Hey there, pinned comment guy from the aforementioned video here.
First, I think you got way too much hate on the original video. I disagreed with a few of your points sure, but I don't think they were unreasonable or dumb. I try not to be a dick when I comment on things and I hope I didn't contribute to, or instigate, any hate you may have received.
There are a lot of problems with Sim, probably more so than other game modes even. But despite the apparent neglect from Gaijin when it comes to game mode and quality of life improvements; it's still (in my opinion) a hell of a lot of fun, especially in VR. I absolutely agree that the game mode needs improvements, and you're comment about it being "almost fun" is right on the money. It feels like it wouldn't take much to make Sim so much more enjoyable for everyone, but the snail do be slow.
WT really is basically the only game in town when it comes to Sim accessibility, airframe selection, and player population. Hell, I can't think of any other Sim that does large bombers like WT does. There's so much going for WT and it's so close to greatness that it's frustrating for those of us that care about the game. Hopefully they can do that last little bit to really make the game amazing.
Until then, please continue to make videos talking about the issues! The more people we have highlighting the problems, even if we disagree about the solution, the better.
Good on you for taking the criticism in stride and engaging with it in good faith.
    Cheers!

Gaijin's game modes are completely outdated. Sim is probably one of the better modes for Air. They need to encourage players to stay in the game and they need better IFF for Sim. Improvements are desperately needed for RB and AB though.

I want to add a point in regards to accesibility. Console players do not have DCS or something like DCS. This is it for us. And it plays very well on a gamepad with a bit of setup (tip: if you've played Ace Combat, model your control scheme off of that series' controls as a base and tweak it from there).

There are larger issues which spill into sim and every other aspect of the game.
Decompression (lack there of) is one of the biggest issues of all aspects of the game.
I don’t care about CAS in ground RB. Been playing the game for I think 10yrs now and recently started sim with some buddies and fell in love with it.
Always hated arcade anything and haven’t ever enjoyed “call of duty in planes” of arb.
Grb is fine in how it plays below top tier. It needs to not have the amount of uptiers it has (should not have any unless you intentionally bring lower BR tanks to a higher BR).
Different game modes for all air content is pretty much required. Fighter planes should be required to assist ground strikers to achieve victory’s and should benefit players to incentivize their actions.
Hell choppers could be added to air sim if the built the game modes.
Lots could be done to improve the game but at the same time Gaijin does it on purpose. They intentionally build frustration into the game to incentivize spending money.

another point i want to add, war thunder is a massive game, and its sim community is equally massive, and hardcore, 1. a toned down version would be fatal to this community that thrives in the as immersive as possible completely skill based dogfighting, especially at the top tier, but also you will find ace 109 pilots etc with hundreds of DAYS of playtime in sim. they would not enjoy the game mode being dumbed down and a massive point here, the war thunder sim community, HATES games like dcs because not only are they usually cash grabs (much, much more so than war thunder has ever been even with its at times questionable monetization) they don't dedicate themselves nearly as much has gajin to their credit has to making the sim actually good gameplay wise. does sim need a lot of work, yes it does, but luckily for us sim players gajin actually tends to listen when we send in signed petitions, right now we are working towards getting a map made into EC. and ofcourse we are always working twoards making gajin give us BIGGER maps, so that the modern aircraft get to truly shine.
and btw war thunder has more sim players than any other sim has. just saying

The first video definitely rustled some jimmys. But this is a good follow up.
I started getting into air rb after 1.600 hours and just now found my way into sim. I started playing at br 1.7 with a bomber. Gunnersight really helped me understand how the plane reacts to inputs and learned alot. Got to the ME 264. This is the only mode where Bombers feel somewhat capable due to the awareness advantage in gunner view. After a few matches i already went actively into fights and after i learned where to roughly shoot I did quite alright.
Getting kills in sim really feels different. Like you accomplish something.
Even more so In fighters which I got my first 2 kills yesterday.
One of the problems with sim is the learning curve that is more like a wall at the beginning. Once you get past it's an amazing experience.
I also like that it's a little more slow going and not the thunder dome of Air RB or even AB .

Like I said on the last video I still agree that sim needs work, and I hope most people who took the time to watch both this video and the previous video all the way through appreciate your willingness to take our feedback and consider our positions. I think most of the people here just want what's best for the health of the game and the community, and it seems obvious that was your intention with the previous video as well as this one. Overall your videos are interesting and despite initial disagreements, it's nice everyone seems to come to a common ground throughout this. Thanks man.

    Free to paly player here.
Should you want to do it this way, Id recommend grinding a "big event" vehicle (summer, winter, etc.) and then selling it. Sure its waaay more efficient to work that time and invest the money, but if you want to play anyway (and youre ill for example and have the time) its a great way to earn premium vehicles and premium time without spending money. And only buy stuff during sales!

Sim is in need of improvement. The current way it plays feels more like a beta test than anything.
To counter that though, go watch standard dcs play without mods. The difference isn't as great as it seems. Sure the process in WT is streamlined for startup and such, but honestly? Missles and bombs and the way they are handled is fairly spot on.
There are multiple tutorials out there for wt that aren't so old as to be useless for setting up controls for when you first get into missle thunder tiers. There are also tutorials for how to understand your radar and what it means with the different returns. Shoot, I believe one UA-camr even explains the different radars on the jets that exist so you can better understand what is going on and why one jet may have the ability to see you beyond 20km and the other can't rven see 8km. Tim's variety i believe is the name?
Gaijen has started putting tutorials out for all their more modern ordinance in the past year, which has been awesome to see. Sadly it's still behind in terms of what is needed to truly help someone use the ordinance to the utmost, but that comes with time and usage.
Still though, back to the main point. Sim needs work, but to remove it was not the answer.
Air rb ec would be a neat thing to bring back at some point, but not as a permanent mode. Maybe as a special thing from time to time.

