    Why would you do that to a subfloor? You should be installing a finish floor over a subfloor.

    Maybe this was already answered but why do you need to fasten this machine to your shorts

    • @QuicksandFlooring
      @QuicksandFlooring 2 дні тому

      It gets fastened to a belt that you wear around your waist - gives you more control over the machine and you can use more of your body weight and pulling the machine backward 👍🏻

    It is nearly impossible to find lacquer paint for your wood floor .. The beautiful colours for example "mahogany," only comes in tiny containers which are very expensive. This makes no sense .

    While the results look great I don't think it's a match for rooms color scheme. I think it needs to be stained to make it a little darker and contrast the brightness of the room to match the contrast of fireplace to white walls.

      Is it your house? Then don't worry how you think it should look. Contractors do what the customer asks for, not random keyboard warriors. I do lots of work that looks down right goofy, but it's not my house so I do the best job I can. The worst I have seen is a garage floor that was silver, pearl, teal and black. It looked like a confetti monster had been murdered. But the customer loved it. You do as the customer requests. Also the house is clearly being renovated, they just started with the floors. Probably gonna paint and refresh those bricks

      @utubesuxalotofazz why are you so upset and defensive. No one is questioning (your) work. Site asked for opinion on that particular job not yours. You are right as site says they loved it and there may be hundreds or thousands of people that may like it. Personally and probably professionally most would go with a look that contrasts colors and makes your eyes look around the room. That is too bright and white looking with nothing to make your eyes roam around the room and make you appreciate the looks of the room. In the end you are right as it is what customer wanted and was clearly stated on site. Just don't react the way you did about my opinion on job done. I did not attack you or person that did this job but only gave my view on finished product that customer wanted.

    I curse those who would paint and carpet fine woodwork!! I just scraped, de-nailed, planed and sanded a 164 year old floor with more than three layers of paint, glued and tacked down old school carpet, then new tack strips and modern carpet removed. What a chore! They know not what they do!!

    you guys did a fine job here. but the one thing i would change here, and i see alot of people doing this especially when the boards are face nailed. People will fill the nail holes with wood filler. What ive learned in my years of cabinet and furniture making, as well as restoration projects is that wood is porous... right. so if youre going to put any wood filler on a project, you have to fill the entire project. the filler will fill into the wood itself, into the pours of the wood and the grain and this will always show in youre finished product. Now this floor is pine which has a relativley tight grain structure so its not quite as visible. but on red or white oak hardwood floors, (which is used on 95% of hardwood floor jobs because oak accepts stain so nicely) since it has such a pronounced and wide grain structure to it, if you go around and fill only large gaps in boards, you will very clearly see where the filler was applied and it will show very clearly in your finished product. Filler will ESPECIALLY show if the floors are going to be stained because it will accept stain differently than the wood. So, my advice is to either fill the entire floor or not fill at all. I think filling is always better, you can either buy a premixed filler or mix equal parts sanding sealer and fine wood dust from the project you're working on. I think oak looks amazing when filled because it softens the look a bit. Plain cut oak in my opinion isn't the most aesthetic wood there is. Not trying to be a know it all and I don't claim to be a flooring specialist by any means, but I have experimented on quite a bit of high-end furniture and cabinetry, using all different types of finishing applications and products. But if there is something I know much about and am a true student of, it's the wood itself. It's very valuable information to have when you work with wood for a living. every species has its own characteristics and uses. hope this information helps someone out there who needs it.
