn't believe it was so low, you pump out such engaging content, talkng about photography with a bit of gear talk mixed in, I had assumed you were in the 6figure subscribers. I do like your videos when you are out shooting. Keep it up Ben, we're watching and love your perspective. I'll be in NY from the 22nd, shame we don't overlap, would have stopped by to say hi.

Hi Ben, I was looking forward to this video and you always inspire me, or cheer me up, or make me laugh. Thank you!! I've made a "call" to the Universe. I wish you gone have a big and fun project coming up this year! When you mentioned how people communicated in the past centuries and how civilisation will change in the next 200 years. I had to think of books I've read about Memory and communication in ancient cavillations. You might be interested to ready? The book is called "The Memory Code" by Lynne Kelly. You may already know it? Another one called "Memory Craft" also by Lynne Kelly. I found those books quiet fascinating. I like your idea going to Brooklyn and do some Doc Photography or Film. I've never been there, as I live on the other side of the Atlantic and just didn't get there yet. Would definitely be interested. Times are changing everywhere around us. The town where I live half of the shops are closed and empty. 4 years ago it all looked busy, and everybody seemed to be doing just fine. There are so many story's to be told, as you said. Keep up your great work. Love your dog! I've a had a Boxer too. She was the best. Best wishes, Fab

I would to be there, but there are limits in life, aren't there ? Regardless, love the videos in general, very human, slow paced, well thought through. Love the backstage which is presented in artistic way, yet very educational, but most love the interaction with other people there! Keep on rocking Ben ! 🙂
