    -------
    "It’s clear that in life, there are sufferings. When we see a tiger biting a fawn’s neck, the fawn is very gentle, very beautiful, we feel a lot of compassion in our heart. However, we know that this lion or this tiger has no choice other than biting the fawn’s neck because it also needs to live. If we have understanding, not only do we have compassion for the fate of that gentle and beautiful fawn, we also have compassion for the tiger because it’s forced to kill this fawn to eat and survive.
    These animals, these fierce animals, they have to hunt. But they have something different than humans, which is they only hunt when they’re hungry. But humans hunt even when they’re not hungry. They hunt for fun. Even if we have already had enough money to feed ourselves and our family, we still hunt."

      If you eat round-up ready GMO monocrop grains and seeds youre promoting a massive loss of life. Industrial monocrop agriculture destroys even the bacteria in the soil, turning more and more farmland into desert every year. Animals are actually essential for soil health and a vibrant ecosystem, we should avoid monocrop agriculture.
      Dont prioritize only the suffering of some life over that of other types of life.

    • @Flobb1t
      @Flobb1t Рік тому +3

      @@-whackd Please, educate yourself on the topic of land use and why GMO's exist in the first place before making yourself look foolish. Start off with the bioacumulation of GMO's that are being fed to someones flesh that you consume, where the entire reason for monocropping begins. Flesh eaters are the ones responsible. Going vegan reduces land use (up to 76% by many major studies) meaning better land managment, less monocropping, and better soil rotations. FYI, cattle are a monocrop...
      Animals are not essential for healthy soil, mycelium are. If you really cared about plants, it takes 10x more plants to fatten some poor cow, than eating the plants directly, just so you can pay someone to cut their head off.
      Also, this should be obvious to a child, plants don't have a central nervous system, nor a brain, and are incapable of suffering.
      So much misinformation in your statement it's not even funny.

    He’s absolutely right, as always.
    There’s so much horror in the world that we have no control over but we do have control over what we eat, wear, and support. I sleep much easier, knowing I have not created any suffering in the world. It’s a peace that’s hard to put into words. Humans that hunt for sport are operating on a very low frequency. No other animal but the human species hunts for pleasure.

      I was in line recently at a grocery store. The man in front of me was bragging about going on an expensive hunting trip in some other country and talking about the animals he killed and how much fun it was.
      In my heart I was trembling with anger and I knew that I wanted to really tell this man how cruel he was. But I also knew from my practice to never say anything when your truly angry.
      So now if I ever come across that opportunity to speak out against the injustice, I vowed to make sure I keep myself from getting angry, that way I can try to protect others who can't protect themselves. 🙏

    This is the clear real connection of the 1st Precept of Ahimsa in true Buddhism and the Vegan principle.. That is why the Buddha made Ahimsa/Veganism the first precept, so it is noticed first. Because He knew most people would have the hardest time following it, and make excuses to go around it and continue their infliction of suffering on animals. All Vegans might not be Buddhists, but all truly sincere Buddhists are Vegans.

      It would still be the least amount of suffering caused. As for now, scientist say that plants don't have a conscious and a brain/a way to feel any pain or emotion that would make them suffer the way every other animal does. Ofc science is not always that wise but as I said, still the best option to eat the plants because the animals have to be fed 3x times more of the plants that we would need to survive.

    • @matthewscott6380

      More plants are destroyed by eating animals, as the farmed animals are fed plants. So if you want to minimize damage to plants you go vegan.

    • @hear-and-know
      @hear-and-know Рік тому +2

      Aside from what Ou. mentioned, consider this: a plant has roots. It does not run away. A fruit-bearing tree gives freely. An animal who feels pain screams and runs away from this suffering.
      It's indeed minimizing harm... We know that they are living beings as well. When you cut a tree, it grows back. We can infer that it wants to live. But I think there is no comparison between the suffering of a tree, and the suffering of an animal - especially when animals spend their life getting tortured, just so we can have one meal. I try my best to minimize the harm I cause to other beings, is all I can say :)

      Are you vegetarian for the animals? Because if you are and allow me to show you, that the animals still die by being used as a product until they become useless to this industry they are in and the outcome will still be a dead animal. If you like to see it for yourself, you can look on UA-cam for the Dominion Documentary (Free) and see all the ways they treat the animals.
      Being vegetarian is just giving the dead animals over to the next person that would eat them. I was shocked when I found this out after being a vegetarian for 1 year. But if you see the documentary you will understand without a doubt 😊

    I was vegan for 8 years. Actually went to Deer Park for the Rains Retreat exploring the monastic path. Took this last year off, eating omni and it has been strange at times..but I think helpful for not holding so tightly to views and exploration of what it is to be a human. Still want to honor life, so I'm going back to mostly plant based, perhaps with some eggs here and there to safeguard my nutritional bases.

    The only issue I have with Vegans or Vegetarians. Is that most if not all of then want food that mimicks the look, taste, even smell of a dead animal. These "beyond" meats, or any other fake meat. This to me isn't what a Vegan should be. You shouldn't be striving to recreate dead animal from Vegetables. If your against the suffering of animals, then the taste of dead animal is suffering itself. You shouldn't want to recreate suffering.

      Not every vegan is like this. I personally don't like the alternatives that much but as for the people that make the transition, this can be an immense help to see that all they eat is coming from plants and still keeps them healthy. But ofc non processed plants are the best.

      I would agree but I would just say that many people are addicted to the tastes of flesh, and while a lot of corporations may just be trying to capture the market that eludes them because they can't sell a burger to a vegan, these products can possibly be useful to help people eat less animals.

      @rapinbatches By the definition of veganism the motivation for going vegan is NOT that animal products might look, taste or smell bad to you. You go vegan for the animals.
      Another thing. What is wrong with recreating say "butter" as a plant food using e.g. cashews and coconut fat? Do you seriously believe that by doing so one would "recreate dead animals [and their suffering] from vegetables"?!

    • @t_umami
      @t_umami 4 місяці тому

      In my perspective, this type of food is more for people who are trying to be vegetarian, but find it difficult. Not every vegetarian/vegan eats this type of "fake meat", but there is also nothing disingenuous about it-it just makes it easier for people who are used to eating meat most of their upbringing.

      2- Also, with heightened sensitivity, meat doesn't tastes the way you think it does, just go to any psychonaut/psychedelics forum or subreddit, they always discuss the same topic, how meat tastes like cardboard paper or rubber.
      3- What you really enjoy in meat is the flavor of the sauces and spices, not the meat itself.
      4 - Eating meat is more expensive for your wallet.
      5 - Meat takes a long time to digest
      6 - Compassion alone for other beings (in this case animals) should be enough of a reason

      I eat meat because it's the proper human diet, not fun. I would prefer not to eat anything that I can make eye contact with, but everything dies and everything eats something else. I eat meat with a grateful heart. That's the best I can do and I am OK with that.
      I do think that animals should graze freely on their natural diet however, not locked in tiny stalls eating grains grown with glyphosates.
