Hello Tom. This is the first time I have commented and tried to say hello, but I have been subscribed to your YT channel for a while. I would just like to say that I was in the U.S. Federal prison 2010- 2016 ( I like guns :-) but the government does not like that ). At Coleman USP 2 in Florida 2015, I was good friends with James " Whitey " Bulger from the movie Black Mass. Your compositions for the score of Black Mass is the best thing about that movie. You truly made a masterpiece of that score. I listen to it all the time. I even told Whitey Bulger how good it was before he was murdered in October 2018. In the future... I may be part of a production about Whitey Bulger which would be like a prequel and a sequel to Black Mass. It would be perfect if that production could use that score as a continuity with Black Mass. I don't know the legal copyrights with WB and Scott Copper with that, but we will talk about it when or if that time comes. I also think you recycle and re a ranged that score for the movie Hostiles that came out 2017. It's also a Scott Cooper movie. Awesome. Keep up the awesome work Tom. Leon Swan is my name with the Lion face on " Zuckerberg's F book ". Friend me.
Soooooooo thankful for all that you do!!! Love your music. Love your videos! Love how you take time out of your schedule to do these overviews and explanations for people who otherwise would never know what the pros do and how/why. And not only informative, but entertaining as well. "Get your shit together Tom" had me laughing when you were trying to say some of the names 🤣 Again, thank you! 😊
If you'd like less clutter, I would recommend Tymkrs Bulkhead 1/8" to dual db25 modules to route signals between/throughout cases or even behind your case using DB25 cables. Either way, looking great!
That's a wonderful selection of modules. I can totally see this works for your sound pallet. Thanks for the tour, looking forward to hearing it in action.
Thanks for taking the time to make all these videos. The cable colouring makes a lot of sense. If I'd be working with a massive rack like this I would probably try to hide wires that are permanently connected. Modules from Voltage vibes or tubbutec allow you to have cables behind your modules. You would need more shorter cables, but would not have 8 longer cables hanging in front of the displays of the zadars for example. Look forward to your next videos. Vriendelijke groeten uit Canada.
Wow... thanks for the overview. Would you mind to tell us, what brand your multiples are? I love their feature showing a signal with LEDs PS: Never mind, got it. After Later Audio. Gotta swap my 14 Intellijel mults with them 😅
I'd really love to hear some examples of how you're using this assortment of modules. There's quite a few modules in there that I also own, and I'd love to see what you're getting out of them!
Hey man. If you like that Erica wavetable module you might wanna look at a Industrial Music Electronics Piston Honda. Definitely king of the wavetable modules. It’s a dual oscillator wavetable with preset management along with tons of scanning and modulation options. The IME stuff is influenced by the 200e stuff for sure.
As someone with his own rack I massively appreciate you showing us your system of routing and which modules you use. As a decades old fan I also massively appreciate you being back on yt. Always loved listening to your music and your voice. But wanna know what’s massively killing me? That 3-4 Hz signal in the background. Cheers 😅❤️
Tom, saw you had the Xaoc Timiszora up there. I cannot more highly recommend the DEVA expander module for it. Analog computer over/under clocking plus screechy feedback stuff is remarkable. Really, really fantastic fx that are super rare to hear especially in film scores. I JUST used it on a horror film I did and it freakin' rocks.
As a fellow eurorack enthusiast, I'm always reminded of someone saying that it's like spending a ton of money to sound bleep 😂 Anyway, looking forward to your next video. In a dream scenario I could come by and visit for coffee.
