He seems pretty relaxed imo! No tail swishing, no scared snorts or head tossing, his ears and eyes are pretty neutral. He looks good!

I promise I don’t mean this bad but he’s not super tense girl, you are and he can totally feel it. He can tell that you’re nervous. I’m guilty of it too, we all are. On a totally different note I think scratches work better than the “patting” personally. Or a cupped hand! ☺️
I agree with scratching then “patting” or I call it rubbing not scratching. When you rub them it reminds them of when their mother licked them as a baby.

Am I the only who saw 0 signs of anxiety/stress??? He looked perfectly relaxed. The only thing I saw was him being confused by that hack and I cant blame him they confuse me too! A side pull might have worked better! Maybe he will be back in work this time!!!

He honestly looks perfectly calm. I think you are the one who is tense here.... Also hope you know that a mechanical hack is much harsher than a snaffle, and you don't have it positioned correctly, it's too far down on his nose, making it even more harsh

@Brielle Burgstaler do you not know how this type of equation works??? A hack goes over the nose, not in mouth like a bit, and when a hack is too low on the very thin nose bone, or used incorrectly it can cause extreme amounts of damage to that thin bone in their nose... I'm assuming your not actually an equestrian and just an equine admirer, which is all well and good, but might want to educate yourself before commenting on something... as you can see there are alot of comments about this on the video, not just mine.
He’s so amazing for over a year off! Wow! One thing noting though is that his hackamore nose band part is very low, and it just risks damage to the nasal bone and constriction of his breathing xx
no hate! he isn’t showing any signs of stress, his tail is relaxed, his ears and his eyes are relaxed. i noticed your shoulders are hunched in and down and sometimes you grab with your hands a bit. i think he’s a little worried about why you’re worried. when you say up and back with a relaxed rein, he went very well!!

We'll my earlier account was " Horse lover last guy" so.. cringey right? It's because I've used watch your channel 3 years ago (I did watch after that). I just want to thank you for making my childhood great.. I can say that im glad I grew up with you and not Tik-tok or that fornite crap. I was looking up some indian breeds of horses and suddenly my brain was like " Hey, you remember you used to watch Claire eventing, go back and see what's goin on" and I was like Ok?
I searched up your channel and saw that you left Owen too, which was kinda sad and I've been with your channel ever since you've had Rushton. So I clicked on the video and got my first wave of nostalgia with that sweet intro and then the second wave when you said " Hello fellow Equestrians! It's Claire here" so I teared up with my heart pumping fast. It was then I found out that you're finnally engaged to Denton ( I'm sorry if I'm wrong :< )
I just want to thank you for being my childhood hero who inspired me to learn about horses and other stuff related.
Even tho I'm 13 and have moved on to Gaming, Memes, Studying and all that what a teenager will do but i'll never forget you and the impact you had in my life as a child growing up..
Im happy for you as you've achieved what you wanted and I also want you to be safe during these sad times.

He looked great! When just lunging in circles they arent mentally stimulated. Ask for a lot of transitions as well as changes of directions. Take a break, bring them in to you and have them back up. It has done wonders for my horse that I thought hated riding. We did tons of ground work and now he loves to work!

I know this is an older video, but I still want to let you know that you and Owen look great! He adores you! No one I know ever wants to be dumped, but he really looks in tune to you. I know you know your boy, but I really think he is trying to read you, and not in a tense way! You are truly lovely with ALL of the horses you work with! You know your horse better than anyone commenting here, but I too am seeing no signs of tension or anxiety with him. On the lunge he seems maybe a little fresh here and there but overall looks soft in his body and eyes.

Oh my gosh! I can't believe that's the same horse! He's lightened up like four shades! Still absolutely gorgeous, always will be. Just shocked with his color! Haha... I have a gray too he's now almost completely white. It's crazy how fast their colors change.

Hi Claire, you are welcome to take my advice or not, either way, I'm sure you guys will be great as you are a good rider. I suggest to keep lunging him before you ride as his little buck/fun thing was him not being stressed, it was him just getting his spunk back and energy out. It's like us "shaking off" after some excitement. I'm worried that if you don't lunge him, you will be on top when he does that and that's where you could get hurt. I wish you all the best for the bareback work, I find that's how I connect best with my horse which helps us so so much in the arena. Best of luck! Love your videos

You can see how tense you are girl. Ik how difficult it is to relax but he needs you to relax and give him his head so he can trot and canter properly but you did really well to not fall.
Have you had him scoped for glandular stomach ulcers? Warm bloods are very prone to this type of ulcer, they are really painful, and are not treated by gastrogaurd! They are treated by a different medication.

He looks like he's doing awesome!You could always try lunging on just a 10 -15 ft lead rope and maybe throw in a couple obstacles like jumps and other things so he is less focused on the idea of lunging and more focused on the obstacles it might be like mentally stimulating for him. Just a thought🙂

I just recently got a 4 month old filly named min, shes a brown and white paint and shes one of the sweetest things on earth. Shes really bonded with my bay gelding Austin and is always following him around oppose to following/bonding (with) my mare Camila, austin seems to enjoy her company and is really gentle towards her unless she is constantly nipping at him. I honestly was very surprised at the way the two of them really seemed to get along and genuinely enjoy eachother. It's only been a few days but there honestly super adorable pair, I hope their bond grows as she gets older and they stay really close.
