- Woodturning - a Twisted Log
In the forest I found an old apricot log and inserted it into my lathe. What came out of it, see for yourself.

Bookmarked this over a year ago and forgot all about it, terribly sorry - and sorry that I didn't watch it at the time. Beautiful piece, thanks for sharing.
That's cool that you can see the twist in the finished piece great work first time watching you. James
Another excellent project and looks fantastic. Thank you 👌👌👌👌
WOW, I love it!!!
Even the dog is excited about it! Can't argue with the dog!
Really nice lidded pot. You made the twisted grain stand out and shine.
There are so many woodturning channels/videos on here that I have come to realize that I prefer videos with even just a little commentary, not a friggin' chatterbox, but some pertinent comments thrown in along the way!!
Azul (salut ). Fantastique et bravo à vous monsieur le génie. BRAHIM.M Algérie
That turned out beautifully. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Nice work!!

Love your work I like how you have made the sections in your work, I dont see others do this.
That turned out beautifully. The grains in that piece are amazing.
Very nice piece. And what a neat optical illusion! When you first stopped it @ 4:10, I could have sworn those beads were external screw threads!
Absolutely stunning.. I've never seen a tree twisted that much before.
Alex thank you for shaaring this project with us. I am glad to see you simply turn the peice as is, and not worry about filling cracks and such. nice job, beautiful piece.
Parabéns muito bonito trabalho nota dez excelente peça e fica com Deus.
I really love the colour once it was oiled, it makes everything pop. Gorgeous piece 🤘🏻
Alex it is amazing to see that the trunk is so twisted also deep within. It is awesome wood and a beautiful piece.
Nice
Eres un chingón ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I definitely like watching something transform into a peice of art, great job.
I like it. I would make a silk flower arrangement for inside and place the lid alongside for a visual treat. The colors are wonderful.
Kinda looks like a bee hive stores your honey bottle in it
Nicely done, sir. The twisted wood gives a strange appearance to the pot, very lovely.
Excellent finish and love the wood thank you 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Reminds me of an oversized honey pot. Done really nicely.
Excellent tool control. Always safe.
That's so cool! Love it!
It reminds me of Winnie the pooh's honey pot.
You do insanely beautiful work!!
Winnie the pooh is looking for his honey pot. Beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful!
Очень хорошая работа!!! Спасибо тебе дорогой друг!!!
# Very very nice, and also watching ! Thank You. All the BEST !
I love that 👍 Excellent.
A Master with his bowl gouge!
When you get the camera in the right place and the chippings (swarf?) fly right at the lens; is that the woodturner’s money shot?🤔
Вот прямо на станке надо мазать ...)))
Great job. Looks great.
Nice work. Love it
Parabéns pra vc que Deus abençoe sempre, que bonita Pç 👏👏👏👏👍❤
Very very nice jar I love the way you made it look like a honey cone looks great man good job God bless you
Parabéns
Pooh bear loved this video 🐻🍯
Sorry if someone has asked this before. Are you also a beekeeper? Because many of your pieces resemble hives or honey pots. If so, nice way to combine your interests!
It's a hunny pot ! Looks like the one Winnie the pooh had.. But jokes aside, that looks fantastic...
Nice Work
Very nice!
Just a shame you couldn't stabilise those cracks. Beautiful work but I don't see the piece lasting a year of humidity and temperature cycles before it completely splits!
👍
Ficou muito lindo esse vaso
Beautiful
Good job 👍
Beautifully rustic! Love it.
Mkll
good job...
Heck yea 👍👊👊✌💨💨
If you see this post and feel like responding that would be cool. About how long have you been wood turning? I ask because you have a steady hand and look to be in your early 20's. I'm just starting to learn hands on with a lathe that was given to me. So far Im horrible, and I know it takes time obviously, and patience. So was just wondering how long it took you to get where you are. I'm just about to turn 40 and I needed a new hobby/eventually maybe even selling of my work. Thanks for your hard work and keep uploading those videos, I'm subbed.
Hey. I have been doing this for 1.5 years. The tools are all homemade. I want to buy a good instrument soon. I'm 25 years old
@@AlexYevmenWoodTurning thanks for the response, I appreciate it. The tools look like they work just fine, and the lathe is in good condition also. Wood turning for a year and a half, your doing very nice work, keep up with it you already have an edge. A friend of mine has been turning for about 17 yrs he said, so I'm taking an apprenticeship under his tutelage. I hope in a year and a half I'm just as good. Thanks for your videos, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say great work. Keep it up Alex, you really do have a good eye for it!
@@AlexYevmenWoodTurning you should make some you tube of making tools , there are a lot of us on a limited budget and would like to make our own
Lovely work, Beautiful piece! Never seen wood twist like that. Is that a natural phenomenon?
It's quite common, especially in woodland. The young trees chase the sunlight around and around and literally twist themselves up!
wow! thats pretty
que producto usa para la terminación.
Buen trabajo
Gracias.
The lid...? Not liking that, it doesn't fit nor does it match the piece. IMHO, of course. Nice bit of wood though.
Really 👌
Очень красиво 😍😍😍
Makes me want to watch Winnie the Pooh.
I was going to comment that it looks like a hunny pot...lol
Please
That looks like bristlecone pine.
It could be, I suppose, but at least here in Colorado the flag trees (which grow right at tree line) and have this type of twisted trunk are spruces. Bristlecones have a more contorted shape and not an even spiral. The spiral trunk is due to the branches growing best on the South side of the tree, but are pushed by prevailing winds to the East side causing the trunk to twist. www.brandywinegeneralstore.com/products/one-sided-spruce-tree-in-the-rocks-at-dolly-sods-art-print
Belo trabalho parabéns