so... when are you coming to visit the This Is Not Rocket Science lab in Amsterdam? We'd love to geek out about synth design and play with prototypes and such :-)
I have a system about half that size, built over half a decade with many hours of thought going into how it was organized. Would be cool to hear your thoughts on why you put things where they are, or maybe logic behind groupings of modules (other than manufacturer) thanks!!
Love these little videos. I have on little critique, could you please make the sound mono in these videos. It is a bit annoying that your voice is only in one channel and i think that mono would suffice for this type of voice over. Also really happy that you are back :)
Loads of variability, lots of very cool modules. I wonder what kind 2nd mortgage you would have to have in order to buy all these racks. A true euro-rackers wet dream. Lovin' your stuff XL!
Great collection of modules! Do you ever get overwhelmed with this number of options? I am asking because I had to learn that the hard way ... to many modules get me into decision paralysis and I am actually less productive.
Hmmm…I understand Tom’s enthusiasm (we’ve all had or have GAS in some degree, but I’m never going to own a Buchla because I do not have that kind of money. I am more interested in Film music, composition, and, if you like, I am interested in the use of Buchlas in that field just as I was in the use of synths in the soundtrack of Apocalypse Now, Tron or Chariots of Fire. Can we go back to that?
Yeah man love the tour, the colour* (had to add this word to my dickshunary!!) coding, and the printed legend. It's great to have you back out here in Yoochoobia. *Color in US Also thanks for confirming what I've long suspected, that it's not as yet illegal to have a working system without at least one Plaits. Mad respect! (I've got 6) Fight the power brother!!!
When sound design is the name of the game, people might think its all about creating custom VSTs. Hardly. Beyond all the filters & effects there is the raw dynamic behavior input, of which velocity is just one characteristic. Enter Junkie XL’s wet-dreamboard of envelope & dynamics chicanery, where no amount of digital emulation dare tread.
At 6:41 you talk about modules from “Teenage Engineering“ but they’re actually “Noise Engineering”. Just a slip of the tongue. Edit: also, “xaoc” is pronounced “chaos” for some reason, Polish I guess 🤷♂️
If I´d do a simple question... Is this vid sponsored by any or some brands? I get surprised seein Beh modules... And I love the vid, BTW, still one of the best youtube channels to learn modular synthesis
Mate, if your midi going through your erica sequencers are coming from an audio interface via USB or something like that you might experience heavy midi jittering. Try looking some expert sleepers Usamo or ES3/ES5 combo that gets in your interface via ADAT giving you extra outputs. The goal is to have midi going through audio, MIDI via usb or via usb interface will never be able to be not jittery even at 24ppqn
Why don't some people give up on modular walls and fanatically stick on multi-meter hardware, while today a 200 MB plug-in does the same thing, and maybe does better? Little boys with toys!!
It would be nice to hear something instead of just pointing at each module you purchased and maybe use or not, it's an affliction many have purchase and never use or use once but never in a project. Post some sounds JXL!
TouellSkouarn . . . I don't know how to pronounce it and maybe Tom isn't sure either and he didn't want to say it wrong? 🤷♂😅 It's French and maybe sounds like "tool-scorn" but that's just a guess.
Hey guys! Another quick overview here before I go into demos. You'll hear this puppy in action in upcoming videos. Leave your questions below!
Can I use your sonic the hedgehog 2 music compositions?

