In the early 90s Slim Dusty toured the Highlands of Papua New Guinea and played in a town called Mendi...When he sang a grasshopper loose in MENDI,oooh the crowd went wild with excitement and danced like crazy. The crowd was soooo massive.."a grasshopper loose in Mendi".. Rest in Peace Slim, you will always remain a legend.
Drips pineapple juice indeed. Slim Dusty, R.I.P you sung the song that wasn't safe for children like me back in the day. But we grew up. And we Respect.

I was in PNG in 1993, and people happily sang "grasshopper loose in Queensland".
I've loved this song since childhood - I'll be 40 next year. Can't believe it's 10 years today since Slim passed. Missing Slim, and always will.

Tobacco juice not pineapple juice. It’s the brown stains that grasshoppers leave on clothes.
