Cheaper to replace?? 🤑

- Will it just be cheaper to replace this floor? Definitely not! You are way better off restoring your timber hardwood floor if it is structurally sound. Replacing it would be up to 5 times more expensive..
First we go in with THE BIG MACHINE using 36grit and working all the way up to 120. Next we hit the floor with THE EDGER before hand scraping all the corners. After more sanding and buffing we are ready to coat with Berger-Seidle water based poly using a 3 coat system (FlexPrimer, SmartHome, CeramicStar Satin).
Beautiful.. Done! All the marks have been sanded out and the floor has been restored to last another lifetime 👌🏻

Looks great. After seeing several of these videos I conclude that the nails look better than the filled nail holes.
I thought the same.
What people might not understand is that the wood will darken with time. The filler will blend in much better in a year or 3.
@@ian5780 Also, in a year or 3, many of those nails will be sticking up and getting caught in feet.
@stickyfox if the house has other foundation or framing issues, perhaps.
@@ian5780the darkening with age is what gives some floors their character.
Real wood floors are gorgeous and feels warm and friendly. My sibling had engineered wood flooring placed on top of the real wood floor. The space now has a low budget, generic, no personality feel to it despite the fact that it's the same beautiful furnishings, the floor just cheapen the space.
Nothing beats real wood 💪🏻
The hardwood under your siblings engineered floor is a subfloor and should be covered.
Exactly this looks cheap as hell. The original tone of the wood looked much nicer.
@@AdventurousTherapy Only the modern subflooring should be. Old subflooring in homes 80 years or older don't need an additional surface.
@BrokensoulRider It's not good to leave any wood subfloor exposed no matter its age. Sunlight and moisture is the issue, not the durability of the subfloor.
You transformed the entire space brotha! That's what we look for, leave a lasting impression. Good work bro 👊🏽
Appreciate that, cheers mate!
I actually liked the original better. But the work was top-notch on the restoration.
Yes, the original feels fancier, like old-money. The new one looks like new construction (cheaper)
The difference between having money, and thinking what money looks like is knowing the shiny floors were a fad, and the new look won't look old in 100 years.
@@PSNDonutDude Pretty sure he’s just referring to the stain. The stain looked much better.
Nah the original stain was too dark I reckon
@@spikyboi9578 If you say so. I've never been a fan of the lighter colors. Looks like it came out of the 90s.
Perhaps cheaper to replace, but better to restore great old wood. Looks beautiful!!!!🙏🙏🙏
I love how the natural look brightens up the room
That floor is gorgeous love how tight the joins are.
I preferred the old floor, but your work was excellent. Well done.
The way you edge that wood is simply superb, as a professional wood edger i can say that edging is one of the hardest part of the job especially when it come to hard wood
I like the time, patience and look. Don't replace the floor
Great job. Looks so much brighter in there!!
Amazing every time! Keep up the good work
Looks beautiful, but I prefer the previous style.
I love your videos.
Gorgeous! Wow!
The after flooring is sooooooo much nicer 😊. Great job.
Beautiful work!
Did the same thing years ago. Those old sanders are incredible. Great business idea.
I think it looks bloody fantastic👌🏻
🙌🏻
Those last two before/after photo pairs are extra 👌👌👌
God damn I love watching these videos
old woodfloor has so much character !!!!! its every time worth it !!!
New life to that beautiful old wood. ❤️
I personally loved the first one. The dark brown was beautiful ❤️
i see the appeal and i think that you did a great job
Glad you kept the old floor. Sad you stripped the patina off so that it looks new. Peace 🌻
Wow! Tolles Resultat! ❤❤❤
Congrats🎉 it's stunning!
Lovely work as usual!
You watch one short about wood floors being refinished and all of a sudden you are watching all the shorts about wood floors being refinished.
Wow! Beautiful!🤗
Just gorgeous! So much better than all the plastics that will just be chucked when updating our modern vinyl-based floors. :(
Looks amazing! Great work
Gorgeous! Love the colour.