Agreed, it would be something I believe people would enjoy, and it would honestly give bombers something to do, other than be an immediate target, that is. Sadly I don't think gaijen is going to listen on that front, as they've shown with how they want to do "smaller" high tier matches in air rb.

You are correct that air sim is filled with bots and SL/RP farmers, but there is a 2nd category that I find far more frustrating: Pure sim pilots.
How am I supposed to enjoy air simulator battles if some guy who plays ONLY simulator mode, purposefully joins lobbies with lower skilled players to farm free kills? Because worst case scenario you spend the next hour getting killed 20 times from a guy who is probably kitted out with HOTAS, and best case scenario, an equivalent skilled player joins your team and scares off that enemy player. Only to then kill all the enemies before you have a chance to get any kills for yourself.
And it is so funny when you call these people out and they say dumb things like "get good" or "this isn't PVE" (ignoring the fact that they focus down bombers exclusively for free kills, then run away like rats when a fighter comes after them).
I loved your idea merging air sim with air rb ec. By letting these pro sim pilots take a handicap, it weeds out those who were interested in a fair fight this whole time, vs just those who wanted easy kills on pilots who only have 1-5 days total flight time.
But the fact is, I have 0 interest in air simulator until they make it more friendly to new players. Whether that is a ladder matchmaker, or negative SL for killing new pilots repeatedly, the list is endless for what they could do to fix things.

    • @hav3nWT

Good comment. You're right. You're either ALL-IN on sim or you're playing at a disadvantage.

    • @darthclide
      @darthclide 4 місяці тому

@@hav3nWT It is also the same reason I quit simulator ground. I used to play that exclusively even if the queue time was 20 minutes long (been playing since 2014, and loved ground simulator when it came out). But now that pro sim pilots infest it (GRB think CAS is bad there, just try simulator battles where they can spawn fully decked out with bombs in the first second of the game), combined with the historical vehicle rotation, and I have maybe played ground sim 5 times in the past year.

    • @viewer54322
      @viewer54322 2 місяці тому

@@darthclide Are you talking about ground sim ww2? Almost every tank has a machine gun on top and all it takes is a couple bullets (sometimes just 1) to wreck a plane or make it rtb. Dedicated SPAA units are a death sentence unlesss its distracted. I play fighters in ground sim and easily stop the enemy CAS. Ground sim is the best for both tankers and pilots.

    • @darthclide
      @darthclide 2 місяці тому

@@viewer54322 5th word in my comment is "air".
But the same issue exists in ground. What happens when team Blue spawns 0 fighters and 0 SPAA, and the team Red spawns an imbalanced CAS with a 5000 hour sim pilot? Or even 1000 hours? By the time team Blue gets one fighter off the airfield (assuming they have equivalent skill to the enemy CAS), or a teammate spawns SPAA (if they know how to lead a target, or even have spaa researched) the CAS pilot will easily have 5+ kills. Btw, not all tanks get 50 cals, let alone a gun that can point up.
But the silver lining is that the aforementioned scenario (even with some deviations) means the battle will end in 10 minutes. IE, you can just quickly go back to GRB, or pray another GSB lobby isn't so horrible.
Whereas in air sim, you could be flying for 10 minutes before you get shot down by a pro Sim pilot who took off and headed straight for you because they have the correct PPI monitor or VR headset that allows them to see your plane from many miles away + all the skill to wreck you even if you do spot them coming after you.

I think all of our points we desagreed on before have been resolved.
Sim is a good mode, but you need to find the sweetspot to avoid zombers and unbalanced games. And gaijin could definetly improve so every game is fun and you dont need to scroll the entire list of sim games to find one that is populated and is balanced.
And ofc tutorals also need to be inproved.
I "adopted" a new player a while ago and in teaching him how to play, ive realized trulely how unforgiving this game is for new players. Hes a fast learner but i keep needing to explain details and strategies i thought where obvious and i can only imagine the horror in having to learn this game without a mentor.

I would make a long comment. But I don't think I need so say anything considering what I've thought of saying has already been said. So I'll just say that I agree that Sim battles can do a lot better, but Gaijin seemingly has a blind fold and ear plugs on and ignores what people point out can be easily improved.
Also the points you made on the previous video can probably sum up how somebody new to sim mode will feel about it. And that makes me feel like the backlash was unjustified. But as you said, many people probably didn't get to the end.

Heyy i didnt know you released a response video. Dope.
My full take on sim is heavily attached to what war thunder is as a whole, and that is very unique and full of potential.
I think gaijin is still kinda stumbled by how successful theyve become and all the directions that war thunder can take.
But nore than anything, i think TrainingDays said it best, "Gaijin wont touch game modes with a 10ft pole."
Finally though, i think sim modes MAIN disability, is the fact that war thunder has no VOIP (or not one that works atleast). I feel like in sim, communication is a HUGE aspect to why it feels "almost fun." Gaijin should add a voip system like Hell Let Loose or Squad. Where you have a radio frequency for your squad and one for your platoon (squadron).
But yes, last video strongly disagreed with you. This video, mostly agree with you. 🤝🏽🫡

(i am just dowloading other games just now) i dont wanna quit but gaijin forces me. i hope maybe someday they will realize how important is to listen players. if nobody eating your dish its not important how good you are as a chef cook.
