I did not take this footage and do not know the person responsible for this little piece of history. I only wish I did so I could thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Such an incredible show! I was there. The first thing Morrissey said when he walked out on stage is “your missing Benson for this.” Phranc was the opening act.
I remember Phranc trying to get us to sing along, "I don't like female mud wrestling", but her request went mostly ignored.
@@livcontessa people yelled "F*ck you!"
I was there. In my section the response to that was “eff you”. Lol.
Do I remember correctly that her set was cut short after that?
@@close2nd Yes! The audience was not kind. Everybody was impatient for Morrissey.
I was there, about 10 rows back from the stage, singing every word. The Pier was general admission so you got there early and waited in line to get the best seats you could. I remember hearing band warming their instruments with the licks of How Soon is Now while we waited. Don't remember the Benson comment, but do remember Morrissey introducing "their new single" Panic. Also at the Pier that summer: Siouxsie and the Banshees (with the Pedantics opening), The Cure (with 10,000 Maniacs opening), and then a Echo and the Bunnymen/New Order/Gene Loves Jezebel triple bill. It was the summer of 1986, I was 17, going into my senior year of high school. What a great time.
I was 17 as well and saw all of those bands except Siouxsie and the Banshees at Pier 84. It was pure music magic there that summer. I also had tickets to see the Psychedelic Furs at Pier 84 but couldn’t make it. I bet that was an amazing show as well.
Wow!!!!!! My favorite bands in all of my life….. I must imagine how incredible it must have been!!!
Johnny Marr...magic, pure magic...
I was there...that was a really memorable night.
Thanks for posting this! I was there as well as a 16 year old…unforgettable show.
I love reading posts from people who were also there. I'd like to think in some small way it shaped us into the people we are today.
I was a 16 year old at this show, too! I totally remember him writhing around the floor on this song, too. I was in the way back but so happy I got to see them!
Nice sound.
So amazing!🥰😄👍🙌
Perfeito 💙 Thanks for sharing ✨
Thanks for watching.🙂
Where did you find this? I've seen everything that exists out there and haven't seen this one ever.
I found it a few years ago hidden in a blog when I was feeling sentimental and searched for footage of this show. I was there as a 19 year old! Needless to say, it changed me forever.
@@livcontessa do you think I'll be able to find it on internet?
@@livcontessa you're so lucky :(
@@poetorfool7443 I wish I could remember the name of the blog. I tried doing a search, but to no avail, unfortunately.
@@poetorfool7443 It was a fantastic night, even though I had seats in the nosebleeds and Moz was the size of a Tic Tac.😃
I was there too!
Fantásticooo.
I don't suppose a full recording of this gig exists, right? because it sounds incredible and the view is perfect.
This is it, my friend. I was surprised to even find this piece when I deep dived to find footage of this show.
@@livcontessaNever mind, even if it is only one song it's still amazing to watch. What I wouldn't give for a time machine!
@@Gonzax It was thrilling to be there, especially as a young girl! Thank you for watching.
I was there
Cool! How old were you at the time?
@@livcontessa 20
Morrissey thanked everyone for coming to see the smiths instead of staying home and watching Benson reruns
@@conshea7382 What a great memory you have!
@@livcontessa somethings just stick with you that funny line by Moz has found a home in my brain
There was better atmosphere at my nans funeral😂