Are you actually stalling the lathe or does it just look like that?
greetings Douro20, the lathe is driven by a V belt that can be slowed down or stopped if cutting hard on the peice. It prevents you motor getting excessively hot and shorten its life span. you may also noticed a puff of blueish smoke, that is the belt slipping on the drive side, also. Its a rudimentary safety feature. I hope that helps.
Beautiful Alex. Great job
Good exsotis
Wow that looks Great awesome job what type of wood
Says in the description it's apricot?
Que produto é que vc passa na Madeira. Tem no Brasil. por favor obrigado.
Que mandril usas
И это всё?
Красиво !
Oddly satisfying to watch
Stop the darn thing more often so we can see the progression!
Red cedar?
apricot
Any idea what kind of wood that is? 🤔🤔🤔
Says its apricot in the description?
We don't need no stinkin bore tools!
OMG, what's that? What's that Wooden Jar to be Used For? Could have been much better Workmanship!
there is Something Weird/dangerous, here. the piece should NOT be Stopping. or, is it an optical illusion. cheers
Stalling the motor on a lathe is pretty common when your first starting to turn a new piece. It happens to me all the time.
@@mramseyISU bla-bla-bla-happens to me-bla-bla
do you Think That makes it okay, then??? it don't.
if the stock is roughed out SUFFICIENTLY, and cut depth is NOT excessive, such stopping should Not happen.
btw --- your equals 'you're' googletranslate
Beautiful wood. But.......I wish you hadn't turned the rings in the bottom. They distract from the wood, and the wood is what's most unique here. However, your skill is obvious.
Резцы заточить нужно.....
Goof
at 8:00, tool is OVER-EXTENDED !!!!
Wh must you waste sooooo much wood????? Why can't you speak????
Wood Waster!!!!!
Did not like the pot or the way he "polished" it. Thumbs down, and deleted the feed.
I bet you’re fun at parties. Your mamma didn’t raise you right.
@@ericprimrose7369 yea , we all have different tastes , myself , I like a high polish , oil followed by ob shine , followed by CA . But there is no way it would work with this piece , that rustic oil finish suits it
👍
