Orcas are such intelligent, powerful, and beautiful creatures. I hate to see how their fins curve because of being kept in captivity. Unfortunately the trainer made an almost deadly mistake and broke protocol. The orca mouth closing could have been an instinctive reaction to the water pressure. I usually don’t respond to comments like this but the dorsal fin one is simply not true. Their dorsal fins can get up to 6 feet tall and there is no bone structure in those dorsal fins, only their pectoral flippers. These orcas do not hunt, they get all of their food from their trainers. The fin starts to curve because the stability of the water keeps it upright and it just naturally grows into the curve. Studies have shown that any orcas that spend a lot of time at the surface start showing the curve. It doesn’t just happen to whales in zoological facilities, it happens in the wild too. There’s a population of orcas of the coast of New Zealand that had this curve and they primarily hunt stingrays in shallow water.

Everyone this story is over a year old and they are bringing it up now for some reason. It is not a new issue

Seeing Trainers riding on their backs filled me with disgust. Yet still seeing them in tanks fills me with dread. These creatures belong in the wild not in captivity performing tricks.

Did anyone here watch "Blackfish"? That documentary has changed nothing, apparantly.
Most of us did watch blackfish, but they’re some inaccuracies (my advice, don’t challenge me because I pay attention to the details within the details), but the movie did make us to be more transparent about any animal and/or job site

It came from somewhere and the whale couldn't have gotten out of the water very easily, nor could it survive out of the water and got it from anywhere outside of it's Captivity Enclosure Within the Pool!!!! Period!
Why not ticket the millions of vehicles with painted license plates. Fine is over $1,100.
