I'm an Irishman, but this reminds me very much of our own country music, it's very similar in styles, I've only recently discovered Slim Dusty, and he is an incredible musician, his songs are great stories and ballads.
Australian country music has a big influence from the Irish settlers.
No flashy lights, no dancing girls, no special effects...just a man and his band making great music
And to top it off everyone has all their clothes on !
Listen to the Furys and Davy Arthur, and you will see a man and a band,
And he knew how too involve the audience in the performance as well.

I emigrated to Australia when I was just 16 .When the ship docked in Adelaide in 1958 I heard Slim Dusty's song the 'The Pub With No Beer' for the first time and have been a fan of his music ever since.
This song that he recorded in 1946 is I think one of his best and I never get tired of hearing it
Italian born and bred here listening to Slim's tunes with patriotic fervor.
May Slim rest in peace.

Yes, Slimo is the king of Aussie country music, and no one can replace him. Even Lee Kernaghan can replace him, Slim Dusty is an Aussie bushman, but Lee is a cowboy.

I seen and heated smile dusty sang in Ingham North Queensland and sang the pub with no beer in 1982 when I was 11 years of age and still listen at the age of 55 years of age this love this true music

These songs are a big part of my childhood.Thursday nights dad would come home from work with a few beers under his belt. Mum and dad would get the music going( slim dusty) my brother and I would be in bed and would sing along with slim's songs. Those songs are still with me today and I play and sing along with them nearly every night. Bloody great Australian.

As an old Tennessee boy from before expressways I can tell you the words are Aussie but there is some old Tennessee in those hearts and strings. Slim Dusty was as pure Country as Country music can be. I have bought all his work Itunes carries.

Slim has come along way. I meet him several times working in radio. I found Slim was not afraid of hard work, and it payed off for him.
I never realised how fantastic this Australian C/W singer was. When I was younger I did listen to some of his songs but as I am now a lot older I now know just how good he was. My favourite C/W singer is George Jones always has been but now SLIM DUSTY I now place you as my 2nd best C/W Singer. For the last 2 months I have been playing all your songs and watching all your videos. I NOW KNOW WHAT I WAS MISSING. RIP SLIM.

One beautiful thing about Slim was , he sang to his whole audience not just those in the front row, that's why he was always moving from side to side when he sang. Miss you terribly, your songs made me love my country more and more, they are about us, our vanishing way of life, and what it really means to be an Australian.

My father left me his original 78 RPM Regal Zonophone recording of this song, recorded in 1948. I played it recently and it's in very good condition. I love Slim's music.

A fantastic singer
One of my favourites, I co.e to listen to slim because when my pop passed away in 2000 he left all his slim tapes in his car and I kept them and pops mouth organ , picked up the guitar since. And this song goes alright in a Victorian winter :)

I first head this song while watching the rain outside tumbling outside and the local creek was in flood in 1954. We lived in a valley much like the area where Slim came from.
