Wow well done that's a win for me 🎉 you seem to have your head screwed on well aware of very thing around you, You are doing better than most F1 drivers looking forward to the next video again well done
What a fantastic race that was! Gutted for you re the camera 😫 You really deserved the victory but I’m sure there will be many more to come🙌🏼🏁 For whicn I’m now Subbed😎
Very good commentary, precise, detailed and not afraid to be self deprecating when you thought necessary. This was a great win, well driven. To think you were not even born when Imps in the hands of such legends as John Homewood, Jeff Ward, Alex Clacher, Rob Mason, Ray Payne and Ray Calcutt had such huge sucesses in 1 litre saloon racing back in the 70s. It looks like you are shaping up to be a worthy successor. Well done!
Sir, I am a 10 season veteran racer in F1300, and Sports 2000. I was racing I would guess before you were born 😱😱🤣, now to you, Brilliant viewing , excellent analysis. It took me right back to my racing days. Sir you won the race, ...... listen, you Won the race, unfortunately you did not contribute points to the championship. The regulations are there to protect us all, and sometimes it is difficult to appreciate why some of them exist. You know what it takes to win a race in the wet. And you have now learned that regulations need to be understood. Well done, great job. My comment after viewing one video, your major, and in my experience attribute, you are able to think, analyse, modify actions, observe, learn and then think again. I think you will find on your life's journey that you are in a minority. You will I am confident excel in most things using what you demonstrated in your video of your first race WIN‼Best Regards Colin
Wow, thank you so much for this comment! It's just the way things go sometimes but I really enjoyed it and a lot has been learnt from all aspects of that race. I hope to show people that racing is not just pressing pedals and steering, but rather a never ending analytical exercise where you will never be the fastest possible and improvement is always available. I have big plans for the future and hopefully we can make it happen. Thanks for the support and see you in the next one. 👍
Fascinating and brilliantly educational..For you and myself for future reference. So much to think of regarding regulations and pitfalls rather than preparation of the car and actual racing to contend with. Great sportsman ship held afterwards i learnt ..Great stuff! Are you saying changing gear whilst cornering hard causes the gear change to baulk..(?)I would think that you are using a solid mechanism rather than an insulated one ,so perhaps the transaxle rear rubber mounts are twisting into corners and causing the problem.
Thank you. Yes, only happens when mid corner, seems to open it up one way and close it up the other. Before that weekend, I poly-mounted the box and engine mounts so I know they are solid to the body. But I think the whole chassis/body is twisting as the cage isn't majorly rigid and it is a long distance between gearstick and box, all mounted to the quite flexible tunnel. Maybe need a plate or something on the tunnel to increase rigidity a bit. I think the flex comes between gearstick and box, not at the box itself, but I may be wrong...
@@WillEgby Gosh ,that seems bad..I would suspect a broken rear suspension cross member rather than chassis twisting. Rally people locate the crossmember with more securing bolts to the chassis. The transaxle mounting legs have been known to break but that would be so obvious to see.. Other than the transaxle mounts the linkage needs to be solid ,like in a universal joint connections ,rather than a flexi spring type rod..The securing pin needs to be the special bolt that is shanked in correct length if using the standard flexi connecter.. Saying all that the last Competition transaxle we used was the same symptoms as yours ,just hard to get into 2nd and eventually breaking the reverse link at the rear plate area as a result of going over to far and engaging reverse by mistake... That was a certain iffy transaxle which was purchased from overseas in my opinion though..Years previously i sold a stunner to Jerry Lanstra in Australia.. Good job you have James around to do the transaxles as all the original specialists are getting retired..
one of your transaxle nose mounts may be sheared and sitting ok but when torque is applied it's lifting and allowing the nose of the box to rotate causing selection problems. Check with a trolley jack under the nose of the box, it shouldn't lift. There are some tough racing front transaxle mounts available, horrible in a road car with vibration but...
great videos dude, enjoying these. that cortina joining the track should of waited in fairness, trying to rejoin with uncoming traffic was a bit reckless from his side imo.
No. Its a Uj now. I think it may be a loose pinch bolt at a connection but I'm yet to investigate as the car is in bits at the moment with lots of work going on.
A great video and I feel for you getting the win stripped for such a petty misdemeanor, considering it had nothing to do with the performance of the car or your driving!
@@WillEgby Painful lesson, you have my sympathy. Its just that I think they was correct. If you ignore safety your career will be shorter. Painful, yes, but they had a legit point.
It's a race win. Just because a spectator decides a camera is in the wrong place, makes no difference. Though to be fair it doesn't need to be there and is nothing more than extra weight. You'll be faster next time.
Will, this is a great video! Really enjoy your commentary through the race. 👍👍
Thank you! More to come...
This is best you tube I have ever watched. Explanations are brilliant and very professional.
Thank you so much for the support! Means a lot to get a comment like this, thanks.
Really well produced video! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks Jules!
Kart experience is the key to good driving. The analysing was spot on.
It sure is! You learn so much with the simplest form of racing. Thank you!
Fascinating insights dude
Really interesting points, especially regarding the camera.
Great footage and a quality presentation, again.
More please!
Thanks! It's a shame but at least I got the great footage for this video!

Great video with thoughtful analysis - well done sir! Plus you won the race....epic!
Thank you indeed!

A great race to watch Will. Best of luck for the next one
Thanks!
Cool drive!
I thought my Imp gear stick action was like mixing a cake sometimes - back in 1970-1973. Great videos and commentary
Where did you get the rear view mirror
Nice commentary and well driven race....
Bit of luck with the near Ford sandwich, very bad luck losing the win over a helmet cam though...you DID win!
Thanks a lot for the support! Cheers.

Maybe there's some way of isolating the bottom of the gear lever from the shell. If it's the twist that's binding something.

@@limjamrace We're trying to retire David but it's never that easy! If Will breaks his (my) transaxle, he's welcome to bring it over....😏
Really enjoyable experience to watch.
A bit rough about you being stripped
of your win for a minor technicality.
Thank you. Yes its tough but shows you have to be on top of everything! Even the not racing part haha.

Thanks. Yes, but in racing you have to account for other people's...questionable decisions. Weigh up the risk/reward. Thanks for the comment!
Are you still running the spring on the end of the gear change rod where it attaches to the gearbox?
No. Its a Uj now. I think it may be a loose pinch bolt at a connection but I'm yet to investigate as the car is in bits at the moment with lots of work going on.

Did scrutineering not spot the camera before the race?
Bummer on the helmet, but fun control in the wet. 👍🏻
Yes indeed. Thanks. The Imp is so balanced and a joy to drive, especially in the wet when it's a little looser.
@@WillEgby well as I also have a GR, I appreciate a car that’s balanced where power isn’t everything 👍🏻
Great job and great video Will! Did you use the pedalcam during this race? It would be great to have it back for your next videos. ;)
Hi. I did, but had technical issues again. Working on it!
@@WillEgby Great, don't worry! Thanks! :D
You need to stop you engine and gearbox moving around so much to solve your gear change issue. Maybe solid mount it or an extra engine mount
Yeah. I think it's a pinch bolt now so I'm sorting that out now. It's got poly mounts all round. 👍
WebCam could have been driven in "like a nail" in the event of an unfortunate accident,
I'm not sure about that due to its form factor and materials used. But I understand that it could be a safety issue for other reasons.
