Idk about keeping cameras close, common wisdom is to separate them by 30 degrees or so for the same reason you use different focal lengths - to avoid the jumpcut look.
Absolutely! My advice would always be to make sure they’re not too far apart. It can feel jarring going from the front to a side profile. But the same goes for too close.