How do you decide when to use FX (Reverb, Delay, etc) from your rack vs from your DAW? Or do you always rely on the ones from the rack in those cases?
What happened to all the hardware samplers?
I love your rig, what's not to love - except maybe, where's your Optomix? You just got to have one. This is the Way.
How refreshing to see a successful film composer airing his laundry on the balcony... 😄
Wow! Thank you so much for featuring our RT-311 Swarm Oscillator and the RT-1701 EFFEXX in your setup!
Tim from midi amsterdam is the best !!!
love these walk throughs and personal thoughts on how/why/favs/etc
What a rig, I'm really excited for the audio demos and what you're actually doing with it.
Most underrated synth vid on the internet. 🔥 thanks for sharing your process and systems layout
are you dumb?

glad to see you also have plenty modules I got in my rack! Sick setup man
This is dazzling! I totally understand Eurorack but to get a system like this going is just a whole different ballgame. Good luck 🍀
We love you for doing this .. Thank you very much !!

So awesome. Your system is as big as Colin Benders! Very cool man.
nice. cant wait to hear what comes out of this impressive rig. must be fun having all those toys to play with, lol.
peace.
Fantastic video for a hardware fan like me. Can’t wait for the sound demo !
We have a lot of modules in common :-) Looking forward to the sound demonstration
Those IKEA Raskog carts are amazing. I have a few and love them!
Whoaah!!! That's what I call "Dealing with the Roster"!!! Supercool [French accent]❤.
Really looking forward to hear some patches!
Not one day im regreting getting two of your vintage pieces. Used them in lot of productions and having a lot of fun. CHeers all the best! ;-)
great video, looks like you will need a ladder to get up there soon.
Looks impressive. You can take over the world with this thing.😄👍🏻
I’ll just leave my like and pretend I understand how this gigantic thing works lol
Absolutely massive. The possibilities must be endless

It felt like a walk in the forest without getting lost.
Very concise! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Awesome ☺♥♪
the zip ties are a “bold choice”. Always enjoy your content tho, thanks for sharing!
Awesome Eurorack system! Where do you get the huge Eurorack cases?
I wish i can get my hands dirty with the eurorack system.. what a wonderful and beautiful monster you have🙏🏾🙏🏾
the RT swarm oscillator is such a beast! :-)

His diction and experience could have make him the best musical influencer across the globe ( especially for those above 35)
Wonderful
You are crazy 😜 ❤. Happy 2024!
Love the rack! Is it available on modulargrid?

Junkie XL: Sells all his gear
Also Junkie XL: Buys 20k of eurorack modules
I wonder if he broke even or even made some profit :)
More like 120k
not just eurorack, also a couple of Buchla systems! I more used to Euroracks, but really waiting to hear all this systems together
20k is probably just for the 2 empty racks alone!😂
would be nice to see some mid-advanced and advanced eurorack tutorials by Junkie XL!
Nice! What eurorack cables brand do you recommend? Thanks.
As a fellow eurorack enthusiast, I'm always reminded of someone saying that it's like spending a ton of money to sound bleep 😂
Anyway, looking forward to your next video. In a dream scenario I could come by and visit for coffee.
Any chance to hit play button and hear?

Wo studio time and Eurorack totally immense!
Yes, that was a Behringer module.
Five
Audio demo thanks!
I think I recognize polarnoise cables, very good patch cables
Love these little videos. I have on little critique, could you please make the sound mono in these videos. It is a bit annoying that your voice is only in one channel and i think that mono would suffice for this type of voice over. Also really happy that you are back :)
Can you produce some cumbia pachanga arrangements for Tinchi?
No Mutable or ALM? Surprising!
You have a quadraphonic studio but I don’t see any quadraphonic modules?
Buchla?
@@philippendletonmusic on the Eurorack. I was trying to locate some Shakmat modules, notably their quad mixer… On the Buchla I see the 227e.
@@FranckMartin agreed

Can you please make a Studio Time episode on how to program / write for JXL brass and how to create swells / crescendos?
@floofy007 do it via automation in your DAW or assign volume/expression/modulation/ to your mod wheel and record live. You’re welcome.😊
All those wires would make me go mental
the only thing i could afford of this is the IKEA 'cable storage' under the rig.
When sound design is the name of the game, people might think its all about creating custom VSTs.

Nice word salad.
I have the same setup... slightly better modules tho :)
901m is a beast
At 6:41 you talk about modules from “Teenage Engineering“ but they’re actually “Noise Engineering”. Just a slip of the tongue.

I fell into madness. This requires intelligence.
This has cost a hugh amount of money and how you will transport it?
mindblowing rack :o
That’s alot of clock
Did I spy a deckards dream bottom right?
Word bra
I'm surprised no Vult Freak Manifold Filter....
Xaoc …… “Chaos”