Maaaan i use to hate running that orbital. Like having the tazmanian devil by the ears all day every day. Puts hair on your chest and the reward is a work of art. Shout out to Just Around the Corner, St. Louis. Taught me everything I know
Great job!🎉
Yeah, the new look looks good too. Matter of taste.
Lovely stuff
Wow just Gorgeous
Nice work, but I prefer a lambs wool flat applicator for applying the finish.
Looks great
Gorgeous ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely priceless!!
great job
Gorgeous floors!
YAY it's not soul crushing gray laminate!!!!1
There’s just so much Sanding a floor could take.
Looks nice. 👍🏻
In less than 10 years this work will have paid for itself in carpet’s so if you can, definitely do the sanding! It’s beautiful work, especially when done by professionals
Fire 🔥
Beautiful indeed.
Why would you ever replace the original 3/4" oak plank?
lack of taste
Awesome!
Beautiful
Looked better before. What’s with people wanting to strip color out of everything?
I kinda like the darker color. I would've stained it.
Dont the nails go in before you sand?
If he set the nails in first then sanded, the nails would reappear.
@johnp82 that is not true. They do it in many videos. Its a light sanding. Not more then 1/4 of an inch.......the nails are punched in. Filled in. Then sanded... or perhaps for a particular reason they didnt. But that is quite standard. Even for them!!!
@@oreokush5393 lt all depends on how much you have to sand and how deep you are able to sink the nails. The particular reason they didnt do it that way is that they wanted to avoid sanding too much which would make the nails reappear, which would be likely if you're removing a lot with an aggressive sander.
perfection!
Very nice
Magnificent ❤
Parabéns, seu trabalho é impressionante.
Now the mantle
Gorge!!!!!
Excellent
WOW!!!!❤❤❤❤
It’d be nice if my early 90’s floating floor could be refinished. Seems a shame to replace it entirely for cosmetic reasons.
WOW!
That bleached-out, raw look is already
No way that's quality wood that floor is in nice shape
You should sand diagonally to the floor boards
Can’t answer the question fairly unless you can show the final price of both options and taking into account one option is a brand new product while the other is refinished (albeit a good job).
Looks amazing! How long did the process take for a space this size?
Thank you! This job took 3 days in total 👍🏻
Oh my goodness - I can get rid of the dark shit on my floor? Oh hell yeah, I getting this bloody floor done!!
Should have mixed glue with sw dust from the floor to fill holes so it stains the same
The color of the old finish looked better!
Do you every stain a floor ?
👌
In this case the wood was in great shape!I’ve seen some cases when the floor is literally rotting from mold no matter how good they scrape it,it still leaves a nasty dark spot.Like throw the whole house away if it comes to that point😂
nice!
Home Alone would be rated R if his father owned one of these floor sanders.
Nice! Did you only use sealer?
Do all these Sanding Machines look like they r from the 1920s?
Trees gave their life for that floor. Always repolish rather than replace.
Wow
Thank you for doing this. I love wood, Forestry major. Don't forget that this old wood has more growth rings per inch than modern wood so it held up. And the wear marks show you how durable this floor is.
That’s gotta be less work and expense than stripping out the old floor and putting in new hardwood.
Until you get where the top of the groove side is it too thin and starts to break or crack better to refurbish. IMO
Old color looked much better
Yeh, it was the color of old school floor varnish, my parents used that and hand scrubbing when we had such floors . Nails were kept visible so they could be easily found when fixing stuff .
Way better than some stupid jerk vinyl planks.
Looks great, but I’ll always be an oil based finish guy.
It's actually cheaper to cover them up then refinish them.
How much cost ?
it probably wouldn't have hurt to go more than 36 grit
Is there another option besides nail dots?
What would you suggest for a floor that was stained dark but has splotches, uneven color, I would like to redo to a lighter stain,
Question, what is the purpose of punching in the nails?
I w9uldve replaced it
Its totally cheaper to lay LVP or literally any other type of flooring over top of that lol
How about leave the scratches??
Will you make a quick trip to North Dakota, USA?
Any time 🙌🏻

What about the creaking and squeaking though??
